E3 2019: Bethesda Showcase (plus Devolver Digital)

That was bad.

This is shaping up to be the worst E3 ever thus far. Hopefully Nintendo will save it.

Have they shown anything at all that looks good? I lost interest in the rest of E3 after MS's shitshow.

Doom was the only thing worth and it was actual gameplay.

This was really really really bad.

If Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 are not announced this year I am done.

Shit Show? CyberPunk + Kueanu is probably the best E3 event in years.

4/10. A right mess of a show. Seems like they tried the slow start, big finish again like last year, but they stretched out the start too long and didn't have enough finish. Too many mobile games. It's like Bethesda are turning to NetEase West or something. Fallout 76 getting NPCs, dialogue trees and a Battle Royale mode. Yup, GOTY right there. Rage 2 getting stuff. Wolfenstein: Youngblood got a release date. Shinji Mikami's Ghostwire Tokyo and Arkane's Deathloop did look interesting, but not enough to go on. Finally, Doom Eternal was... ...Doom, which was great. What else is there to say? Wished that could have been half the show instead.

Anyway, I'm going to get a firm time on that Devolver Digital stream. I need a cheering up.

Did they show Starfield? That's Bethesda, right?

Deathloop looks cool, and it's Arkane, so that's a day-1 purchase for me.

Yeah, that's lame. Everyone wants to be the first to it, no one wants to do it right.

Bethesda - 6/10

Slow start, but hey, it ended with Doom Eternal and I can't wait to play that. Deathloop and Ghostwire have promising trailers too.

Devolver - 4/10

Too many parodies (most notably of Nintendo's own Direct) and it was just not funny at all. The few games it showed looked okay, but their presentation was just bad.

Short and sweet. Nice parody of Nintendo Direct. And somehow it went from The Matrix to Robocop to Terminator. Not bad. I'm cheered up.

Devolver Digital was better than Bethesda. Surprise surprise.

I don't understand outlets that don't cover Devolver and/or PC Gaming show. You're going to miss announcements... Are you passionate gamers or what? I wouldn't.

Especially with the PC gaming show... Is it because they're not on stage? Nintendo isn't on stage but you cover them... Is it because they don't get a lot of sponsorship money? They have Epic + 9 others sponsoring them this year. So there is money there. Is it because of no announcements? They had announcements last year... Is it because of the couch? I rather have them talk in a semi-informative way with a developer for 5, hey even 15 minutes than get a stale ass sales/diversity pitch. I don't get it. PC's market blows any console out the water. Sure, they don't buy exclusives. Did you watch the MS conference?

GS doesn't even list them on the E3 schedule. GiantBomb doesn't officially have a video planned. Sometimes they both watch it anyway so who knows. At least EasyAllies are officially recognizing and covering the PC Gaming Show, they seem to know what's up.

It's just weird. I'm not a PC Gamer Magazine fan ever since they got political tendencies. Which means this could be a really bad show, sure. But as someone who loves gaming I wouldn't miss this for the world. I wouldn't miss Devolver's showing either and imo they announced some very interesting things.

This press conference actually made me less excited for Doom Eternal I don't know it just feels underwhelming and what is up with that hud? it looks like it's from a mobile game yuck I hope they change it.

I can guess why. The presentation is barely 20 minutes and is densely packed wall to wall with either the skit or with actual announcements. There would be no down time for Giant Bomb to actually say anything without completely talking over Devolver before it just ends.
