UT3 is NOT UT2k4. The gameplay on the PC is also changed from 2k4. 2k4 was superior in my opinion.gamer620

The AI and game-play direction felt good to me. A third person shooter had never been presented quit like that. One reason it is so popular.

I found it realitively easy to trick the AI into leaving itself exposed even when taking cover and it's patterns could get predictable. the third person shooting was a nice change up and over all the game was pretty good. I found split screen coop the most fun way to play and I feel like the online was not nearly as good as people made it out to be.

It will come back to bite him eventually. Epic's attitude towards gaming is a prime example of what is wrong with western developers today and why gaming is panned by the media. I completely disagree with him and his company's views on the industry and overall advancement as a whole. It's not just about being 'bigger and better' and being more technologically advanced. Too many companies fall for this and end up disappointing in the end. Isn't that what happened to the Halo series? It got too big (in terms of conflict scale) for its own good. Don't repeat this with Gears, please.

Epic still hasn't admitted that UT3 didn't sell as well as planned due to lack of any sort of innovation hence why it got annihilated in sales to CoD4 and TF2. It's the same as UT2004, only a stripped down and prettier version. Their answer is that PC gaming is turning into 'casual' based stuff, however they seem to forget that CoD4 and the Orange Box were one of the better selling titles last year. With their current standpoint I have doubt that Gears 2 will be disappointing.

The hate for Epic is old news at this point. I still like them.

Let's end this arguement right now. Epic makes its money by licensing its engine technology to thrid party developers. The Wii can't run the latest iteration of this engine (Unreal engine 3) in all of its glory, due to outdated hardware. Therefore, the huge market growth represented by the Wii can't be tapped properly by Epic, which means they cannot make money off of it.

While Epic does release some good games, there track record isn't the greatest. Witness the huge step down in Unreal II, Unreal tournament 2003, and the first Unreal Chamionship on Xbox. There is plenty of trashy, overpriced, broken shovelware on the Wii. Does any of it really need to be powered by any version of the Unreal Engine?

I can see where he is coming from. He is right they will never make a Wii game. Manly because the only thing they really have is their engine. And they can't show off their engine on the Wii. They have only worked on two IPs in the last decade. If for some reason UE3 were to become second best to another engine they wouldn't be able to survive for long. So they have to continue to work on UE3 to keep it the prefered choice of engines among third party devs. By working on a Wii game they would have to actually come up with a new IP and build a whole new engine.

As to his comment about the Wii selling like a virus well that is kind of true. What he said is true alot of people are doing that. They play the Wii at a friends and they like so they get one. As to the fact about no good games well that is just a matter of opinion.

Epic are a top dev, UT3 was amazing, it was good change for the series and the maps are seriously awesome. But at the same time, they should keep their mouth shut. Concentrate the UE3 no PC as well, and grow out of its limitations by adapting specifically for PC.

That way they can get their respect back, because people are forgetting how 'for the consumer' these guys are. Heck, they remove anti-piracy software through patches as they feel its no longer neccesary as those who patch a game are those who own the real thing. Also, lets not forget UC2, MS said a quick port of UT2K4 was fine, what did they do, the made their own equally as good game from the ground up, and then decided to delay the game 6 months to get the map tally to 40.

I'd love to know what Epic has done in the past several years which can be comparable to what Nintendo has achieved. Oh right they have done nothing, Zilch, Zero, Nil! This post sounds more about jealousy than anything else! Theyre stuck producing shoddy games on the so called next generation consoles while the Wii is plodding along selling 1.8 million a month without Epics, Epic games which fall flat on there face due to being severly boring, Repetitive, lack orignality and nothing really new to previous bullcráp which they developed.

Epic are not great developers by any means! Retro Studios have produced better games on the Wii and GC than Epic has produced on any console. Oh right theyre 2nd party developers too.... You guessed it Nintendo. Even Nintendo's 2nd party developers are better than Epics whole team.

Oh and about the Unreal Engine which might be coming to the Wii (Read somewhere that factor 5 are using UE3 for there game)! What a superb engine they made! There is a trend here folks. How long does the Wii have to be the number seller of hardware and software before we can say its no longer a fad? I don't even own a Wii but come, this is getting ridiculous. If the PS3/360 had the hardware and games sales performance of the Wii, would we label it a fad? PS2 was the least powerful system last gen, but nobody called it a fad when it ran the charts.
