Other than N4S, I find arcade racers boring.Good, sim racers are boring.

[QUOTE="Motokid6"][QUOTE="Nuck81"] LOL. Thank you for this. Just PricelessNuck81Well.. I guess that's what I get for posting here in troll wars, eh?That's what you get for posting such obvious and fictitious damage control Actually Motokid is spot on. Physics wise Forza is a great simulator. The arcade aspects are the "3, 2 1, Go!", damage models and lack of true racing strategy...but when it comes to driving on a track it is superb. As for your comments about wheel support, I agree that the number of manufacturers that create wheels leaves something to be desired but the Fanatec wheels are top notch. I use mine on PS3, PC & Xbox. Anyway long story short Nuck is that you don't know what the hell you are talking about.
[QUOTE="MrYaotubo"][QUOTE="tagyhag"]Neither are Forza and GT so it shouldn't matter.razgriz_101Pretty much, there are no sims on consoles. curious have you actually played FM with the assists off and the simulation settings on the game becomes a whole different beast, and GT5's a good sim aswell. Such a misinformed soul that probably just plugged in,played and came to a quick conclusion without doing any small bits of legwork. I have. To compare it to games like rFactor2 and iRacing and say they're in the same league as Forza Motorsport is a HUGE slap to those games. Most people think that games like FM and GT are racing sims because they're used to playing games like Need for Speed (i.e. console-only gamers) FM and GT are a hybrid of arcade/Sim, they're not too simple but they're not too complex. And there's nothing wrong with that, but for someone to say that those games are as good as simulators can get, well they're wrong.

To beat this dead horse even further, I have a friend who owns a 350z that tuned to a point that it isn't far off from what you would find in Forza. Â He takes it out on track days every once in a while and he says that Forza (which he uses a wheel with) is as close to actual driving as he has found."in-deepth" race sims are only on PC.
If this plays similar to Test Drive Unlimited or NFS Shift, that would be pretty good.
I'm more interested in Project Cars though.

That's the car I usually start with too :) Before we had kids my wife had a 2006 350Z and I pushed it near the limit a few times. Never got a chance to track it though :(. Had to trade it in for something with a back seat. It's cool though because we have a 2011 Charger now.[QUOTE="HadOne2Many"]

"As he has found" That's the thing, what do people compare Forza to? Need for Speed or Grid or sh*t like that. Show your friend true simulators.Tagy just stop...like I said I have much more experience than your average sim racer and when it comes to the driving, Forza goes toe to toe with any PC sim (provided you have the right setup). It is the other areas that make them more sim (flags, damage, qualifying, etc.)HadOne2ManySo you agree that you have played the sims that I've mentioned and that Forza is literally as complex as them?
So it is a arcade game like Forza Motorsport.

Forza was never an arcade game. It has features that can be changed to make it play more like an arcade game. With all the "help" features turned off, is a pure simulation with damage, unlike GT5, which was a complete mess. 1/2 the cars were less detailed, the AI still rubberbanded and online was a joke for the first couple of months.

It still felt pretty "arcadey" even without all aids to me...
If anything, GT5 felt the most "simmy" without aids and actually required a wheel to play any good.

It's a simcade.Â
I understand why people think games like Forza are full on simulators because there's nothing else on the consoles like them.Â
But if you directly compare it to the other sims, it looks like a simpler game, that's what I'm debating.

No it doesn't. You can play Forza 4 with a wheel as well. You've never played Forza 4. I've played both of them. Both games have great physics, but Forza 4 have more features, online play and better A.I. Both games can play like a simulation. Forza 4 is obviously better.[QUOTE="blackace"]

Yeah, there are definitely better sim racers on PC, that's obvious. There's no debating that. There are better Sim off of PC as well.[QUOTE="nameless12345"][QUOTE="blackace"] Forza was never an arcade game. It has features that can be changed to make it play more like an arcade game. I played 2 & 3 so I think I have a clue about how it handles. ;)
The physics model is in-between realism and arcade, not full-on simulation like PC sims. (e.g. GTR series, GP Legends, iRacing, rFactor, NETKar, Live For Speed, ect.)

GTR requires a wheel to drive any good/competitive and has in-deepth telemetrics and costumization. (not just fancy "painting" like console racers)
Forza is perfectly playlable with a gamepad even without all aids.
