EA insists it's not favouring Microsoft over Sony

Despite Titanfall exclusivity and FIFA 14 Xbox One deal.

EA has insisted it's not favouring Microsoft over Sony despite the announcement of a raft of exclusive deals for Xbox.

At E3 in June EA announced shooter Titanfall, from Respawn Entertainment, for PC, Xbox One and Xbox 360. At Gamescom Microsoft announced that all European Xbox One pre-orders come with FIFA 14 for free, and that the FIFA Ultimate Legends feature is exclusive to Xbox. Then there's timed exclusivity on Xbox One for Peggle 2 and Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.

Speaking with Gamesindustry International, EA chief Peter Moore said the company was not favouring Microsoft, and suggested PlayStation specific deals could be announced in the future.

"We have relationships with both companies that go back many many years, so I think that what you saw yesterday [Microsoft's Gamescom media briefing] was, just from a phasing perspective, you saw a little bit more of the Microsoft stuff," Moore said.

"We have a lot of partnership opportunities with Sony, with the PlayStation 4, which we have done for many many years, that maybe we should start talking more about.

"But it may have seemed that way, I don't think that we're favouring one over the other, we love them both dearly. It's important to the publishing community that both are very successful and I think they will be very successful. I think the gamers, the fanboys, I'm an Xbox guy, I'm a PlayStation guy, they're going to make their choices. I see a lot of talk about people who are going to try to get both.

"Microsoft has been very aggressive with us, as had Sony, we're a very powerful publisher obviously, that has the ability to deliver great content and makes a difference on their platforms, and they want to make sure they get that."

At Gamescom FIFA development lead David Rutter denied the Xbox One bundle was thought up by the platform holder to help ease price concerns after E3. Moore said it was likely an attempt by Microsoft to boost Xbox's appeal in Europe, where it lags behind PlayStation.

"Microsoft, particularly in Europe, feels it needs to catch up a little bit with the PlayStation brand and this is one way to do it," Moore said.

"You take soccer and you add Europe to the mix and then you bring it together. And I suspect as well Microsoft is looking at ways to add value, as I'm sure Sony is here to make the price points feel a little bit more of a bargain. We sat down a while back and talked about this and that's how it happened."

You know what that bolded line means right.?

It means MS is paying off a sh** ton of money sony is not so we gave Titanfall exclusively for a limited time.

The question is how will EA react to any future offert from MS,if the PS4 start to heavily out sell the xbox one, remember this is dollars and cents,if the PS4 sells more where do you think BF4 will sell more and future EA games to.

This.  What would give anyone the impression otherwise?  EA is never going to stop reaching out to as many as possible.

It would not be shocking if they did favor MS some considering the Xbox is the main reason the Playstation went from 1st to last in console sales.

There is no question, even if the Ps4 starts outselling the XB1 at a huge margin MS will still have a TON more disposable money than SONY has, or did you forget that SONY is still financially in the Crapper, MS came into this gen in a far better position to financially support there hardware, anyone who denies that is a blind fanboy. Good luck to EA, if Microsoft are stupid enough to pay for timed exclusives from EA probably to the value where it would exceed PS4 game sales at the time of launch then they are doing the correct thing. I bet in a years time when there are 2x as many PS4's as there are Xbox One's there will be a fewer deals like that as it's not financialy viable for either party.

Just think back to when Microsoft had timed exlcusive content from Rockstar, didn't they pay some insane amount of money ($20M) for it? They would be idiots not to do it.

THey favor money, not a company.

EA probablly litterally means they dont favor them in the sense that they like them better. Being paid to side with MS is not the same thing as liking them.

All EA has done though is shit on the gamers. Anytime a company that makes multiplatform games sides with one console all they do is cheat all of their paying customers that dont own that console. It wouldnt be fair to consumers whether it be ps4 or xb1 that got shafted due to EA making them wait or simply not caring about them. But its all about business so I understand why a publisher would give advantage for money, I just dont like being on the recieving end of their back room dealings.

titan fall has only 60ish employees. most teams has over 100+ that's a resource problem...

fifa, A lot of companies make exclusive content. and IF MS wants to buy 50,000 copies at bulk price to stick in to their box then let them....

get over your self. This exclusive stuff been going on for years...

EA is interested in making profits so if MS can provide an interesting offer ($$$) I dont see why EA should refuse that...

I dont see the problem, since EA publishes tons of games and there is just one game TITANFALL which wont be available on PS3/PS4.. no big deal considering all the others will be available..

Also there's still a possibility that Titanfall might be a timed console exclusive and eventually will get released on PS4 !!

Why and who is asking? Are they covering their tails? PS4 is selling like hot cakes. EA is like "we like everyone".
