Even though there is no way EA is worse than Bank of America, I still find it funny they ended up winning. Shows the amount of rage that ensued due to Mass Effect 3

Worst gaming publisher? YES...activision looks like saints compared to them.
World company?....HAHAHAHAHA
I bet the real Worst Companies in America (American Oil companies, Bank of America, landfill companies, whatever) are happy that EA rages Nerds as this was determined by voters that go to the consumerist, instead of factual data and evidence.
Angry Organized Nerds (aka also many young kids/teens) saved the REAL companies responsible for the recession, pollution, etc to point fingers at a Videogame company. EA aren't saints (nor are Activision, lolz), but by god, this is disgraceful as the real culprits get to laugh at this, and continue on doing sh** that's actually ruining our quality of life, destroying the eco system, taking our houses and jobs...
Videogame companies shouldn't even be on the list, there are a terrible companies in the world that don't entertain us, and they are saved by a flawed system in this poll.
If there are two things that are absolutely true about hardcore gamers, they are:
A) Spiteful
B) Organized
Combine that with a general knowledge technology and it was inevitable that any Game Publisher that ended up on the initial bracket was going to end up getting voted "Worst Company in America."
There is way more hate out there than EA deserves. It's not a perfect company, but alot of people just seem to enjoy being haters on here.
Activision treats their customers much better than EA, Ubisoft, Capcom, THQ, or just about any other publisher. They make horrible games, but that wasn't really what the poll was about.Activision not being considered worse=society is still stupid.

I'm confident the voting system was rigged by some gaming kids who wrote some scripts continually put votes in. It became evident when EA somehow beat AT&T, and even more clear just now ClemsonEE in the commentsI think kids out number adults everywhere on the Internet, having a system where anyone could vote was just a terrible idea....

PurpleMan5000
They don't really treat their customers better than other publishers... They are just more subtle about the ways that they **** you over.
They also only really have a couple "high profile" games, but those titles are so massive that they manage to carry the entire company... As such they manage to stay out of the spotlight, and just kind of do everything in the shadows while nobody is looking.
^^^^^^^^ THIS!!! The things Apple gets away with makes me want to tear my hair out.Wow. EA doesn't deserve it. Apple does.
DeadMan1290
Gratz, its well deserved for killing all the creative franchises alone.
see:
The innovative nature of the Dungeon Keeper series proved to be incompatible with EA's business model after the company acquired the rights, as the project showed to be a higher risk than EA's other titles that were based on films that were popular at the time. However, like most of the studios EA has bought and closed, EA holds onto the rights to the games but won't continue to develop the franchise.
The projects that provoked Dungeon Keeper 3's cancellation were EA's Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings games.

I can just imagine someone like Maroxad taking a break from serving Swedish fast food to go and vote on video game publishers he doesn't like because they'll somehow 'dumb down' the food chain he works at if he doesn't.
Activision doesn't have online passes in their games.
They don't make many games where something like that would make sense.
Activision doesn't have a long history of killing good companies. (Westwood, Bullfrog, Origin, etc.)Really? They practically dismantled Vivendi after their merger with them. The only thing they kept was Blizzard and that is because Blizzard makes as much money as the rest of the company makes combined... Their strategy is to acquire companies that are already successful, milk them for everything that they are worth(without innovating at all), then sell off the company or shut it down... They have done this at least 15 times... EA at least allows companies to make new games and attempt to innovate. They may ruin the culture of the company and doom it to an early demise, but they don't just milk a company until it goes dry then discard it like a used tissue.
Activision doesn't exhume a corpse of a beloved game and have sex with it for profit. (Syndacite, that horrible Ultima online web game)Correct, they just aqcuire already successful IPs then milk them until they are completely worthless, then they go discard the IP in a ditch somewhere while they chop up the developer and sell off all its bits and pieces...
EllieStranger
Activision is a worse company... They have absolutely no desire to innovate and they don't care about a single IP that they own.

They killed call of duty and use its corpse as a puppet to milk people's money.
in my eyes micro$oft is the worst overall

Microsoft isn't really "bad." They are just largely incompetent. None of their business practices are all that egregious, but there are lots of stupid practices.
It's pretty appalling that a lot of you actually agree with this. EA has some pretty greedy business practices, but they have no real negative impact on anyone's quality of life.
WTA2k5
I definitely don't think they are the worst overall company but in the gaming industry, EA and Capcom are the worst
Activisions crime is what? Yearly releases and no dedicated servers, I will take that over origin, online passes, day 1 dlc, origin, origin, origin...Activision is much, much worse. They are literally a cancer disease in the gaming industry, while EA is the aids

Activisions crime is what? Yearly releases and no dedicated servers, I will take that over origin, online passes, day 1 dlc, origin, origin, origin... Agreed. EA has always been worst than Activision.[QUOTE="RoccoHout"]

What exactly is so evil about Origin? It may not be a great service, but I'd hardly consider it evil.
Also, seriously take a close look at Activision's track record.
Neversoft - Purchased by Activision and told to make Tony Hawk Pro Skater. They then proceed to make 10 Tony Hawk games. Couple side projects. Also tasked with Guitar Hero after Harmonix was purchased by MTV Games. Make 5 Guitar Hero games.
Treyarch - Acquired by Activision in 2001. Immediately tasked with Call of Duty games and Spider-Man games.
Infinity Ward - Makes Call of Duty, which becomes successful. Takes Activision all of one day to buy the company. Here we are nearly a decade later, and what has Infinity Ward made? FIVE Call of Duty games. Not a single other game.
Activision Upcoming Line-Up Consists of the Following:
Tranformers
Spider-Man
Call of Duty
Various Movie Related "Licensed" Games.
EA may have some poor business practices, but at least they try to make good games...
Activision just takes IPs and milks them until they are completely worthless. They destroy perfectly good developers, and they are generally a drain on the creativity of the entire industry.
Bank of America is far worst. EA should win or be in the running for worst American VG related company.
GD1551
You do realize that the title EA won was voted by the people, who had to choose between Bank of America and EA as the worst company.
-
EA is by far the worst publisher, even if they do have decent studios under their belt.
