EA: We Created EA Access Because People Steal

EA CEO Andrew Wilson wanted to create EA Access to serve a basic human need. In a talk at the GamesBeat 2014 conference this morning, Wilson said that people want to steal all of the time, and a business can take advantage of that by making a customer feel like they are getting more than what they’re spending.

Access is the company’s answer to that.

Yet another reason not to buy a damn thing from these shitbags. Their games always suck anyways, without fail. It's not hard to leave this company behind and never look back.

This EA access thing is not that bad when done right.....pay 5 bucks for a month when there is a game in the vault you want to play or a game releasing that you want to play early.

I can understand what he's trying to get at, but his choice of words is simply a colossal PR disaster.

People is more likely spend money when the perceived value of their purchase exceeds the actual money spent. Steam is widely successful because it operates on the same rationale.

When this guy from EA states that "people steal" what he's getting at is that people enjoy getting far more value in return for their money, and that people would prefer spending as close to nothing as they can in return for content.

This is awesome. I'm glad they are embracing digital renting! And I will be sure to feel like I'm stealing from them every step of the way! :D

Wasn't too long ago when Ubisoft and others had the same attitudes. EA just never learned that the thieves wouldn't pay full retail anyway, sometimes because it's not a game worth paying much for. Many are in countries where it's not for sale or equal value. Of course they could also create connections with players by making their old titles open source but they are as greedy as they think their customers are.
