The reason why I said playing Skyrim in consoles is fail is because of mods. The vanilla Elder Scrolls games are quite mediocre. They serve as a canvas for modders to paint on. I will never understand why those who played Oblivion on consoles consider it a masterpiece.

I usually play games when they are out as as they were supposed to, so i never understood the use of mods, maybe if there was juts one comng RPG and was the best of all, then would be a point in going back to fully replay a what could be a broken game by mods wih zero play testing

But i never saw that, usually i just move to the next amazing game that use mods to replay an old one, totally useless stuff for me

I too play the game without mods for the first time and so I did with Oblivion. Good game, nothing amazing though. Decided to come later with mods and it totally changed my experience. There were new lands, cities and buildings to explore, a lot of armors and weapons to collect, quests, potions, new dungeons, new monsters, new spells, races, classes and I could ride even a dragon. The graphics overhaul helped keeping the game fresh and finally removing those horrible faces. There were gameplay mechanism changes like new spells, bugs fixed and most important, the removal of that stupid scalable leveling of the enemies.

It became this vast world for me to explore in which I put so much more time than I did with vanilla or any other wrpg before. I am sure that if I reinstall the game now and look for new mods I will immerse into it again for many hours. So yeah that's why me and many others say that playing Elder scrolls games on consoles is a big fail. You say that you like to move on after you beat the game but what other open world wrpg was there at the moment?

All console games released, except exclusives, will be on PC - so clearly right there PC takes the cake.

apart from getting the best multiplats, there are some amazing exclusives coming out for Pc as well, including The Withcher 2 and Shogun 2.

if it wasn't for the exclusives, consoles would just be wannabe Pc's, except for the Wii, but really there's a lot of amazing stuff on Pc this year, it's not even funny.

personally I can't wait for Duke Numen Forever.. even if it's on console too who cares, they're just using the consoles to earn as much as possible, but this game MUST be played on Pc, just like Dragon Age 2.

Yup, PC is certanly lacking in games that have been released this year.

How does PC kill them? You've listed:

The Witcher, confirmed to also be on consoles.

Shogun, correct, PC exclusive, pretty sure console gamers don't care about RTS or they'd get a PC.

Duke Nukem Forever doesn't need to be played on a PC, it's not like it's a highly precise tactical shooter, it's a fun run 'n' gun that will be fine on consoles.

Dragon Age 2's lead plat is X360, it doesn't have tactical top-down view and it's designed to be more console friendly. No reason it "needs" to be played on PC. DAO is a different story.

So basically you listed one RTS exclusive that proves that PC is thriving and kills consoles this year.

On the PC, however, we are still working with the camera to keep the key elements of the tactical experience there. I was actually playtesting some new camera code when Victor found me, in fact, so I can give you the latest news on that front.

While we likely won't pull as far up as we did in DA:O, I have always felt that the key to tactical play was actually freeing your camera from the character you're controlling to issue precise orders, which is what we're tuning now. So, this means you can still maneuver the camera around the battlefield and issue orders from a remote location, just as you could in Origins.

So no tacical camera is only on consoles...again. Enjoy playing the inferior version on your Xbox.

The exclusivity of a game is a fact. Try to use the latter ones if you ever want to be taken seriously.

Finally, I hope you do understand that each console is a separate platform, right? It's not like the PC where everyone has access to the same games. You're trying (and failing, in my opinion) to make a point by comparing three platforms to one.

I already posted a list of 67 items not coming to the PC from the 360 alone and that list was NOT complete, if I had researched the PS3 exclusives, PSN, Wii exclusives, and Wiiware I guarantee that number would be pretty close to 90. The PC has more than 90 exclusive games coming btw, so that's not particularly relevant except to point out that by owning a PC and not a console you are missing out on massive amounts of content, just like not owning any successful system leads to missing on tons of content, and all four home systems have been successful this generation.

2. Wow, he didn't mean console exclusives in the PC\360, PC\Wii, PC\PS3 sense, which is the definition that usually offends people in System Wars because it treats the PC as a second class citizen. He's talking about games that are on consoles and NOT on PC, which is very on topic in a thread about how the PC lineup is godly compared to consoles' lineup, note the topic doesn't say why is everyone talking about PS3's lineup, it says "consoles' lineup" specifically using plural ownership. The TC's post doesn't shed any light either with statements like "did you forget that Pc kills them all this year?"Saying something is exclusively to consoles is 100% accurate if it is not on PC, and that is the kind of games he was talking about.

Incidentally, I think there is a place even for the other definition of console exclusives, but only in the limited event ofpeople directly comparing the libraries of two consoles, because there WILL be consumers who do not have both one of the two consoles under discussion and a PC.

I think the first two definitions of exclusive on google's define: function are very relevant:

1. Not divided or shared with others
2. Excluding much or all; especially all but a particular group or minority; "exclusive clubs"; "an exclusive restaurants and shops"

That second definition is a perfectly valid way to use the word exclusive, and no whining about System Wars and what we do here will change that.

Some of you people really need to expand your horizons if there are only 1-2 PC exclusives that interest you in 2011. Almost everyone here has a pc capable of playing Rome Total War. Play that and see if you aren't interested in Shogun 2.

Not to contest your peaceful post, but I continue the argument because I honestly believe that a game on PC is inherently better than console. Better graphics, better controls, faster loading, more options, moddability, and a larger more knowledgeable online community for 99% of ports make it hard for me to concede to the console arguments.

The elitism stems from having to prove a point that seems so obvious, over and over.

I'm surprised nobody lists the MMOs coming this year, SWTOR alone could be the "best game ever" if it delivers.

Guild Wars 2 (could be incredible blend of MMO and action gaming)

SWTOR (ME + KOTOR + WoW = drooling)

Planetside Next (400+ man battles!)

Those 3 titles alone blow away the console lineup, assuming they deliver.

The reason I never got a gaming pc is simply because no games on the PC interest me. And a gaming PC is just to expensive with upgrades etc. And I don't care about modding games. In all my years of gaming the games that would interest me on PC it also on consoles like COD , ME , l4d etc. I just had no interest in starcraft, WOW, or diablo 3. This year the star wars mmo is the only game that interest me on the PC. But I am not paying a hundreds or thousand bucks to to play it. Even though PC has better graphics than consoles I will stick will my 360 and ps3. Silent_Ninja87

lol nah, i game hardcore on my console. how is pc gaming any more "hardcore" than console gaming? they get a ton of the same games and i'd argue there are a lot more casual gamers on the pc with facebook games like farmville and all types of free puzzle games. my wife "games" on the pc all the time but she is in no way, shape or form a "hardcore" gamer.
