yeah keep talking nonsense. The VA was fine and did the job well considering the budget. He was believable for me anyway. And the controls were perfect for their purpose. How could they have been improved? Or are you just spouting empty claims?
seanmcloughlin
Wow just ...wow if you think that over done accent was fine then you have very low standards. Controls were lame dragging stuff around in the air was lame. Try turning a wheel with it omg its bad.
Maybe the accent was overdone but I still stand by the point that he was a believable character. Not the best in the business but there have been a LOT worse with far bigger budget. And that's how the controls were supposed to be, it's supposed to immerse you. Dragging things is exactly how you would do it in real life (not the floating in mid air bit) and turning a wheel like that was to add tension. It would be far less tense if it was just click and have everything do it itself.
Still though tell me how to improve the controls. I asked you to before
Agreed, the VA in Amnesia TDD is FAR better than the VA in Gears 3.Never beat the first one, the story didn't seem that great and the voice acting sucked (I was going through a very picky phase with gaming at the time), but I'll keep an eye on this one anyway, could be interesting.

Playing with a controller on a couch far from the TV lying down doesn't sound like a very tense atmosphere.
Played up close with mouse and keyboard with the lights off late at night with headphones on and you are rockin a scary night :P

Let the heart attack prone be damned, I hope this game is scary as it get's.
I rarely get scared from anything, so any chance for a good jump is more than welcome.

I also hope this scares the pants off me. Amnesia already made me feel edgy when playing but I really want to be terrified. We need more great horror games. Not those action gorefests

needs rumble also make it less floaty and u should be able to use 2 hands.
[QUOTE="loosingENDS"]What's more unimmersive than you tumbling around with analog sticks trying frustratingly to aim it correctly? If it comes to consoles with proper pad controls will be much more interesting
The kayboard/mouse completly destroy any atmosphere and the xpadder pad attempt is akward too
Generally these games should be on consoles, noone wants to play them on PC with terrible controls

No problem ;) Anything to keep people updated on this. It shot straight to my most hyped game of 2012 now :D
Sounds great, looks like they plan on making a more casual spin off which is honestly fine by me. Not enough people beat Amnesia darn it. Hopefully the true Amnesia sequel will go back to its roots though.
Oh hell yeah!
Indie games have a different feel to them (things like sounds and graphics) that makes them so weird. I have such a weird connection to Penumbra, it felt like something out of a dream for some reason.
Back on topic, real excited for this. Seems like a good year for PC (Dialbo 3, Guild Wars 2, Amnesia)

Mine too. I thoroughly enjoyed amnesia though it was scary as hell. I bought Dear Esther last week as well. IF the writing is just as good it's gonna be one if not THE scariest game this gen. I have a lot of faith in them to pull it off.dear esther and amnesia have brilliant atmosphere with very similar narratives of a guy alone talking to himself.even dear esther freaked me out once i realised there were black figured ghosts in it that disappeared when you looked directly at them. So pumped for this. Definite day 1I'll buy this day one no matter what, but I seriously need to finish Amnesia. F*ck that stupid cellar level, and my stupid broken PC I need $65 to get back.
Hopefully Frictional releases this one or the last one on consoles too, its simplistic and easy enough to run that they could really make some good dough from the PSN and XBL store.

But people often turn around sharply while running to check if something is chasing them. I don't know if that would work on console even with a quick look back button as it demands a bit of flexibility.

I think it could work, there are only like 5 buttons on PC that need to be used, so a Resident Evil 4 styled quick look behind or quick turn around button could help if people have an issue turning around, or they could just bump up the sensitivity.
Either way I'd get it on Steam since I like to play sequels on the system I got their predecessors on. It would be a bit jarring, like playing Revengeance on Xbox 360 after being used to the entire series on PSone, PS2 and PS3.
It'll be my goal to finish this before Day9 does his playthrough (I'm assuming he will). I watched so many Amnesia videos it seems like to took away the scare factor. Still scared to finish the game though :P

It's SW's village idiot. Ignore it and it'll go away.completed unrelated, well related in a way...
Cry of fear just got released, this is a half life 1 mod with a heavily modified engine from the creators of afraid of monsters, and supposedly it's *(*$fkin scary.
oh and just for SW, yet another reason PC gaming **** all over consoles, old games like hl1 still have life in them.

Chineseroom is essentialy one guy, so most likely it's their games plus script/storytelling by Pinchbeck.[QUOTE="G-Lord"]
This game jumped right into my most anticipated games list. Can't wait to see more. I wonder how much Frictional is involved, they might be working on a completely different project.
AdrianWerner
Thanks for clearing that up and thanks for the link to the interview sean.
I'm glad that Frictional seems to be highly involved in this title, it sounded more like a spin-off at first.
Damn so many PC games but I'm saving my money for a new PC :(
ahh who cares I have so many single player games I haven't finished yet.

I don't know if this is a joke or not but gamepads for PC are infinitly superior than console. Why because I can use whatever one I choose.

Must have consulted Trent Reznor on that title.
Anyway, Frictional are great developers with great horror sensibilities, and the fellows behind Dear Esther have a lot of skill and originality in storytelling. The two are a natural fit, and this game should be incredible.

Yeah, optimization seems like an alien concept to those people, Amnesia is proof of that.
