In Mac gaming news, TeamXBox notes that vice president of Epic Games, Mark Rein, revealed that both Gears of War and Unreal Tournament 3 are both coming to the Mac.

"We're an independent company and we make engine technology. Don't forget, we're also doing Macintosh."

So the show's host, Geoff Keighley, asked: "Gears of War is coming to the Mac?"

"Yes, Gears is coming to the Mac and so is UT," said Rein.

One big announcement at WWDC was that EA was once again developing games for the Mac. EA, however, is using TransGaming's Cider to port their games to the Mac. As a result, their games will be Intel-only.

There has been no official word on the method behind Epic Games' Mac ports, but there have been comments that the Unreal Engine 3 was being officially ported to the Mac, suggesting PowerPC support would be possible.

Update: Ryan Gordon (programmer) states that neither Gears of War or Unreal Tournament 3 uses TransGaming's Cider technology.

It's still another reason to buy a 360 down the bog.

Epic and ID always published their games on the Mac. That's nothing new. There's even a Linux version of their newest games.

Good, seeming as how Mac's are cooler than Windows, I'll be looking foreward to it. Although I may still get it for PS3.

Well, I'll admit that there ain't much sales to be made, Mac's are superior to Windows in almost every way. Except gaming. But for the most part, I like Macs 10x more.

Or I can play it on my Gaming PC (even though it is pretty horrible) or 360?

I got my macbook for school, not games

Isn't the most powerful card on a Mac a 2600 Pro or XT? Not saying it's a bad card but Mac is hardly a gamer's machine.

Macs are still over-priced "cool kids have them so i want one" machines

plus Bill Gates and Microsft care about their consumers and always make sure their products are the best quaility. They don't care about the money like apple

thats not true.....more and more devs are supporting them....EA is about to begin porting all of their bigger PC games to Macs...and ID has always made games for all OS's.

oh my god....

Epic has not only sold out to consoles but they are destroying the fans they once built up for some more moola...

Its not like the company is in need of cash, they have an engine technology. Not to mention one of the most played FPS's games of all time.

They should of just stayed with PC....

2600 is a Dx 10 card. It's a budget-priced card that resembles the 2900 series.

How is this news? This was announced ages ago and even then it was like duh. They make Mac versions of their games, they even make linux versions of their games so what? As someone who owns a Mac I'll probably end up getting both versions if only to see how they perform on the same hardware because as someone who has played the Mac version of UT2k4 it kind of performs better than a PC of the same hardware ever would.

Some previous Epic titles:

Jazz Jackrabbit 2 - Windows, Mac OS

Unreal - Windows, Mac OS/X

Unreal Tournament - Windows, Mac OS/X, Linux

Unreal Tournament 2003 - Windows, Mac OSX, Linux

Unreal Tournament 2004 - Windows, Mac OSX, Linux

This isn't news. Epic is just continuing what they've always done.
