Mixed reactions, but they don't seem happy with it.

Outside of all the E3 footage, no.I think this whole damage thing has been blown a little out of proportion. BTW, does anyone have any footage of FORZA's damage modeling, I have yet to see some.

yeah there alot of questions I had about the videos the other day. It just feels basic and something they really didn't put TOO much time in. I hope they figure something out quick, but the game looks gorgeous like always.
Well from that vid, it looks as if though there is much more detail in the deformation of the car, and thats jsut forza 2. GT5 did not have all of that, and the car did its fare share of grinding in the vids i saw. Overall, i feel as of though GT5 will be the better game, but Im sure forza will have better damage modelling. Here is one showing what Forza 2 can make the car look like, doesn't show everything buy good enough. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bfxmsuOVYL4&feature=related

Heres one thing i dont understand. Do forza and GT have a similar roster of cars. If so how is it that Turn 10 doesnt have probklems convincing car manufactures to let them deform their cars in games, yet that seems to be the number one excuse for PD not haveing Damage modeling.

GT5 is larger, which inturn I thing make GT5 a form of "advertising", they don't want people to see their cars in bad shape.

I think its more like PD not having the human resources to create the damage models being the bigger issue.
Doesn't make a difference to a true gamer, because a real pro doesn't damage his vehicle anyway. 360 fans are just too casual of gamers to understand that.

But whats the diff though, if they are willing to let them put damage in the forza game, i dont see why they should have an issue with GT. The way i see it, forza will most likely sell almost as many copies as gt5 will, if not more. If exposure is an issue, then it would make sense for them to prevent PD from putting Damage in the game if forza will have itDo you see what i am saying?

I doubt Forza will even TOUCH GT5 on a sales front. GT5 is just plain more popular, on the other hand poly may be lying and just doesn't want to release GT5 next gen.

It is, performance is affected by damage. As long as the cars' performance is hindered by crashes, I don't care.

I think this is it as well.1.For one Gran Turismo car models are generally more detailed (if slightly) than Forza models. They require a lot more dedication and man hours. To apply correct damage modeling takes and even more manpower/hours
2.There are 1000 cars in Gran Turismo5, versus 400 that of Forza3. Over twice as many. A lot more hours, do the math.
3. I have read (though I don't know how reliable the sources are) Turn10 has a LOT more employees than Polyphony does.
It's just too much work for PD. Turn10 has a much better development plan. A lot smarter too

Yea that is true, GT does have that brand recognition, so it probably would get more exposure.[QUOTE="PSdual_wielder"]

I don't think it is more detailed, I think they know how to do lighting better.
Yeah, some will praise anything Polyphony does, but they're so behind the times in many ways.

like putting in a hellava lot of cars for the game? sure some of them might be different skins for the same car (even though in prologue you can just select what color you want for the car before you buy it so i think thats just a weak sauce arguement anyways) and um... more cars onscreen at once?
but i ask you.... how are they behind now?
[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]They may be behind the times in gameplay features, but when it comes to presentation, style and design, Gran Turismo always comes out in front.Yeah, some will praise anything Polyphony does, but they're so behind the times in many ways.
Rikusaki
All of that is arguable in compairson to forza esp. with what you can do with the cars art work wise, the graphics are just as good now and that track with the hills are great.

Why do they have 40-50 different skylines? They have alot of cars that have slight changes... You don't need that. I agree with the more cars on screen.

Oh, I'm not taking about graphics. I'm talking about the menu design, GUI, music, opening cinematic, car/track selection screens, etc..[QUOTE="hyperboy152000"]

is it confirmed that they have that many of the same cars because in prologue, yes they had multiple models for the same manufacturer, but all the colors you picked out after you picked the car, you dont pick the car with the color you want, so i dont see why they would need 40/50 models of the same car just with different colors

I am sorry but this is getting sad, when you are saying this is all that GT has over forza(I am not even sure about that). You should say double the cars on track.

I mean not diff color, diff years, slightly different builds of skylines.

Nicely done. :)First were the... trees!! Omg the trees looks like PS2 , the trees are not trees like , oh these trees tragedy.
Now that all look , way better than any other racing game out there , is the damage!!! Oh the damage isnt that good , EVERYTHING ELSE is gorgeous , but since the dmg isnt good .... lets score it a 7 or maximum 8...
You know what this called people ? BS!! B - S!!!

I will tell you this:
I'm a hardcore GT fan.
I don't care about how "far behind" GT is from the rest of the pack.
I don't care about Forza having "better" Physics or if you can slap decal stickers on your car.
That's not why I prefer GT over Forza. Not because of the features it offers.
I prefer GT over Forza because of the things that set it apart from all other racers.
What other racing game has classy jazz music in all of the menus?
What other racing game puts more work into the opening cinematic than the sounds of the car engine?
My point is that I have fallen in love with what GT is now and I really hope it doesn't try too hard to become something it's not.
