Nobody really knew that the 2.40 update would brick PS3s.
Nobody knew that only one game out of 3 games that's available now was trophy compatible out of the 10 games Sony listed.
Nobody knew that the in game xmb lags slightly then the regular xmb.
Plus not everybody went in that thread.

Actually, everyone knew. I was screaming it the whole time that we were getting a bunch of features we can't even use.
People KNEW, they just didn't LISTEN.
Updates bricking PS3's isn't Sony's fault. That's big coming from me since I knock everything Sony does. Bricking is mostly user stupidity. Your PSP doesn't just brick on you unless A) You turn it off during an update or B) You are doing things you shouldn't.
Same for a PS3, be careful when you turn it off, and problem solved. Now if you have a freak accident like a power outtage during an update, than I just feel sorry for your bad luck.

Nobody really knew that the 2.40 update would brick PS3s. = FAIR ENOUGH!! sony needs to fix this!
Nobody knew that only one game out of 3 games that's available now was trophy compatible out of the 10 games Sony listed. = It was stated from first day only super stardust would support trophies so give it time

Can you give me a link for that statement, because I and many others probably overlooked that part, because we were too busy looking at the 10 confirmed games that's suppose to be trophy compatible. Also why list games thats out now but when the trophies are available, they're not available from day one.

I didn't know that bricks were part of 2.40, and that is the part that is most of concern to me.
Also, performance issues were not known, nor was the fact that so many games were not getting patched with any kind of urgency.

First people aren't even complaining about the slight lag the XMB has while IN A GAME (why keep bringing that up?), secondly should the misinformed be allowed to complain? It's not Sonys fault for some to have higher then promised expectations. Thirdly 2.40 bricking PS3s is definitely something no one expected, so I agree.

Super Stardust HD, a PLAYSTATION Network-exclusive released in June 2007, will be the first game to leverage Trophies and will offer a variety of trophies. Trophy support in Super Stardust HD will be available for first-time users who purchase the game soon after firmware v2.40 is released, while those who previously purchased and downloaded the title will be prompted to install a free patch.
PS3 users can expect to see additional games bringing Trophies support to their feature sets through 2008 and beyond, providing even greater opportunity to showcase their accomplishments and compete with friends. The following first-party games are also slated to offer Trophy support:

Sony openly stated that games that are already out will require patching to be compatible with trophies. So they can't be blamed if a bunch of ignorant casuals thought every single game would be ready to go instantly.

Seriously, I can't tell you how many times I've said this...everybody really expected Sony to urgently patch every single game 1 by 1? Are you serious? I said, and I quote "You are going to go home, DL the update, only to realize that you can't use any of the new features"
They all act like it's some kind of shock, and for once I find it odd that I'm actually defending Sony.

yeah which proves there are still decent people here!
I feel a bit sorry for the majority of the PS3 fans on this board. Most intelligent Sony fans knew the 2.40 firmare would add a few new welcome features and accepted it for what it was. The less intelligent bunch started spouting their mouths off how 2.40 will somehow leapfrog PSN ahead of Live almost overnight. Now, anyone with half a brain knew this isn't possible but the damage has been done. Yesterday people were claiming all sorts of rediculous stuff re. PSN is now better than Live, PSN has the same features etc. etc. Today? The best you'll hear is, "it does what they said it would do" Where's the OMG PSN >>>>> LIVE!!!!! people now. Hiding in shame I hope.
Let's just hope a few people have learnt their lesson, I'll spell it out for those that are still having trouble. PSN is NOT going to overtake Live, Live is not going to remain stationary while PSN releases a wealth of updates over the course of it's lifetime that trump all the work put into Live. Live has been constantly developing ever since it's inception, some of the features you might take for granted have had months and months of development and simpley comparing bullet points of the two services with little or no first hand experience is not valid.

Wow. It is sad that we live in a world where people promote and take pride in their ignorance, and when they are wrong they point fingers and blame somebody else.
In this case, a bunch of people didn't even bother to actually read or research what 2.4 actually did. They just heard "trophies" and then assumed their imagination was how reality would be. Then when their ignorance is exposed they lash out and blame Sony. Right...it's SOny's fault that people are ignorant.

Anybody who owns both, will agree on that. But nobody will learn their lesson. PS3 fans were saying Achievements were useless and a waste of time. Yet once trophies were announced, hold the phone...it's apparently Sony's innovative gift to gaming.
It works both ways though. To say I've never seen a stupid 360 ranter freaking out when the PS3 gets something good would be a lie.
