TG Daily could tell right away that the game was really tailored for the PS3, even though an Xbox 360 version is slated for next year. For example, a new hoverboard is controlled using the controller's motion sensitive Sixaxis technology, and allows the character to move at twice the speed of foot travel.

"I don't even know how we'll do mods on the Xbox," said Morris. He said the PS3 online network is very developer-friendly. Mods could even be downloaded directly from the PS3 via the Internet browser, or brought over from a PC by way of a Memory Stick. Xbox Live has a very closed system, and takes around two weeks for a developer to get a new piece of content on the Xbox Live Marketplace."

That's a rather bold statement and the first time I've ever heard a dev call the PSN "developer-friendly." Guess this could be considered propagandic news for Sony.

So? Mods are a great thing, UT has a great modding community, if they can pull this off it'd be a major plus.

He means that PSN is more "open" than XBL. For a former PC-only developer's standpoint, it gives them the freedom they're generally used to.

I was pretty impressed that Sony and Epic were both working on this game to get the engine running great on PS3. That alone is enough to ensure PS3 will be getting the definitive version of UT3 - now hopefully the PS3 fans give this game the proper support.

Superior online system isn't going to happen as long as PSN is still playing catch-up to XBL.

When XBL is going to have a problem is when PSN matches XBL feature-to-feature....or real close to it.

I bet GeOW would have been better on the PS3 even though it wouldn't really look better, I'd rather play a game with free maps and easily distributed user-created content any day then to have to purcahse everything off the Xbox marketplace and still have to pay for it monthly.

I think PSN will already shine by the end of the year and next with LBP and UT3, VOD, HOME, possibly more demos on a weekly basis.

Possibly, we'll never know. Gears wouldn't not have been ready for release on the PS3 yet though....because UE3 still needs to be optimized for the PS3.

And I pay for XBL yearly, not monthly. Only fools pay for it monthly.
