I could say the same about almost any system :)

Espada12

You could but then you'd be wrong with that baseless claim.

Well let's go by GS.

According to them the 360 has 296 games above A.

239 games under A.

Total Games = 535

Percent = 44.6% of 360 games are trash.

That's alot. Which is why I can make the arguement almost 1/2 the game on the 360 are trash. I bet it's even more lopsided for the PS2. The most popular system will always attract the most rubbish.

I wouldn't call a 6.5 or 6.0 game trash, or even some 5.5's either (Disaster: Day of Springs to mind for me). But even so 6.0 is average so I wouldn't say average = trash.

This is system wars. There are 3 ranges of A's. If a game is not in there, it fails according to SW.

Did you really just try to spin that? Does it even matter if a game is multiplatform or not, if it's still a A or better title... it's a good game. Period. Being exclusive doesn't make the game "magically" better. Over-scored because of "HD hype" :| ... Yeah, believe whatever you so please, mate.

Stevo_the_gamer

It does matter if a game is multi plat or not. If PS3/360 share those games then they are basically substitutable and have to share their success or failure. You know lots of those mediocre games get over scored on the so-called HD consoles while good Wii games sometimes get underscored.

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn anyone? You can't say with a straight face that the game got a fair review here. The only way to truly distinguish the consoles by their seperate value is to go by exclusives, so why don't you do the number crunching for exclusives only?

A conservative figure given how few games, and how few of the true Shovelware like Anubis has been reviewed by Edge

I dont like Edge not because they are harsh, but because they have NO standards and hardly justify their low scores. I mean Dementium got a 5/10

FirstDiscovery

Much lower than I would have expect and that is about the more than likly. Look at Anubis it was on the PS2 and PC for years before getting ported on to the Wii.

Yeah, you mean just like Halo Wars or Ratchet & Clank? All platforms suffer from the odd bad review.

That would be correct if the the definition of a multiplat is that it's on every console, but it just means it's on more than one. If your going to compare, say, Ps3 and Wii, it would be stupid to ignore the mass of games that are shared between 360, Ps3 and PC just because Ps3 isn't the only console you can play them on. See?

[QUOTE="Mr_Nordquist"]

I'm pretty sure the same goes for most every system.

Stevo_the_gamer

You sure?

According to Metacritic... this is how it goes:

Xbox 360:

  • 304 A or better games
  • Total games: 603
  • Percentage: 50% of games score A or better

---

PS3:

  • 190 A or better games
  • Total games: 317
  • Percentage: 60% of games score A or better

---

Wii:

  • 133 A or better games
  • Total games: 389
  • Percentage: 34% of games score A or better

That's not really that bad it's not as good has the 360 or the PS3. But that is still 132 games which are A and above in a little over 2 years. That more titles than I own with all three systems put together. Just wondering what is the PS2 or GC percentage?

It all just means that review scores are inaccurate and overall unreliable, even when averaged out.

The review scores are used due to them being the same playing ground for all games. An average of reviews is the most objective way to view game quality. There is no better way for us to talk about library quality without throwing in too much of our own subjective spin.

Any way one looks at it this gens reviews are full of fail on just about if not all sites and zines. I can name off tons of games that got scored wrong in a big way on all systems.

Well that means 35% are good, something most on SW won't even admit to. That's enough GOOD games to keep normal people happy.

You think Wii gamers get enough "options" when it comes to games? Was 2008 a good year for Wii gamers? Just how many "good" options came by.... 18? Or was it 19 games?

2008, the Wii had: No More Heroes, World of Goo, Call of Duty: World at War, Mario Kart Wii, Guitar Hero World Tour, Rock Band, MLB Power Pros 2008, Blast Works, Pro Evo Soccer 2008, De Blob, Fifa Soccer '09 all play, Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution 2, Wario Land: Shake it, Animal Crossing: City Folk, WWE Smackdown versus Raw 2009, Lego Indiana Jones, Order Up, Okami Wii edition, TV Show King, Toki Tori, My Sims Kingdom, Shaun White Snowboarding...granted, some of these titles are multiplat, and they may not be your cup of tea, but nothing in this list is below 7.5.

Scored wrong according to who? See you're adding your own subjective spin. If we take the average of professinal reviewers it is far more objective (despite it being based ona mass of subjective content).

Well I've been gaming for a long time, a lot longer than most of these "professionals" have, and not all mind you, but lots of them are very off score-wise and point-wise in a lot of reviews these days. But you are right that it is subjective to everyone on what they think about any given game, that's why they can not be a standard to determine game quality overall.

Meh, the PS2 was able to get that amount in a year's time and that console was a pain to develop for. You would ask for that... make me do more work (Not like it's difficult). :P

Gamecube:

263 games have scored A or better

Total Number of games: 502

Percentage: 52%

---

PS2

786 games have scored A or better

Total Number of games: 1596 (I'm assuming a lot of Japanese titles are not in this number -- seems a little small)

Percentage: 49%

---

And just for kicks and giggles...

