atman: Arkham Asylum on the other hand does much to restore the faith. It is palpably and measurably better than the console versions and I haven't had to wait three to six months to play it. It generally looks better, has more in the way of bonus bling (depending on your hardware) and crucially, being able to run the game at 60FPS has a tangible, positive impact on the gameplay.

Controller lag is noticeable on the console versions, more so than on other Unreal Engine titles I've played. It's still there running at 60FPS on PC, but it is significantly reduced to the point where the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions feel rather sloth-like in comparison. More than that, the "FreeFlow" combat system greatly benefits, feeling far more responsive and enjoyable to use than on console. Put it this way: you wouldn't want to play Tekken or VF5 at 30FPS, and after enjoying Batman combat at 60 frames, it's very difficult to go back.

Whether it's down to the Unreal Engine underpinnings, or simply Rocksteady's efforts to get the most out of the platform, the bottom line is that the PC version makes a great game even better, and you don't need prohibitively expensive hardware to get a top-****experience. As a textbook example of a cross-platform project that exemplifies the PC's performance advantages, Batman: Arkham Asylum is absolutely superb.

I hated the demo, I love the full game, the demo HEAVILY fails to show off even a fraction of what makes the game good, not even a fraction.

Same here. I enjoyed the demo, but came away with the impression that the game was going to hold your hand every step of the way, making it a cake-walk. I can say that they full gamedid a good job of ramping up the challenges, while not making things impossible. The combat focused Challenge Rooms, for me, were actually very challenging (go figure, huh?) at first, but once a figured out a strategy (hint: do not button-mash) they were very beatable.

**waits for e-peen response from some posters of "This game was so easy. I beat it on Hard in 3 hours with my eyes closed."**

PC standards are higher.

That doesn't fly here, I tried to use that once when someone here was trying to compare a Wii and PS3 game.

I have a 2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo, a 9600 GT, and 2 gigs of RAM, and my PC ran Arkham Asylum with an equal or better framerate and MUCH higher texture resolutions than my Playstation 3. As far as control, I did feel like the PC version controlled better, even though I didn't think it would control well at all before I tried it. It was enjoyable on PC, whereas I didn't like it at all on PS3.

Do you have to pay to get achievements? Because I've got a few Games For Windows games that have never even hinted at the possibility of achievements.

So youre telling me, that you only enjoyed game X just because it had an insignificant boost in texture resolutions and rejected it WITHOUT these minor graphical improvements? Wow. Just wow.

if your laptop cant produce a decent framerate then how can you tell how much better it looks? maxing includes full physx and aa btw, would have to be one hell of a laptop to max the finished game

Played the demo on 360, and then got the demo for PC, and i went with the PC version cause i got a free copy of AA cause of a videocard deal going on. i turned on my 360 and turned the demo on, and it was laughable how much sweeter the PC version was. 1920x1080 with max AA/AF, and well much better controls IMO.

Actually, from what I have seen, the PC versions looks and runs quite a bit better. The PhysX are incredible.

Well, I personally considered getting it for the PS3 later down the road, and it was going to be a reason to buy a PS3, but now it's not a reason to buy one. I'll just buy it for my rig instead.

Still haven't bought this game yet.
Recently played Resident Evil 5 and Red Faction: Guerrilla on my PC and was floored at how piss-poor the console versions were by comparison.
For a very long time now, I've been using my PC solely for exclusives. I should consider changing that.
