Pardon my lack of linkage, as I am on a mobile phone at the moment. It would appear that Europe is going to join the party, soon.

ROFL! I forgot about that!
They are getting scared
Most console prices drop after a few years. Of course MS dropped theirs after a few months. You sure you want to bring up the word scared in relation to price drops?

I wouldn't say scare but everyone is looking out for number one after all.

@LJS9502_basic: Microsoft dropped price last holiday by $50, what is your point? That they were scared last holiday season? They sure were, did I say that this wasn't the case maybe? Are we drawing conclusions that are wrong again

I think you are drawing conclusions that are wrong again. Glad we agree on something.

Good one. Keep deflecting your ignorance

Yes MS was scared. They were losing to the PS4 worldwide and locally. Heading into the holiday at the same price point would have been a massacre. At $50 cheaper, they barely managed to outsell them during the holiday. They then went back to regular price and saw sales plummet even lower. They got scared of losing hard until the next holiday so they made the price cut permanent until now. That wasn't planned like the PS4 drop, that was done out of fear of going deep in the red.
So what exactly is Sony scared of? MS winning a month because of Halo? Not likely.
So everyone gets a $50 drop while here in Canada we got only 20$ off. bummer
What bummer? Canadian dollar is weak! Well, you must include exchange rate US $ to CAD $, then taxes and fees etc.
In USA regulary PS4 is 349 US $ = 450 CAD $
In Canada regulary PS4 is 429 CAD $ which is 329 US $. PS4 is cheaper in Canada.

Do tell me why they would be dropping their price? For the players? Don't make me laugh, Sony barely has anything except Playstation, so they are going to milk that cow as long as possible, such that they can become a viable company again. I'll explain to you how Sony made the decision to drop the price by $50, they just did a little bit of math.
They made two educated guesses on how well the PS4 would perform for a price of $400, and a price of $350. They multiplied those 2 numbers with the profit they gain by selling the console for those 2 price. Apparently they went with $350 because it would sell much more. Why does it sell more? Because more people will choose $350 PS4 over $350 Xbox One, than $400 PS4 over $350 Xbox One. If this wasn't the case they wouldn't lower the price of the console. Since Microsoft is their direct competitor, and families, gamers are choosing a console, Sony is scared Microsoft was going to do too good, and that they wouldn't gain as much profit with the $400 PS4, as they hoped, thus dropped the price to $350.

First, don't cut off my post and then put words in my mouth. I said "Yes MS was scared. They were losing to the PS4 worldwide and locally. Your response is terrible and you were only able to make it if you omitted my comment based on factual history. At no point did I say, nor imply that Sony is cutting the price because "for the gamers." That's PR bull crap.
The PS4 has been $50 more than the Xbox for almost a year and it still outsold it worldwide and locally. What you just said makes no sense. The market has proven that even at a lower price point, they see the PS4 being more valuable. How does that strike fear into Sony?
Second, Even Phil Spencer knew why they did it. It's been their product strategy and has been for ages. He literal said that. Then eventually he went on to admit that they're never catching up to the PS4. Why in the world would Sony be scared of a competitor who admitted defeat?
Third, they announced a new sku and reported that it is now cheaper to make. Now they can be even more competitive for the market without losing money. Investors love this.
Edited for grammar.
@Heil68: Where was this?
That's probably from Black Friday, I don't think that has anything to do with video games.
No I remember this. It was the PS4 release day. What I can't remember is which European country it was.

First. I cut off you post because it wasn't relevant... You are just pointing out facts, and I don't have a clue why. I already said Microsoft cut price to try to catch up last year, so why are you repeating me... Nowhere did I say you implied "#4thegamers", that's just a response that a lot of cows give, which I find laughable. So instead of reading too much into things, just try to read.
So you are telling me that Sony could've made more money if the PS4 was at $400, but were like: "Nah, let's just cut it by $50 because wtf not...". Oh yeah investors love that mentality. Sony has chosen $350 because it would mean more profit. Why? Read my second paragraph of the previous post. Dropping to $350 means that they can get a bigger piece of the pie. Why need a bigger piece, when they already have such a large piece? Because they fear that Microsoft might get such a large piece, that it will be easier for them (in the future) to eat away on the profits of Sony. Sony doesn't want that, and that's why they are scared, because they need that PS money to keep afloat.
@notorious1234na: I just figured since first person shooters are so big in Europe, figured they might be hungry for another.

I think PC is bigger in EU than consoles so most played FPS over there is prob Counter Strike or ARMA.
EU doesn't even like xBox stuff and had a preference for SONY since 2006 so I doubt EU gamers would give a shit bout Halo other than the same 2m+ ppl who buy every Halo title.

Deflecting? You're the one that deflected. YOU made the comment and then you tried to hide that you did. Pathetic.

Remember this? How was pointing out why Sony isn't scared irrelevant? The rest of your post is nonsense.
@Zero_epyon: LOL don't bother. He makes bull shit statements and then pretends the other person did. No integrity.

First of all, that wasn't saying Sony isn't scared, that was saying Microsoft was scared. You actually start by saying: "Yes MS was scared." Like I said, irrelevant, since I already said that.
Secondly, lol, sure nonsense. Just try go out with a little dignity next time, this is making you look like a child.
