[QUOTE="xOMGITSJASONx"]

[QUOTE="Stevo_the_gamer"]Outside of systemwars, I think exclusivity means little to nothing. Folks buy good games, they don't care what platform it's on. In the end, I think they just care about what costs more or what costs less.markinthedark

Fail. Before a casual person buys a system they buy the system for a certain game cause they believe it will be released on that system. For instance people bought a 360 knowing they could play halo 3 and people bought the ps3 knowing GT5 will come out. Casuals know the latter don't insult people please.

then why has the marketshare shifted so drastically?

shouldnt sony still have like 90% of the market because people would buy it based on the exclusives they loved on the ps2?

Actually the entire concept that individual games sell the majority of systems is BS to begin with.

I think people here overate the benefites of exclusive games. when in reality it's what system a game doesnt come out for that matters.

Say Fable 3 comes out on 360 and PC and not PS3. The fact that it doesnt come out on PS3 is a HUGE plus for pc and 360, even if it's not exclusive for 360 it's still a giant reason why someone would buy a 360 or pcover a ps3. Just because it's not exclusive doesnt mean it's not a big deal. It is. What people have to realize is what games DONT come out for what particular system is what matters. That in my opinion is a bigger deal than exclusivity.

Then that would make the Wii and PC the best systems because they have the most games not on other systems.

Why is it a HUGE plus? It's only one game. It's not a giant reason someone would buy PC/360. I've never heard of a person who knows nothing about gaming that buys a $300 plus system for one game. These people don't exsist. And if they do they're not even thousands of them.

Yeah, because the first thing I think of when I look at both my 360 and PS3 next to one another is, "I can't wait for the next multiplat to justify purchasing BOTH consoles!!!1!!! :D "

So a game is more valuable if it's not on a particular system than if it's not on any other system? Interesting. And, I would argue that Fable III not being on PS3 is not a huge loss at all. :P

I only have the 360, I don't care about exclusives because like in the SNES/Genesis days I have family and friends with the other consoles and will watch/play the exclusive games with them.

Since this gen is losing more and more exclusvies, I debate which is more relevant, Exclusives or multiplatform.

If you get better looking Exclusives, but worse looking multiplats, how big of a deal or selling point is having better looking exclusives or even better exclsuvies for said consolewhen multiplatform makes up 80 percent or more of our gaming these days. You get 5 games that look fantastic because they are exclusive, but you get 25 or more games that dont look great because they are multiplatform and since your said console struggles with that, more then likely they will look and or performa bit worse then the other console.

Of course, you can make the argument that since most things are multiplatform anyway, that having a great andbetter Exclusive librarey is all the more important since you are getting the multiplatforms anyway, and your console might look more appealing since you get the games that the other console is getting adn you get a better overal exclsuvie librarey.

Which argument is mroe valid is up to you.
