PS1 and PS2 had much more market share lead when the previous installations of Gran Turismo were out. Now PS3 is in 3rd with only half (or just less than) the user base of Xbox 360. Past sales will not be a factor here.

I Don't think GranTturismo has the Power of Final Fantasy Or metal gear solid but still many people will make the jump form ps2 to Ps3 just for that game it has a huuuuuge fanbase.

Meh that's nothing, with just over 10 million units sold, Halo 3 had sold over 1.5 million units before it was even released, I don't think any game will top that anytime soon. New GT titles didnt sell nearly as well either.

I might have miscalculated in my head, and recalling that PS3 was at around 9 MIL. Of course all these being estimated sales. Still the bottom line remains unaffected. PS3's smaller user base to its current gen competition, and to its predecessors, means we should NOT expect the same sales of GT5 to GT4 or GT3.

The only MGS game that sold amazingly well is MGS2... MGS, and MGS3 not so much. Not bad at all, but nothing compared to your other big sellers.

Ooh, good point, but flawed. GT is (pardon the pun) a cash cow for Sony and will be Sony's biggest seller since GTA has gone multiplat, but with the Playstation still in 3rd, I don't see GT selling more than 8 million unless they push 50 million PS3s.

We can all agree that the following franchises sell big, however: GTA, Halo, Brawl, GT, Sims, WoW, Madden and Mario. GTA is the top dog at the moment.

Even months or years after games are released they generate sales. The number of PS3 users is only increasing, and as they purchase the console they may well purchase the game too.
