The 6/10 is the best review. Not gushing over the game, and pointing out it's massive flaws that the other review's somehow missed. I'm sure developer's put as much $ into buying reviews as they did making the game.

Gamervision. Do I really need to go in that thread and ask why the review is being posted? I haven't read the review (or played Demon Souls) so I can' comment on the actual content but hey, can't call into question the credibilty of a website everyone craps on if the website doesn't get crapped on can you?

I dunno if you do or not, justthough it was funny how you sure felt the need to do it with this review. But hey it's SW i get it :P
Well GamerVision isn't exactly the website I look too for reviews (I didn't even know it existed) where as I am always interested in what Edge has to say. they always get crapped on which is annoying because they can actually make a good point. People around here think 7 = bad which is annoying because then any review that doesn't basically love a game is not credible. I hate the way reviews work.
Haha ya I can't remember hearing about them either. Fair enough about liking edge and getting annoyed with the hate it gets, I could see that getting annoying as well and would probably do the same you were doing. I just don't come around here to much other then for some Lulz, so I avoid the annoying hypocrisies in regards to fanboys liking a site one month and hating it the next for flopping one of their consoles games. I hardly post outside of Demon's Souls thread I just really enjoy this game so much hah.
So many posts asking about the credibilty of edge or why they matter now, yet none in the thread with the 6/10 review calling into question it's credibility. And no edge doesn't gain instant credibility to me by giving a deserving game AAA .Phacet

Nice opinion.Cool so you played the game to base this opinion??? I have an no I don't agree theres my opinion isn't sharing funPopularity lol, never been a fan of that :P
As for the scores don't mean anything philosophy, I stand by that. I don't think that the image of a game score wise is all that important to be honest. Score whoring is done by gaming enthusiests and the simple fact is that they make up a small chunk of the buying population. To the general public, they don't really know the difference beween a 7 and a 9 and unless you go out of your way to tell them, they won't most likely care. The idea that a simple score holds so much weight is crazy to me. The idea that a "A" game should sell less than a "AAA" game is ridiculous to me. The idea that score helped games like Okami and Zack and Wiki really doesn't sell itself to me. Score is not all that important and in terms of product image, look at what actually sells to people and you'll come to the conclusion that its not important at all.

I'd say, given that games like Okami and Zack & Wiki had neither brand name (No, having 'Capcom' in the corner doesn't count) nor advertising as far as I know (Seriously Capcom? :|), that 'small chunk' composed of enthusiasts like us suddenly becomes significant. Of that small yet significant chunk, we have Capcom fans, people who actually do their research, and people who go by word of mouth. Those that go by word of mouth are usually uncertain whether or not they'd like a game even after research and are dependant on score. Said people can distinguish an A from an AAA. As for how much they make up, I don't have any numbers.
Slightly off-topic: I've gone with word of mouth a few times. I can't say it has failed me yet seeing as it got me Z&W, No More Heroes, and Trauma Center among others.:D

First of all, PSN ID please? I'd like to see how many Demon's Souls trophies you got to come to that conclusion.
Second of all, did you even read that 6/10 review? It was overflowing with praise....it just whined that it was too hard. There were barely any negatives mentioned at all.
And finally, From Software buying great reviews? Yeah, fairly unknown developers are known to be doing that.

I was speaking of the general public though. As I said, score whores will let these things affect there buying habits but in the long run they aren't important. Despite being bought by this group those games are still considered financial failures. Anyway, I buy games off of impressions from people I know, gamers around here, my interest and just some general review points. I've stopped caring for all this A/AA/AAA garbage. It just doesn't do anything for me anymore.
