The U.S. is the largest gaming market for any single country. You didn't know that?[QUOTE="KC_Hokie"][QUOTE="Chemical_Viking"]
I've got news for you. America is not the world. Some of you would do well to learn that little lesson. And the U.S. is not the largest gaming market in that world either.

That is because its most populated developed country. Football is the most popular sport in the World and those 3DS screens look nice.
I was simply pointing out that soccer as a whole doesn't appeal to the world's largest gaming market (the U.S.). I know it's popular in the world but for gaming it's another story. And no PS2 graphics don't look nice.

Last time I checked FIFA games have sold more than Madden games, and Madden is older than FIFA. Even in videogames Football > American Football.

Not to mention that Fifa has competiton in the market with Pes wich somewhat divides the fanbase,if Fifa was the only football game in the market it would sell even more than it does. You know, System Wars people are really the hipsters of the video game industry...
If it's a Nintendo game...*SCOFF* "I loved Nintendo before they sold out. Now they just have gimmicks and bad graphics" (while ignoring all the great stuff)
If it's a sports game...*SCOFF* "I don't play sports games. I play obscure import JRPGs. You've probably never heard of them..."
looks like a ps2 game. Fifa graphics have moved so far past that, why would we want to go backAndrovinus
Because it's a handheld, and handhelds are always two generations behind aren't they? And the pictures shown clearly look better on the 3DS over the PS2.
Wonder what EA could pull off next year.

1.the pictures are probably doctored. 2. the vita is a handheld and can do a lot better.[QUOTE="Androvinus"]looks like a ps2 game. Fifa graphics have moved so far past that, why would we want to go backChubbyGuy40

I Wonder what EA could pull off next year....for the PSVita. Those 3DS shots look okay. Not great, not awful, but okay.
This is precisely the kind of game that I don't understand why you'd want on a handheld, though. Even the Vita version will look inferior to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions (and may play worse, too). And a soccer match isn't exactly the kind of thing you can complete in bite-sized pieces; isn't each match at least 15 or 20 minutes long? I guess that's not too long, but portability is really the only advantage of putting a game like this on a handheld (whose battery life is only 3-5 hours anyway -- I'm talking about 3DS and Vita).
I guess I'm asking, is anyone even planning to get this on a handheld?
You can do 3 minute halves. I've played quite a bit of PES 2011 on 3DS on the go.Those 3DS shots look okay. Not great, not awful, but okay.

And i could say the same bout NFL,NHL,MLB ever seen a celebration and when the players come off after a play drive in an NFL? all sports are like that to an extent.
Tbh though the namby pamby attitude of the other premier leagues aint echoed at all in the Scottish premier leagues, crowds chant abuse at players like that half the time especially the higher teams and a couple of their notorious divers.
But your arguements bout as strong as a wet paper bag.
looks like a ps2 game. Fifa graphics have moved so far past that, why would we want to go backAndrovinusFunny thing is, 3DS is supposed to have Gamecube strength.
[QUOTE="Chemical_Viking"]
[QUOTE="KC_Hokie"]I don't either. I was just joking around. Apparently people take soccer very seriously. KC_Hokie
You're kidding! Really? People take the most popular sport on the planet seriously? Get out of here!
Seriously, you've derailed this thread with your petty ignorance.
I should point out that soccer doesn't appeal to Americans as a whole. And the U.S. is the largest gaming market in the world. But I was just joking from the start. The reactions were rather priceless.
what i find hillarious is Fifa tends to sell roughly 15 million which is more than any other EA sports franchise a year these days and yet you write it off with but the US doesnt like it..what a load of tripe.
[QUOTE="Arach666"][QUOTE="KC_Hokie"]You know...it's soccer.
KC_Hokie
Yeah,I know, the biggest sport in the world and the best selling EA sports game.
It's still soccer.Yeah but just look at American Football.
Mr. Tight Ends, WIDE Receivers, TAIL backs....yeah cute position names and cute tight uniforms, especially receivers and hulking running backs running down the field..............and they ALL wear Helmets as oppose to Rugby players
And this is coming from an NFL fan (Go J-e-t-s) myself.
[QUOTE="blacktorn"]I don't think Nintendo platforms are the best for EA's Sport franchises to be honest, just a guess but i think they sell the worst on nintendo platforms vs microsoft or sony's,but i guess still make a profit or else they wouldn't bother to develop and release them. But when i look at fifa on the wii or the DS,they are just so much inferior to there 360/ps3/psp counterparts that i wonder why someone would buy those particular franchises on nintendo platforms...nintendoboy16Maybe because they like playing them on Nintendo consoles? Nothing wrong with that.
tbh when you play Fifa on the wii its like taking at least 3 steps back.Compared to the hd twins/pc versions which are much more robust football games with lots of improvement it shows that the wii iteration is running off PS2 builds and it clearly shows they aint to bothered bout the wii either.
It consistently is rated lower aswell despite touting a five a side, it is slated for its sluggish controls and inconsistancy on the wii.
I'll take fifa and an hd console any day considering how much better they are from a graphical and control standpoint.
Yeah,it´s still the biggest sport in the world. And North America as a whole doesn't give a flying **** But "soccer" as a spectator/competitive sport is actually growing in the US, what with the growth of MLS etc. ;) Regardless of your thoughts, it is the biggest sport in the world :) And those screens look good for 3DS - don't think I'd get FIFA on a handheld but we'll see.[QUOTE="Arach666"]

