unfortunately gamers have very little say in this matter. I'm still hoping for a platform like the pc, but cheaper and completely made for gaming. Not going to happen though unless.

you misunderstood me. I love the exclusive game. I mean I love NG2. what I don't like is that it's accessibility is limited to one particular hardware configuration. i.e consoles. and yes competition is great. so isn't it better for them to be not exclusive. so games halo will not only compete against FPS on 360 but also FPS on other systems. really the best thing for gamers atm is the PC. many many games can be ported to that platform.

exclusives are the main insentive for buying a particular console... If every game was multiplat, every console would be the exact same thing, therefore, there would be no reason to have more than one console on the market. and system wars would cease to exist... due to system wars not being here anymore, everyone would commit suicide out of sheer boredom. then, their families and friends would commit suicide out of sadness for their loss. and eventually, everyone on earth is dead except for the few hermits on the earth (by hermits, i dont mean PC fanboys, i mean actual hermits who live alone, so they dont associate with anyone and wouldnt be saddened by the mass suicide)... but eventually, they die of old age, which leaves the earth to be ruled by dolphins...

all that because you want multiplats... i hope youre happy

no only nintendo ftw , they make profit day one remember that,

they opted for last gen visuals at least a lil like xbox, i like the xbox /gc and ps2 graphics they dont bother me , and yea for 360 and ps3 at least look what exclusivity has done,

more spacifically to free radical ,

haze any body , since it had very little audience,

no timesplitters 4 any one , we pay because of exclusivity,

lol, we cant ever see possibly the best fps this gen now , all were left with is a teaser ,

so ya its killing ps3 and 360 but wii is making a fine line in that department, ford racing off road is only 10 dollars but damn im amazed at what ive been playing so far, the wheel incorpoeration , handles smooth,

so those looking for a few racing titles to tied them over or just want a few wii games, look at walmart for ford racing off road,

an exclusive to ps2/wii

better then any ford racing put before,

but ya , exclusives on the ps3 is gonna hurt the worst lol ,

not to us but to those who make it,

Yeah but then whoever makes the console would never need to upgrade it much. Trust me, having 3 consoles is better, it means they must all spend millions advancing for next gen so they dont fall behind, which means better games.

This gen has almost no exclusives compared to the past. Almost every big name 3rd party game is multi-plat nowaways, and thats a good thing. Means I don't have to buy 3 consoles like I did last gen.

if there was no exclusives only one console would be worth buying. People will just go for the most advance console, would anyone seriously buy the wii if they knew mario galaxy and zelda was on 360/ps3, i would prefer superior hardware over the wii controller anyday. Nintedo sony and microsoft would lose alot of money if they said ok we will put all games on pc or one console.

Most game developers don't care what platform they develop on, all they care about is if it has a sufficient audience for their game. We are reaching a point were the cost to develop a game poses too much risk to limit it to one audience, hence the significant reduction in exclusive games. Next console gen when consoles take another hardware leap games will be considerably more expensive to make compared to today, even the incentives offered by console companies may not be enough to convince none 1st party developers to stay exclusive.

The console business model is due for a overhaul, exclusives won't be a sufficient sales point forever if things keep going the way they are, you may actually get the none exclusive markert you want one day.

Exclusive support from companies like Sony and Microsoft for companies like Guerilla Games and Epic is what allows for their exclusive games to be so good. If every game was multiplat or only one console existed, I can guarantee that such funding would not exist.

They require such funding because they are exclusive, if they were cross platform they could justify the bigger budget with the bigger audience available.

I don't think you understand. These companies get large, exclusive amounts of money to keep their games exclusive. When you force a company to develop a game under the assumption that it will sell better, because there is a bigger audience, you're asking a company to 1)Take a series risk and2)Ignore potentially tens of millions of dollars to assist with development, hire more workers, and expand the business.

Companies develop exclusively for certain platforms, because they actually make more money that way than if they develop for multiple platforms. Especially,if they have a significant financial backing from a large company like Microsoft or Sony.

You're dramatizing it to make it sound like exclusives are the better deal, when in fact as we have seen the majority of developers are turning their nose up at the incentives offered by console companies and go cross platform.

Most of your arguments are actually the opposite, there is allot more risk putting all your eggs in one basket than spreading them out, the potential returns from cross platform are far greater than exclusives today and are less risky.

From an economic point of view yes it is on some levels if you like efficiency however it does promote competition which i think is bigger and more realistic gain.

Great_Ragnarok

  1. Different games demand different control schemes and power that not all systems are capable of providing.
  2. The less exclusives there are, the less reasons consumers have for owning another system.

It's called a PC. multiple companies design every aspect of it.

really its the best place for game developers! where as MS,Sony and Nintendo are trying to gain a monopoly! which is bad for us.

yeah I'm saying why not develop for the PC? you can make just about any peripheral work with the PC!

some even have their wiimote working!

so having less to no consoles and all games going to an open platform like the PC, is the way forward imo.

that way the user can get the exact experience he/she wants.

Its a way backward as there will be less competition and thus the quality of our games will go way down. Having multiple platforms is the best thing that can happen in gaming.

Exclusives are awesome and help gaming, its what builds competition between Console manufacturers thus games in general get better and better as devs strive to outdo each other. Its ALL about the exclusives this gen and is whats driving sales for consoles, no exclusives mean no real competition which in turn means crappy games.

Gamers are like gamblers. They trust a console by either loyalty, probable exclusives or straight hardware facts. People support their console like their little brother or sister to convince themselves that their console will be the winner. Just like player stats or a teams win to lose ratio, exclusives are just supports to prove that they didn't waste their money on something that isn't the winner. In the end when the real winner is announced by either sales, or quality they flame the winner with "We'll win next year" 's and "Well we have teh most exclusives111!!1!!!". In the end you all just wasting your life. :(

I think no 3rd party should make exclusives, ever. The likes of Lost & Damned, MGS4, Okami and bla bla bla should pretty much be enjoyed by all of those who own current gen consoles. Of course if you own a Wii only good luck.

My point is that exclusives should be reserved to only 1st and 2nd party developers, you know.... the people who work for the console's manufacturer? Exclusives should never be made by 3rd party, that's what I think.

Someone said before: piracy

Good point because most PC games can be downloaded through bittorrent. Even though developers have techniques to prevent this, there are always loop holes that a good hacker can get through.

I love exclusives and I love competition between nintendo, ms, and sony. I think it really drives gaming to newer levels. If MS did not get into the gaming market then we probably would not have the wii. Nintendo probably would of just tried to make a better system with better graphics, BUT because gaming became a 3 way arms race, they decided to try a different approach to gaming and made a unique system with a new style of gaming.

I hope that there is never just one console and there is always competition.

Exclusives are what make each console unique without them there is pretty much no point in there being 3 consoles.

God forbid a console sells on its merits, price and reliability..
