"Evolve" has over $136 worth of DLC. You buying?

This is freaking ridiculous. First they make us pay $60, then make us buy a season pass, (Which everybody does, sadly.), then charge us for all of this crap that could of been made as unlockables in the game? No sir. I don't like it.

I understand that game companies need to make a living. But this is just disgusting. Almost as bad as EA charging money for virtual gas.

Are any of you actually going to buy all this stuff?

I'd just buy the base game, which was pretty fun in it's Alpha+Beta. Shame they went with the shitty DLC strategy....

But they're still cutting content. Content that could of been in the game to "better the experience".

Sometime this fall there will be an Evolve complete edition for $20. I'll buy it then.

Good point. Still kinda cringe worthy that all of that "cosmetic" stuff has to be paid for instead of just being unlocked. How games of changed from the good old days.

there is already enough content to justify the $60 and they already said all the new maps will be free. The price of the dlc is crazy but it's not required so meh.

The core game is slim pickings. Look at HYRULE WARRIORS for example, the amount of content in the game is absolutely insane and then ON TOP of 200 hours of content you can purchase additional DLC. You see? The core game is already tons of value and now one is more likely to purchase DLC because of that.

I remember playing and finishing Left 4 Dead and I was like wow that was short. But even being that short I had so much fun playing, so much so I kept on playing again and again and even with friends that made it more fun so we continued playing and playing. Same thing with Left 4 Dead 2, the base game was solid that we didn't even need the DLC until months or years later when they were discounted. And guess what, this is the same for me with Evolve. There's so many in-game creatures that makes every play through different. Evolve is like a video game version of hide and seek. Hide and seek is fun in real life lol but it's so much better in a video game especially when you find the monster you can shoot harpoons and bullets and take that mother fucker down lol. The game has an 8 here and received positive reviews but I don't really need these reviews because I already know I could have fun with this game. My bro is game sharing with me so I get to play free but if I had to buy it, I would do what I normally do with every game so far and that's to find deals and ways to get this discounted. You have the choice, they're not making you buy anything "to make a better experience" or whatever.

You can spend $2 and customise your character. Or trick em out for more. In some ways its nice because you know that if you spend some cash you'll different. Personally I couldn't give a rats ass :P

Haven't played the game so I don't know, but usually with these sort of games you can also unlock stuff by playing too in conjunction with DLC.

Not buying it. Not sure what they were thinking by pulling 20% of the game out and then trrying to sell it for more then what the game costs itself. It's ridiculous. All the stuff they want you to purchase as DLC should already be in the game. I'll wait for a GOTY edition. If that never happens, I just won't buy it at all.

To be fair, a lot of it is just doing the same, repetitive shit over and over again. It's what Musou games are known for. Getting a lot of hours out of that is not hard.

For the same point, you can argue that a person will get 200 hours out of Evolve by just playing it.

Your better off waiting for GOTY edition, just like I did for Titanfall and it was worth it.

If the base game is worth 60$ of content then I don't see the problem spending a few extra here and there on stuff you'd want. No need to buy all the 136$ DLC content. lol

Not that I care about any of this DLC. I'm disgusted at the idea of all of this. Some of the best parts of games is unlocking stuff after beating missions, etc. Now they're cutting that content and making you pay REAL money for them. Again, not that I actually care enough to buy these costumes and stuff, but thought of this is just so...it's just so...Crappy.

Bought the base game & Season Pass (which really isn't a traditional "Season Pass") all for $59.99. Put around 27 hours into the game so far. So yeah, I'm enjoying it. I'm not a fan of micro transactions in any game that you pay money for up front. But most of the stuff so far is cosmetic, so I don't care. I also don't like the $15 future monster costs either. Too bad, because this is a fantastic game. Good Ol' game industry, you were so simple when I was a kid lol.

Also we all have a choice to make, it's part of being an Adult. No, I do not agree with how DLC, microtransactions, etc are used in games these days. But trust me, I weighed the pros, cons, and value of this game, and made my decision based from that. It's a fun game, it has value for me, and I wasn't going to let the experience pass me by.

The thing is this sort of stuff used to be unlocked through actually playing the game. Now it's a way to make more money. I won't support that practice. This is excessive and an abuse of DLC. It's greedy as hell. The game is already thin on content for $60 as it is.

And from what I understand, the extra maps will be free. They were sure not to isolate the player base in terms of multiplayer accessibility. So yeah, that paid content doesn't really impact gameplay, nor alters the power balance between players.

But yeah I can see where some people are coming from with regards to content that could be unlocked through gameplay.

They have no right to complain about anything Adobe, there's games out there that do the same business practice Evolve does (if not worse) but you hear nothing about them getting crap. In fact I guarantee you that the only people that are complaining are the people who don't even own or plan on owning the game.

If the DLC had maps then I'd say yeah they have the right to complain and be up in arms but they are releasing maps for FREE, so far skins (which can also be unlocked in game from what I've heard) and 1 monster are paid DLC.

Gamers are literally cry babies now and days, I truly think gamers spend more time complaining about games than actually playing them.

Game is so light on content at the moment. See, all comments like this:

Been not buying games that do this. Skipped company of heroes 2 due to segmentation and online requirements to get xp for your profile. Will skip this evolve as well.

Its like they made the game with a free2play model but decided to be greedy and charge people for the game as well. People will still buy it though and then it will encourage more publishers to follow suit.

They took the F2P model and put it on steroids.

I'm out until this holidays release of 'Evolve Game of the Year' edition for $20 which will include all the DLC.

My take on this is I don't have to buy it. If I do, I'm going to get a deal that suits me. If this game seems worth $60 to me, despite this greedy DLC scheme, I'd bite. As it stands after playing the Beta and L4D1/2 I just am indifferent.

Okay, this is just too dirty. The publishers are tagging nearly all negative reviews as "pre-release" (even ones not actually posted pre-release), while leaving 90% of the positive reviews actually posted pre-release (in Nov) alone.

I'm never buying DLC EVER!!!! If I buy the game....I want everything they ever created and thought of while the game was being made to be in the game that I buy for $60.

Not buying..dislike game littered with DLCs. Doubt I will be buying it ever, even when it becomes GOTY edition (with all DLCs included). At least they are upfront about it. :P