FIFA is a ridiculously popular franchise.... 15 million copies of Fifa 11 were sold as of June 2011. PS2 graphics look fine on a handheld too .[QUOTE="nintendoboy16"][QUOTE="Androvinus"]looks like a ps2 game. I know, but still, Gamecube is last gen. I wasn't riffing on the 3DS, just pointing out how strong it's supposed to be.
Matt Prior told ONM "It's a fully featured title that was developed specifically for the 3DS and not just a lightweight generic port." He went on to list the many features that FIFA 12 3DS boasts. "We have hours of gameplay through our numerous game modes which represent the largest feature set we have ever done for a handheld game. "We have 11 v 11 and Street Kickoff, a complete and immersive Career Mode, training, and over 50 authentic tournaments. "We have a full Street mode featuring street tournaments, head-to-head local street play and an immersive be a pro mode that starts the user out as a street player with the aim to build him all the way up to an international superstar. "We have created a game uniquely for the 3DS and have implemented numerous features that enhance the 3D. We have also revolutionised gameplay with the addition of touchscreen shooting. According to Prior, it's not just the best 3DS football game but the best handheld game EA Sports has ever made. "All of this adds up to the best handheld game we have made and, in my opinion, certainly the best football game on the 3DS."bu but the 3DZ!
no really what about the 3d... it might look cool.

gotta be honest i absolutely love how serious EA vancouver have been taking their sports games the past few years..Now if only the same could be said for Tiburon :P
Also for those talking about the Wii version, it does look awful but EA intentionally made the game cartoony so it'd be different to the other games.they didn't make it look cartoony so it can look different... the Wii just uses outdated hardware. This is what Football games on the Wii can look like, not amazing by any means but certainly not as bad as FIFA on the Wii.fabz_95
they didn't make it look cartoony so it can look different... the Wii just uses outdated hardware. It does use outdated hardware but EA knew that there was no way it could compete with Pro Evo on the Wii which is a realistic (and awesome) football game so they catered to a different market by making a casual cartoony football game. If they wanted to they could have made the game look a lot better on a technical perspective.[QUOTE="fabz_95"]Also for those talking about the Wii version, it does look awful but EA intentionally made the game cartoony so it'd be different to the other games. They look fairly decent...but honestly, who wants to play a Soccer game (or any sport for that matter) in a handheld :?

Even if the hardware is dated, sport games can look much better on Wii, EA is just being lazy.
Obviously you need to be desperate to do that! They look fairly decent...but honestly, who wants to play a Soccer game (or any sport for that matter) in a handheld :?
