"....we also hear whispers that the sales of the PC version are again quite surprising, as they are up and over where EA and DICE thought that they would be at this point in time."

How could this be? I thought PC gamers areall pirates? ;)

Goes to show that if you build your game around thePC FIRSTand build a great game pushing the latest PC graphics tech than PC gamers will buy it in a heartbeat.

I wonder how many sales are from the PC? Since they are surprised, I'm going to assume around 3 million sales came from the PC? Origin recently got 5 million accounts build up. Don't see another magnet to use Origin or sign up for it.

I think he said that they started out by developing the game for the PC, with the intention to downgrade and optimize it for consoles later, but to save time and meet deadlines, they switched to consoles midway through development. I may be wrong though.

All I'm hearing about the game so far is complaints so it seems like people are only buying it for the graphics. I'm a little cautious.

Bad Copmpany 2 sold in PC almost as well as in Xbox 360.

The surprise here comes due Battlefield 3 is a ultrabuggy game -I still wasn't able to join a single match in 5 days- with only 3 "battlefield maps" (Caspian, Kharg, Firestorm) and one single functionally kind of soldier (engineer). Campaign, coop, and 6 of the 9 maps are just bad.

all the focus should have been towards PC, and consoles secondary ... their financial goals still would have fell in line because a lot console gamers for the most part don't care about this sequel regardless of promotion, the series is popular on the PC not consoles.

the only console stuff in BF3 is the textures and commo rose

commo rose was shoe horned in and does show they focused on consoles, the textures being exactly the same on consoles is also dissapointing

I think you might have misunderstood. It's not a direct port of the console version to the PC version. It's the other way around with thePC version first and then the console version.Regardless, they did a heck of a job optimising on the PC or else the game wouldn't have looked VASTLY superiour to the console version with it's fancy DX 11 graphics and so forth and run quite smooth.

Not to mention the PC version havelarger maps and 64 players. Does the console version of larger maps and 64 players? Gee I wonder why.....

Consoles don't have enough power to support 64 players per map with that kind of impressive technology powering the game :P

And the sad thing is... BF3 was made for consoles and not for PC. Because they hate PC gamers and give us buggy crap that isn't worth $60. Just imagine if BF3 had a clear PC vision and the bugs were worked out... They would have sold even more copies. I know 3 friends that didn't buy it because of beta and after I told them after retail that the game is still broke... they gave up the idea to ever get it. One of my friends don't even play his copy of the game any more. After just 4 hours.

I really don't mind having to use Origin. I just hate the fact that I need to use Battlelog in my browser. Origin has a browser so why can't I use that?

Now imagine how much better it would've sold on PC if they had stuck to their true BF3 vision instead of deciding partway through that it was going to be a CoD competitor, making it multiplat, and tacking on some lame SP and co-op stuff.

lol at this type of comments, if a dev wants to make real money they have to go multiplatform. no matter how good it sells on pc it cant compete with the combined sells of the pc and consoles. All i ask is that they make a decent job at porting it.

I don't mind Origin, actually the more I use it the more I like it. It's nice to be able to see your updated stats on Battlelog and not have to go to some 3rd party site.

Access to servers is a breeze, just feels weird doing it from my regular browser, I guess if Origin used it's own browser it would feel more linked.

the game really wasn't built around PC first, they just made stupid pc fanbois believe it to be true. Its got eye candy that finally rivals a 2007 game, and a bit bigger mp sessions, but everything else about this game is screaming console.

Isn't it also a bad thing to have Firefox on while you play the game? I mean, for high end pc's it's not a problem, but FF uses up a lot of resources.

This game is online only (it has a SP campaign but you know what I mean), you seriously bring the piracy discussion into this? You have to buy it to play online.

Weren't they complaining just a while ago that they lost 2 mil on torrent pirates?Masculus
They probably realized that tracker downloads have nothing to do with actual pirated copies and that a pirated copy doesn't indicate a lost sale.
