I'm mainly a Hermit and agree with you, Halo 3 back inthe beta I though it looked like **** while nicely coloured it lacked graphical fidelity all-round, but since then my opinion has greatly changed.

It looks better than KZ2 & CoD4 & Bioshock imo , its probably techincally the least impressive however.

actualy i think its the opposite. (leave bioshock out of it because it already looks better than it) I think that KZ2 and COD4 have a more "realistic" look to them which makes the games "look" better to our eyes. but i believe that halo 3 is more technicaly advanced then the both of them. (much higher resolution textures, much more complicated lighting, Vegetation with physics and destructable, and anextremely detailed environment, AND a scale of 16km). i dont see how KZ2 even competes with linear gameplay. that game is all flash in little areas and no substance and still manages to pull piss poor textures and poly models. Although it DOES have better animations from what has been seen. I cannot comment on AI yet.

I dunno. I feel he is kinda right, but Crysis gets props all over the place yet it takes place mostly on a beautiful island, so it isn't exactly dark and muddy. Then again, Crysis is so far and above anything graphically right now that dogging how it looks is an act of insanity (of course, that hasn't stopped some people). And Crysis is also going for realism, unlike Halo 3.

So yeah, I guess he is right. I personally did think Halo 3 looked a bit better after he de-saturated it, heh. Oh well, maybe Crysis will help all that. I have always thought that Halo's art design and style was beautiful and eye-catching, though.

You cant say an unkind word about halo. It had the biggest entertainment release ever so that makes every aspect of the game flawless.

I dont think anyones saying Halo 3 beats every game in visuals, I believe its more about the fact that the visuals ARE actually on par with next gen standards and isnt just a "halo 2.5" in visuals. Halo 3 doesnt have to have amazing graphics but to say it doesnt look good is stupid.

You sit there and say Halo fans are convincing themselves otherwise and yet ignore the fact that the halo "haters" are bashing the visuals saying its not even worth being called Halo 3.

It's a shame Killzone can't do textures at all though isn't it.

Its a shame you think the textures wont improve. Hell look at this topic you can find people saying how they used to think it looked like crap in the beta and now looks alot better, killzone isnt even in alpha and it looks better, with a few bad low res textures here and there. When it comes out you wont be saying that.

Those desaturated pics make Halo 3 look comparable to Gears.

Don't get me wrong: I meant that you really couldn't compare them in the first place.

But with both of them on an even playing field, my eyes are sort of hovering towards Halo 3. No joke.

The problem is that people dont just critisize the game they completely attack it, I cant count how many time sI have heard Halo is the most overrated franchise and that it sixk completely. Critisize dont state stuff that is obviuosly crazy, is Halo the best ever, NO, is Halo a quality game, YES.

I can honestly say that I have never met anyone that thought Halo 2 was the bestlooking gameon the X Box. And btw, when you consider it's scale, Halo 3's graphics are actually pretty impressive.

No not really, sure there are people that say they don't like big games like Zelda or MGS, but do you see daily posts of "MGS is the most overrated game ever!" or "MGS is a horrible game and everyone who likes it is just fooling themselves!" No you don't, for some reason Halo inspires so much hate in people it's almost scary. I mean, when I post on here I almost feel like I'm part of a minority asa Halo fan, which makes no sense considering how popular the series is. And as for Halo 3's graphics, did you not read that blog? All the guy did is make Halo 3 less colorful, and look what happened.

No, the problem this blog is trying to bring to light is that people are now in the mindset that only a certain sty le of graphics = good. Visceral, monochromatic, OTT imagery. Halo is none of those.

I don't know if you read the blog, but in the course of writing, the author convinced himself, as he was a doubter too.

To be honest, I think the author is right.
