Elden Ring main game content is 30 hours long

DS3 even including side content and DLC is about 30-35 hours when you know where you're going so this sounds right, and the open world means there's dozens of hours more to explore otherwise this time around. Frankly though length on it's own has always been a meaningless statistic. What matters is the value provided in each hour.

That probably doesn't include the number of times you die and retry, which would double the length.

That is very reasonable, especially for just the main portion without the side content.

It's fine by me. I already have too many overly large games in my backlog anyway. Honestly, I'd be happy if Elden Ring's story was even 15 hours.

You have to actually read the whole interview. 30 hours is just the main line. Several dozens of more hours on top of that, the dev said. In the same paragraph...

Metroid Dread clearly showed how a short game can be really good. What matters in the end is fun per hour.

How are people confused about this - most open world games have a main story in the 15-30 hour range. You could easily sink 80+ hours into them (and this, surely). Take any example you want - TW3, whatever. The main story is relatively concise. The meat of the game is all the side adventures. A main story longer than 30 in this type of game would be worrisome - probably massively padded out bullshit or a game better suited for a more linear experience

Might just be the last developer that's safe to pre-order from, and I've already got mine.

A 30 hour Main Story isnt a 30 hour long game. It is EXTREMELY likely people will be pursuing side content. If you just include hte main content, most open world games are around 10 hours long.

Odds are most content in this game iwll be side content, like it is with most other open world games. Breath of the Wild has around 180 hours of Content for a completionist run. But the game was first beaten around 2 hours after it launched.

As far as I am concerned, making game extending stuff side content is a good thing. I just hope that what is there, is worthwhile. And not throwaway stuff.

Negative. I have about 4 hours in for multiplayer. I have 45 hours in for campaign. Completed campaign, have half the skulls, all the armor lockers, all the spartan cores, and forerunners archives. I still need to get half of the propaganda towers and quite a few audio logs.

If you don't want to play the entire game, sure you can speed run through it. I can get through the entire HZD campaign in 1 to 2 hours and skip 95% of it. That's exciting.

Thanks to the semi-open world in "Halo Infinite," players' time spent with the campaign may vary wildly. "Halo Infinite" contains a good amount of side content, including outposts to reclaim from the Banished and High-Value Targets (essentially overpowered enemies lurking in the wild) to hunt down. Players who want to check out every side mission and find every easter egg can probably expect somewhere between 30-40 hours of gameplay.

Unless you don't obtain all of the audio files, you don't get to experience the entire campaign story.

This game is so casual i wish they went back to sony and did a hardcore bloodborne 2 I don't like casual microsoft with ez modes and garbage.

Elden Ring will easily show us what BOTW could be if it had engaging combat. I hope many Zelda/Switch fans give it shot. They'll probably realize how shallow the combat mechanics of BOTW are when they return.
