MGS4 isn't even the best looking game on the PS3, and it's poorly executed with all the installs.

I thought it looked great and was amazing, but thats just me. But in all honesty, I believe Crysis Warhead should have gotten the award :?

Meh I agree this years "Best of " sucks. There's something wrong with almost every category. Games should have been nominated instead of others, and Some of the editors choices are ridiculous. I disagreed and moved on. It's not like they're gonna change it anyway.

Gamespot seem very sony biased this year. Theres no way mgs should be beating crysis in terms of graphics.

something's up when NHL(enter year) is even nominated, im not saying they were payed off but I'm guessing there's alot of ps3 owners in the gamespot offices,mgs4 good game easily one of the best this year, but as others have said a game like warhead from a technical standpoint beats mgs4 hands down, best storyline I would say goes to mgs4, and best cutscene lol

Gears 2 is a great game and for a lot of people its the perfect game, but MGS4 its out of this world. I mean there are good improvements over the first gears but its not like MGS4, common you can even look every item you found in a super realistic 360 view, you can listen to ipod, you can do everything in MGS4 not to mention the originality of the script, gameplay and the WOW factor that its there every 20 minutes.... when you reach a certain place and a very familiar music begins to play and at the left low corner of the screen appears the name of the song.... the ambient, the place everything just mix and make one of the best games in the history of video games. And the point is that i beleive that the majority off the gamespot staff feeled that way playing MGS4 they felt something that they didnt in the past years just like me. Gears will never have something like that. it will never be that epic. So there is no point in mention Gears 2 as a GOTY because we know who is going to be the winner.

Seriously, stop making conspiracy theories now. Gamespot has chosen MGS4 over your game. Does it mean your game sucks? No. Get over it. This is getting worse than all the fanboy rants last year after rewarding Super Mario Galaxy GOTY.

The graphics category may seem odd, but Gamespot clearly stated their reasons for why they chose MGS4 over the other games.
Lastly, I don't think Sony or any company had to pay anyone to to boost up MGS4's reputation. As some of you may have already noticed, much of the GS members here already think MGS4 is the best game of the year, and one of the greatest games in years. Yet we don't get paid squat for our opinions. Just accept it already, MGS4 is a tough competitor, and it isn't there because undertable briberies were made. People do actually like the game. Does that make it the greatest game ever? That's up to you to decide. Just quit the whining and enjoy the games for a change.

Gears of war 2 while great had its moment in the spotlight, Plus the game wasn't as groundbreaking as when it first came out.

I'm sure there is, but this is SW, so most of the content here will be having to do with or relating to videogames, and anything in between. And what is the most recent videogame event that has relevence to this forum? The gamespot best of 2008 awards.

lol I love SW. A year ago all the cows had their tin foil hats on accusing GS of all sorts of things, now they are defending GS while everyone else is infuriated by GS's bizarro decisions. :lol: I do have to say that up until recently I've always defended GS's integrity, but seriously what the hell are they doing over there while they are supposed to be working? :?

oh and uh, gears 2 didn't make a lot of people's list, thats just a fanboy favorite man. its an awesome game, but i beat in in like 7 hours or less and i hated the waiting for matches online
