Pretty impressive pencil sketch

Zerocrossings

well they obviously changed their mind about the art form(GS doesn't let me say s-t-y-l-e. is it a curse word or something?) It now looks like a disneyland ride lol and i actually find that creepy. those rides always gave me the creep because of the weird lighting. especiall the winnie the pooh one, Mr. Toad, & who framed roger rabbit man sheesh that ride was glowing everywhere.

Yeah i think they changed the art direction alot. Tbh, i dont hate the new look, its just that the old one is so much much more unique and awesome.

yeah the old one did look better, but hey this is disney were talkin about here hahaha

To the people disappointed: Did you really expect it to look anything like the concept art?II-FBIsniper-II

Well... I expected the Concepts laid out in the Concept art to be brought forward... Isn't that the whole point of concept art?

These look like two completely different games.

I'm not sure what to think. The graphics, atm, look ok, but not that impressive. But at the same time, there's still a year or more of development time left to polish the game.

Right now, I'll keep my hype level at "cautiously optimistic."

I guess. But part of the reason why its so awesome is because of the contrast between the family-friendly Disneycharacters in an apocalyptic wasteland.

It seems the text in the screens still refers to the world as a 'wasteland'. I hope this is a good sign.

The graphics could look better, but Junction Point still has a year before this game is released, so I sure they will polish it more. And after reading the article in GI, EM sounds like it could be great. I will definitely keep a eye on this game.

toast_burner

They need to make the game look more like this then, because the screenshots dont look as impressive. But you know what, this game is still early in development, im just gonna shut up about it...Until gameplay videos are shown at least. Maybe the game would look better in motion, screens dont normally do games justice.

wait what, I thought this was supposed to be steam punk, that just looks like an episode of Mickey House CLubhouse :?

toast_burner

i think you start of n disney land which is colourful and nice but then oswald and his army attack and mickey ends up in the land of forgotten disney characters where every thing is dark and steampunk

I read a different story in the GI article. Seems like the forgotten world is a model on Yensid's desk, who created the world (which looks like Disneyland)for the forgotten disney characters. One day Mickey spills some ink on it, and try to clean it and leave, but it is already too late. The spill turn that forgotten world into a dark steampunk world, which is then controlled by the Phantom Blot. Mickey doesn't know about this until the Phantom Blot grabs him through a mirror and drag him into the world. There Mickey must escape the blot, get Oswald to trust him, and restore the forgotten world. That what I have read in the article.

Although Im still hyped for the game, I am also slightly disappointed. I don't know why they wen't with a lighter image, its a bit of a let down but theirs still plenty to be revealed. Warren is one of the best in the biz, im sure he knows what's going on.

He said he blamed Disney. Probably means that he felt Disney changed the art because it looked too dark. Why would he blame Disney for the Wii's technical limits? Unless he was implying that Disney is lazy?

Yes you could blame Disney or Junction Point for not maxing out the Wii's hardware but even if they did, it wouldn't look as good as that concept art.

Exactly. I blame Disney for making Epic Mickey less "epic" than it should be. They're not allowing the concept artists and modelers go all-out and make amazing visuals because they don't want their "magical kingdom" to be portrayed as some dark, scary world.

Not at this level with Mickey. Let's be honest, Disney makes scary things, but it's more like fun-scary rather than scary-scary. Pirates of the Caribbean could be considered to be scary for youngsters, but not for everyone else.

Thats not the point :| These are Disney's beloved an well known animated characters. Any backlash from the creation of a grim Mickey could lead to even hard financial times for the parks and characters.

Why even *EPIC* is on that title? Its on Wii lol it looks like those sonic games on same console. If they wanted to release da real Epicness this game should be on ps360pc and only then it would have a thing called *atmosphere* if its what they want in that game.

[QUOTE="CPM_basic"][QUOTE="C-Lee"]Wow. The concept art totally fooled me. The graphics look like they are from the N64.Syferonik

lol that's the first impression I had too! The concept art had me fooled. Looks like Spyro the dragon from ps1.. and about just as fun bleh.

LOL its on Wii what were you both expecting? same will happend with RS2....soooo many people gonna be fooled its gonna be awesome sauce :)

They were expecting better graphics than the N64 and PS1, which should be expected as the Wii is more powerful than that...

I imagined more depressing/cold/dark environments. The concept art looks great.

I'm shattered. That's so different from the concept art; which was the thing that caught my attention about this game

My feelings exactly. Another generic Disney game wouldn't have even registered on my radar. The concept they teased was my entire basis for hype. Now? Well, another genreic Disney game that could have been so much more seems to be incoming...
