I have had this game for months now, and it is a masterpiece. Truely unique game this gen, I hope it does well here in the States, and someone eventually brings it to PAL so the folks over there can have their own version.

Seriously everyone, if you have any intrest in a hardcore, top quality, engrossing, challenging, deep, RPG, with tons, and tons of hours of play, you need to check out Demon's Souls reguardless of any system bias you may have.

The game is just really, really good.

Well, we can't quite refer to a reviewer with no credibility for ownage, now can we? ;) It's easy to forget why we disregard reviewers when suddenly they're on our own side, but I'm sure you already know that.

This definitely has to be the sleeper hit of the year. Right now it's averaging an 89% over at Gamerankings, and getting numerous praise from the gaming media and gamers themselves.

i am gettingmore and more excited about this game every day...day one purchase for me

Exactly, I think people are more in shock with this review score than anything else considering their track record.

I think the idea that being close to some arbitrary average made up by different sites with different standards, different scales and different opinions makes you credible is silly. I don't see how people can't understand my concept of thought here. As for your answer, that basically does answer the question fairly.

Again, I hate stating things I'm quite sure you already know, especially as someone who's been on SW for quite some time and ought to know how a fanboy's...Scratch that, fans' minds in general work, but scores do matter, just not to us in a direct way.

Any game we like or at least expect to like is a game we'd like to see sell well because we think the developer deserves all the money they get. The better the game's image is in the mind of the average person that's not us, the more likely they're going to buy it. The more people who buy it, the more likely we'll get a sequel.

Anything and everything that can be used to boost a product's image will be used. Hmm.. which meaning am I talking about? I think you should be able to figure that one out for yourself.

Also, no not Everyone is claiming Edge to be legit, nor will they ever probably. There are some that are as W1NGMAN mentioned a little shocked about the review since Edge usually Never gets it right, especially with PS3 games.

But right now, they still suck and many people agree to that, even in this thread. Some are excited to see Demon Souls get a high score especially on Edge, but personally I don't care and was more excited and shocked to see it get such a good score on Eurogamer.

Does that explain a few things?

As for the scores don't mean anything philosophy, I stand by that. I don't think that the image of a game score wise is all that important to be honest. Score whoring is done by gaming enthusiests and the simple fact is that they make up a small chunk of the buying population. To the general public, they don't really know the difference beween a 7 and a 9 and unless you go out of your way to tell them, they won't most likely care. The idea that a simple score holds so much weight is crazy to me. The idea that a "A" game should sell less than a "AAA" game is ridiculous to me. The idea that score helped games like Okami and Zack and Wiki really doesn't sell itself to me. Score is not all that important and in terms of product image, look at what actually sells to people and you'll come to the conclusion that its not important at all.

That's your point of view and I can respect that but that's not how people usually go about review scores here and we are talking about people here, right?

Example:

GS gave Halo Wars a 6.5 while it's averaging an 81% at gamerankings....sure to most GS didn't lose any credibility but at the same time people used the word "wrong" "underrated" and "horrible review" based off of that "arbitrary average"....people here use a base for their claims and that base usually comes from that gameranking average.

Well I kinda was just veering off into general observation and not strictly here with that one. Here its kinda expected (if not still silly) but I see this used on like every site I visit gaming or otherwise. As for the Halo Wars review, I didn't read or play it so I can't comment on it but I still think the idea that being of the average makes you suspicious is crazy.

Well GamerVision isn't exactly the website I look too for reviews (I didn't even know it existed) where as I am always interested in what Edge has to say. they always get crapped on which is annoying because they can actually make a good point. People around here think 7 = bad which is annoying because then any review that doesn't basically love a game is not credible. I hate the way reviews work.
