EDGE Scores (lots of early reviews + some exclusive previews)

Bayonetta also got a 9 from some site as well, I played the demo on 360 and actually liked it, a lot, not surprised that it got AAAA there.

EDGE magazine is actually leans more towards those interested in game development not so much game enthusiasts.

Their reviews tend to focus on the overall "polish" of a game, and not so much how consumers may react to it. Hence feature heavy cutting edge ambitious games can really get screwed as far a scores go.

Agreed. I loved Crackdown and I'll pick up Crackdown 2, but they've done a horrible job trying to get a Crackdown lover like myself excited for the sequel. If it's polished and tuned to a glossy finish and there is more to do, more story, and not the repetitive bosses, then that'll be enough for me, but I need to see more.

Surprised they scored ST lower then PH, wonder what other reviews will say.

Spirit Tracks an 8?

Hopefully they just didn't like the game, because when I get it, I'm not putting it down.

EDGE is so harsh, i'd say its good

i'd say ST is getting 9.5 here (since its looking so much more epic than PH and it got 9) and it will beat GTA for handheld GOTY

i honestly think ST could get a 10 for a handheld game

An 8 for Sin and Punishment 2 is a good sign.

With Edge's crappy inconsistency in scores there's no wonder why no-one I know reads their magazine.

I disagree on AC2 score. I sunk in 30 hours of solid gameplay, solid 9.

i knew bayonetta was going to deliver,

40 from famitsu, and people were all saying "buuhuu but its famitsu, they are not credible!"

(even if all their 40 scores got atleast AAA on here)

i just hope people really buy this game,

Dragon Age a 5, yet Football Manager 2010 gets an 8? You have got to be kidding me. Then again, it is not suprising considering some of the scores they have given to role playing games in the past:

Mass Effect - 7/10

Jade Empire - 7/10

Baldur's Gate 2 - 8/10

The Witcher - 5/10

Morrowind - 6/10

Oblivion - 8/10

Fallout 3 - 7/10

Diablo - 7/10

Diablo II - 6/10

I know, I know, "it is the written review that counts with EDGE", right? I don't care, a scale of 1-10 is a scale of 1-10 no matter how you slice it. I just don't buy the excuse that EDGE magazine is an exception and a 5 from from them equates to a 7 or 8 elsewhere. If such is the case, then what does the that make the 10 they gave to Halo 3? A 12/10 elsewhere?:lol: I don't care how respected they are, their reviewing system flat out blows in the "We just want to prove we are different" sort of way.

I practically laughted my a$$ out on EDGE's Diablo review. And God of War is better than Bayonetta.

That's like one of the best games last gen, and was my 1st Xbox game too.

They don't seem to know a great RPG even if it's right in front of them.

To the people complaining about Edge giving out low scores to RPG's, wait till you hear this. They gave Fable 2 a 10 :lol:

crackdown 2 sounds HOT. do want. no cutscenes? beast. so tired of that 'omg look our game is so CINEMATIC' crap. its great to see a game thats just going to get down to the nitty gritty. also very interested to see how they change up the city from the first one. mad max in an urban environment sounds pretty unstoppable.

Yes, that is obvious and was part of my point. Meaning, the reviews are laden with bias and personal preference over giving the consumer a fair and objective assessment based on if RPG fans will like it or not.

Bayonetta scores a 10 factorial; that's incredible! Excellent score. This is the review summary, taken from the Bayonetta (360) board:

The demo convinced me to pre-order the game and this review is really helping build my anticipation for the title.

Also, great scores for Sin and Punishment 2 and Spirit Tracks. I'm hoping they can get AAA scores on GS when they're released. And nice score for LIT.

Wow, Bayonetta keeps getting great scores, i'm so hyped with this game, it looks awesome, i love the demo and the TGS trailer is amazing, can't wait for it.

Also, S&P2 looks great.

AC2 an 8 is fail. No score for DAO on PS3 is fail.
