[QUOTE="mjarantilla"]How do you know their staff HASN'T been replaced? Staff turnover is extremely high in the games industry. I work for a software company, and with the exception of our QC staff, we've completely changed out software developer staff since I joined two years ago. I'm only two years out of college, but if seniority were measured with time with the company, I'm like #5 out of a team of about 50, not including the C-level management.

and im the son of god.....
Which don't you believe: that I work for a software company, or that our dev team has been completely replaced over the course of two years?

And how do you know they were replaced?
Because I know how fast developers switch out of companies, having seen it myself. It's more than likely that a good portion (maybe 30% to 60%) of Criterion and Maxis' staffs have moved on since the acquisition to other jobs, maybe at other game developers or maybe at more general software development companies, and were replaced.
People will now proceed to say that EA suck/are lazy.whocares4peace
Right cause everyone on this board didn´t already say that, they say more crap about ps3 they are Gods now...
[QUOTE="LuvGaming"]I loved this part, ""The truth is they are both virtually the same in terms of hardware when it comes to how powerful they are, maybe the PS3 has a few different things that makes it a bit more advance". A bit more advance? How could a developer not know if the PS3 is more advanced or not? Does the PS3 have hidden powahz??? I also love how "a developer on the Nascar series". No name, no photo, no mention of when the developer in question was even asked the question. Whoever believes this must also believe the statement "Valve" made about the 360 almost being maxed out with Orange Box while the PS3 handles the game no problem with just its GPU and barely any help from Cell.GARRYTHeasy answer the cell is the hidden power it can be used as a gpu and cpu when coded right. the ps 3 is more powerful than the 360 when used right. you wil see in the future that the ps 3 wins in animations because of the cell. ever herd of folding at home. if this tec was used in a game you see it is more powerful. 360 is good at graphics that is it.
Graphics, thats it? That's really all you think the 360 is good at? Biased much...
People really need to stop listening to anonymous developers, forum posts, blog rants, and PR bull**** to get their facts. They are usually inaccurate or distorted.
Is the PS3 more powerful than the 360? From a theoretical POV, yes. Not mind-blowingly far ahead, but a bit. Will it be tapped into producing something the 360 cannot do? Perhaps a few years down the road, but that is not a guarantee.

It could have happened. But it still stands that these development houses existed before EA, and with much success. They have their own climate and way of doing things, and I would bet that at least a decent chunk of senior staff is still around.
With the EA dev houses, they are created from EA, and they never had their own culture, their own success, their own guidelines.

yes graphics. this is not because im a fanboy (even though i am) but have you seen games on the 360 with animation as the ps 3 games coming out. like heavily sword or uncharted or killzone or ect. i mean in game play not in game movies. this is because these first party are using the cell for this this is the hidden power you are looking for. another example is untold legends if you have played it the cape on the mage flows with wind a enemy walking nere it ect. it reacts to everything in the game from weapons ect. the 360 will never be able to have animations like ps 3 but in the graphics yes it can.exactly

Never thought you'd agree with me, did you?
EA is not a bad developer, they just value constant sequels over new IPs most of the time. It works for them, and it appeals to the masses, so hey. Its not my cup of tea, but it works.

and what happens when that happens you become lazy because you know people will still buy my madden..
EA sports its all in the game......
lets see what 2k can do

Have I? Yes, absolutely. The animation in BioShock is superb, as is it great in Gears of War, Rainbow Six Vegas, NBA Street, Viva Pinata, Rockstar's Table Tennis....I could go on and on.
I have been gaming for 20+ years. I have witnessed games with poor animation, and while I realize there are games on every system that are lackluster in that department, to try and make the blanket statement that all games not on a PS3 have poor animation is absurd, not least of which is that animation is not tied to console power per se, but more on programming and polish.

Not true. Those EA dev houses used to be independent dev houses just like Criterion and Maxis. EA Tiburon used to be Tiburon Entertainment, EA Los Angeles used to be Dreamworks Interactive (and since EA closed Westwood some of the staff has moved there, too), EA Salt Lake used to be Headgate Studios, EA Canada used to be Distinctive Software, and EA Black Box used to be Black Box Games.
This is how the big developers work. Hell, Maxis itself now works out of EA's corporate headquarters. If anything, MAXIS should be considered the core of EA, because that is literally where they work out of and that's the corporate culture they're most exposed to.
There is no "EA dev house" because virtually all of EA's dev houses used to be independent dev houses. The only difference between the EA-branded dev houses and Maxis and Criterion is the fact that Maxis and Criterion were more well-known, but all of those other studios had their own successes before they were acquired by EA.

You missed my point. You know as much as I do when it comes to Cell and the RSX. Anyways, my point was that the "interview" was fake. Just like the recent "interview" with Valve.
[QUOTE="whocares4peace"]People will now proceed to say that EA suck/are lazy.mjarantilla
No, Sony just isn't a software company. They don't know as much about how to design APIs as Microsoft, which has been doing it for nigh twenty years.
no wonder MS had problems with their hardware quality (eg. 3rl) it makes sense.
at least that explains why the 360 multiplats are a little better.
he also said that in the future it won't be like that so lets wait and see :-)
Wow, EA is going on a Sony hate tour.
Wonder if it's because of that Microsoft dude that took over EA... teh conspiracy.
"...The case with this generation is different, now we make the game for 360 first and then port it over to PS3, but we really don't have the time to mess with how the PS3 works to really add to much more. It will change in the future, but for now it sucks."
So don't any EA ps3 version now. Wait till later.
I'm going to go ahead and call this a load of BS. Yes, the PS3 is harder to develop for, yes the Dev tools aren't on par with the 360, but this "interview" is garbage. The way this "employee" talks, he should be fired. Everything his is "crap" and "sucks," very unprofessonial.
Fail.

Just like there games suck, anyone played madden 2008 for xbox 360? So many damn glitches, and there are players on teams that arent even rookies that they didnt even have there names announced on a few teams. I think EA just throws alot of rushed games out there and knows people will buy it even if the game is half assed finished and incomplete. Dont blame ps3 for your screw ups, just because u dont want to figure out the hardware, these idiots get payed to make games on all platforms, so if u screw a game up, blame your lousy company for not taking the time to make us consumers better games.
