Sad news for Wii only owners. I really like the Dead Space franchise and liked Extraction on the Wii. It's a shame that more people won't be experiencing it.

Considering how poorly Dead Space Extraction sold on the Wii I don't blame them. Though it would be nice if they designed another Dead Space rail shooter for the Wii, I really liked Extraction, it can sell bad on the Wii but if they make it multiplat and have it on the PS3 with Move support it'll probably do a lot better.lamprey263
You should blame them, they did ZERO advertising for it and basically dropped it off to die. It's their own fault really.
Porting a HD game to the Wii is a bad idea anyway. In order for it to look good they need to make the game from the ground up. Extraction was build from the ground up for the Wii and it looked fantastic. What I really want is a Dead Space for the 3DS. 3DS has better shaders than the Wii and top it off with 3D the game will look nice.

Bravo, about the most.............thing I've ever read. Anyway, I don't care that they didn't port.Dead space is not that kind of game that would do well on wii. Not fruity enough.

Well the fact that you don't care validates my point. Cmon is not a secret that wii is a fruity platform and I don't think that's an insult.

So the fact that I dont care about a sequel to a game I didn't enjoy, was not downgraded and ported to the Wii validates your point? That's probably for the best. The consoles barely handled that game without dropping the framerate to drastically at times. No way the Wii could run it without a lot of reworking to make the game look terrible.
How much did Extraction sell on the PlayStation 3? Do you have figures? I don't imagine Dead Spac Extraction did particularly well on the PS3 being as late ports of any game don't often sell as well as first release ports as advertisement for them and community hype has long passed, like how late ported titles like Mass Effect 2 or Bioshock didn't sell as well on PS3 as they did on the Xbox 360, as far as Dead Space Extraction on the PS3 goes the game was made available in copies of Dead Space 2 for the PS3 (not sure if in all copies or just LE copies), and the only other way to get it to my knowledge is by downloading it through PSN, and being as digital sales are for the most part hush-hush unless games break milestones, the fact that we haven't heard anything of Dead Space Extraction sales on PSN leads me to believe it isn't a big seller. However, I do think that the more a game is ported it has a greater chance of generating hype, if another Dead Space rail shooter were to be ported to both the Wii and PS3 and launched at the same time together, I think it'd see significant sales improvement over Dead Space Extraction, for a few reasons. First off, the combined userbase of the game being on PS3 and Wii should generate additional buzz and promotion from gamers talking about it in online gaming communities such as this one. Secondly, being if an additional Dead Space rail shooter were to show up on the PS3 and not the Xbox 360 (and I'm assuming you're no stranger to system wars) would get the fanboys talking about how the PS3 has some game and the Xbox 360 doesn't, and this creates a significant amount of additional hype for games. Third, I believe any additional hype generated from the Xbox 360 and PS3 fanboys talking about it would cause Wii gamers to take a greater interest in a game available for their system. That's why I think another Dead Space rail shooter should be made, this time for both the Wii and PS3 simultaneously, plus I really liked the Wii version myself, didn't get to play the PS3 version though as I don't have Move and I bought Dead Space 2 on the Xbox 360.[QUOTE="lamprey263"]Considering how poorly Dead Space Extraction sold on the Wii I don't blame them. I thought Extraction came out for PS3 only using the Move?

lol sorry >_< I saw deadspace 2 and my brain locked onto that.I think this is amazing in a way, though its been happening for a long time. I've never known publishers care so little about the number one selling console on the market. It really says something about the Wii, if it had competitive hardware they could do it in their sleep.tomarlynVery few games released outside Nitendo garner decent sales, it's partly a mix of developers not trying hard enough and there beeing no motivation to really try. If a few more games outside of Nintendo are big hits I would expect other developers to start taking the Wii more seriously, but in general it's a hardware giant that seem slugish on selling 3rd party software.

It creates its own problem
Core 3rd party Wii games are usually low budget B team jobs which is why the quality usually lacks, which is why the sales usually lack. Unless its something tailored to the Wii's major user base which is party and casual game lovers. Competitive hardware would mean publishers wouldn't have to re-work the whole project from the ground up with a different team every time.

When you look at games that sold well from 3rd parties like Goldeneye 007 and Monster Hunter Tri, Epic Mickey, etc, it shows that if you put the effort in and market it, its going to sell. Most developers make it and leave it out to die, dead space extraction, red steel 2, among others.

I agree a Dead space 1 and 2 bundle on the 3ds would be a better idea then porting to wii and third person shooters games look pretty neat in 3D.
[QUOTE="nintendoboy16"]Do I care? No. Though it does seem like EA likes to treat Wii owners like crap.hiryu3well it was originally a Wii only game, it didn't sell so they ported it to another console. Sounds fair to me Dead Space 2? :?
If you're talking about Extraction, well, like another said, that was EA's own damn fault that never sold.
I don't think it would've been very good on the Wii anyway, too many sacrifices would be made, you wouldn't even really get the same experience as initially intended.
being that is just RE4 in space with some neat Half Life 2 (Xbox Level) physics I can't imagine it not running on the Wii.
But alas, EA and many companies think they shouldn't have to advertise Wii releases. Perhaps built in ads in the OS for Wii 2 would help this to some extent?

It's also a big "what if" that Nintendo probably could've charged $300-$400 for the Wii with how much it sold, how many people paid even more for it in its first 2 years, that maybe they could've put out a more comparable, HD console with a higher price tag and still gotten to the same place
But we'll never know. Nintendo consoles always have a draw back that creates a lot of "what if" scenarios. If not, it wouldn't be the Nintendo we know and love.

Yes I am talking about Extraction too. Or maybe, just maybe, it was their fault for FAILING to advertise it right. Or maybe Wii owners were sick of Rail-Shooters (this is why I worry about a Star Fox on Wii, even though I still want one on that platform). Please Log In to post.