DS:

237 A or better games

Total Number of games: 617

Percentage: 38%

---

PSP:

194 A or better games

Total Number of games: 422

Percentage: 46%

It does matter if a game is multi plat or not. If PS3/360 share those games then they are basically substitutable and have to share their success or failure. You know lots of those mediocre games get over scored on the so-called HD consoles while good Wii games sometimes get underscored.

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn anyone? You can't say with a straight face that the game got a fair review here. The only way to truly distinguish the consoles by their seperate value is to go by exclusives, so why don't you do the number crunching for exclusives only?

Bigboi500

It really doesn't -- a good game is still a good game no matter what system it's on. Yeah, it's a conspiracy. Every system gets games which seem to be "underscored". The Wii isn't the only system to have a game that gets the "supposedly" shaft. And I surely hope you're not calling games like GTAIV or Assassin's Creed "mediocre". Your Pro-Wii attitude is clouding your reason, mate. And yet you tried to tell me eariler that you're not part of the "sheep". And you wonder why I find that hard to believe?

Can't say anything about it -- haven't played it nor will I play it. Halo Wars anyone? Empire: Total War anyone? Rachet and Clank anyone?

I agree, exclusives are important to distinguish the SYSTEMS. However, multiplatform games do exist and they play an important role in the gaming industry. You can't just rub them off and say they're not important. There's a plethora of multiplatform games that another system doesn't get -- but yet somehow they're still "unimportant"; saying such is just a knee-jerk response when you're grasping at straws.

And here's your exclusive list via Gamespot scores.

Say what you will but I like all systems, and the Wii gets unnecessary hate here that needs correcting. Reviews are just casual guidelines to quickly glance over for an idea of what a game is and nothing more than that.

Even Willy thinks you're part of the sheep ; let's not hide what system you favor the most. I enjoyed my PS3, my Xbox 360, and some aspects about the Wii, and I love my PC. I enjoy and prefer my PC the most (by leaps and bounds really), and thus I'm a hermit. Sure, I've owned all systems... but that doesn't mean I can't favor one system over another.

The Wii gets unnecessary hate? Perhaps it just gets too much "baseless" hate from vague claims with no foundation -- that's why I'm here, to give reasons why the Wii is a "mediocre" system and back those such reasons up, which I normally always do and if I don't, I point them to my sig (Which I can't anymore considering it's far too outdated). That, and to keep Haziqonfire on his toes all the time defending the Wii. Haha.

Nevertheless, reviews are there for you -- the gamer -- to see how the game fairs within it's respective genre and platform. Some individuals place too much attention to the numerical value placed upon the review itself instead of looking at the content of the review.

95% of that 54% has been provided by Ubisoft's Imagine and Petz series of games.

[QUOTE="Bigboi500"]Say what you will but I like all systems, and the Wii gets unnecessary hate here that needs correcting. Reviews are just casual guidelines to quickly glance over for an idea of what a game is and nothing more than that.Stevo_the_gamer

It's true I do favor the Wii over the 360. But to call me a sheep is nonsense. Let me brush you up on the definition of a sheep, cow, lem, etc. It means one who blindly follows their system of choice EVEN when they shouldn't AND never talks favorably about other systems. So the most accurate label you could give me in SW regards would be a shemming. Either way those names are childish, inaccurate, and full of spitefull nonsense. I'm a GAMER baby. ;)

A Gamer? Well, duh. :P Meh, I see a fanboy as merely a devoted fan to a particular system. Nevertheless, I'd classify yourself as being very pro-Wii, in place of "sheep". Happy? :P

[QUOTE="Bigboi500"]Any way one looks at it this gens reviews are full of fail on just about if not all sites and zines. I can name off tons of games that got scored wrong in a big way on all systems.

Bigboi500

Scored wrong according to who? See you're adding your own subjective spin. If we take the average of professinal reviewers it is far more objective (despite it being based ona mass of subjective content).

LOL that's ridiculous. If you want to blindly follow such poor quality "reviews" be my guest. But don't claim they are professional in anything other than writting sklls.

I don't blindly follow review scores for my own personal purchases. They are professional reviews, it is their paid job (in most cases) to do that. So laugh all you want but what you just stated has no impact on the concept we were discussing.

Why are they professional? Because GS hired them? Did you believe the Iraq war was over because George W. said "mission accomplished" wearing a pilot suit on a aircraft carrier?

B/c it is their profession. :| Yes b/c GS hired them, damn do you know the definition of a professional (ie "following an occupation as a means of livelihood or for gain")? And what the hell does that have to do with anything, you go on such irrelevant tangeants to prove a point *shakes head*.

This is not outrageous at all. I'm sure 65-70% of PS2 games are garbage and it has one of the greatest game libraries of all time. Tons of licensed games and shovelware are on every console.

Wrong, I already said I don't really use reviews for my own personal means that much. However, here in SW reviews are the best way for us to pass any objective views on a library is to use reviews.

Yeah I'm aware of SW hypocritical so-called-rules, but I also see lots of people using other scores too. GS scores only count in the hype threads. Sometimes GS don't review all the games either.
