From Gaming Bolt

speaking to investors in a financial call, EA CEO Andrew Wilson noted that the company is now very bullish on the Nintendo Switch, expressing excitement for it bringing an entirely new ecosystem into the fold.

He noted that EA is considering bringing more of its games to the system, in addition to the previously announced FIFA 18

Looking good! That means Madden 2018 maybe announced and not just Fifa 2018 coming out for the Switch

Mass Effect Trilogy. Literally just a collection of the three Mass Effect games, as is. No enhancements, no extra content. I am not expecting any of that. I just want the laziest possible port of Mass Effect trilogy on Switch.

That shit will sell.

I'm predicting both Fifa and Madden 2018 are PS360 ports with little to no Online gameplay and both games run below 720p docked and 480p handheld.

So...now EA is seeing that the Switch is selling like hotcakes and wants to jump on the bandwagon, huh? I'll believe it when I see the games announced.

Square Enix is the third party developer to watch out for when it comes to Switch games. Sega and other Japanese developers will bring some cool stuff to the platform too.

But EA? Yeah, maybe some awful FIFA and Madden ports and that's it. We're talking about the company that refused to make games for the fucking NES because reasons. Their animosity towards Nintendo has been there since day one.

The Switch would be more ideal for EA sports games, as it's something you could take with you to sporting sessions and play with other people outdoors.

EA wasn't relevant back in the NES days. It was all about Tecmo Bowl back then. It was with the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis that EA became relevant.

@Jag85: Actually, they were making lots of games for different kinds of computers before they moved on to consoles with Sega. Lot's of people were playing pretty damn ambitious games on their Amigas and other machines like that all around the world while the NES/Famicom was dominating the US and Japan.

Of course I don't believe in EA, because I already predicted botched versions of both FIFA and Madden coming out for the Switch.

Just a word of warning, you shouldn't expect every EA game on the Switch to be full games and offer all the features and options found on the real gaming consoles. Just today an EA game came out, NBA Playgrounds, not only it looks like crap but certain features are missing and even the sound is downgraded on the Switch version. You'll have to switch it out and dumb it down when you play on the Switch.

EA did NOT publish or was involved with the development of NBA Playgrounds

@FireEmblem_Man: correction noted. EA makes a lot of sports games, big budget sports games with lots of features. Now if the Switch version is still a downgrade for a budget title from smaller devs, NBA Playgrounds, the word of warning still applies.

Of course there is cautious with them from Nintendo fans, but the root of the problem all started in the 80's when EA was strictly a PC game developer and Trip Hawkins was touting how gaming consoles were dead and never supported the NES despite its success.

I grew up in the place where the Amiga was most popular. And I still don't remember EA being a big name back then. It was FIFA that made EA a household name here. Before that, our equivalent to Tecmo Bowl was Sensible Soccer.

I like Nintendo but I got to side with the haters. EA supporting the Switch doesn't mean Star Wars Battlefront or Bioware games or the next Dead Space. It's whatever garbage game they can develop for no money at all. And sure, their overpriced sports games as well.

Of course, they will never learn. I'm sure glad that 2K got the right idea to release NBA 2K18's Switch version on the same day as the Xbox One and PS4 version! I hate waiting either an extra week or month for a botch Nintendo version.

I don't want EA's garbage ass games on the Switch.

They played it safe and didn't bet on the Switch from the get go and now want a piece of the lucrative pie? Screw off EA.

I remember @FireEmblem_Man sharing something about Trip Hawkins being pretty blatant about his hatred for Nintendo. That said, the most I've seen EA support a Nintendo console was for the GameCube (having Def Jam, SSX, Need for Speed, 007, Harry Potter, Sims, Madden, TimeSplitters FP, NBA/NFL/FIFA Street, Medal of Honor, and a few others, but still missed others like Black and Burnout after 2). Besides that, "unprecidented partnership" my ass

Well it's not just Nintendo that Trip Hawkins hate, he has a full disdain towards Console gaming. Just look where he's at now from CEO of EA to the 80's to a blunder that was the 3DO, to founding an indie company that would start making Mobile games and browser games and still have a disdain towards both Nintendo and Consoles. It's pretty pathetic

No, I don't want to play a barebones madden game. I barely want to play a fully featured madden game.

EA doing something cool? Don't count on it. They'll probably continue to milk the super crappy new Battlefront series instead. Which probably wont even be on Switch.

Maybe now they will release some super boring Sports games on Switch. Yaaay..

@KBFloYd:I think the problem is EA's reputation on Nintendo systems.

- Releasing a year old game and calling it the latest version with FIFA

- Releasing a full priced port of Mass Effect 3 around the same time other systems got the entire trilogy on one disk.

- Canceled Battlefield 3 for Wii U.

- Having little to no presence on Nintendo's successful portable systems.

And excusing themselves with "I would say EA doesn’t make ports at all anymore. We try to make games that are ideal for each platform as much as possible"

They have an awful lot to prove if they do intend to support the Switch in my opinion.

I don't think older games or sports games will do much for its install base. I'm still hoping they port 3DS games to it, the moment that happens I'm getting one.

EA should develop an indie-sized game using the Switch gimmicks, see how it does.
