When I saw Milo I saw Seaman HD. Then I was puzzled of how people were hyping it as one of the biggest advancements of electronic entrainment of all time, let alone of computer science. I still have a hard time believing that some people though that Milo was anything more than a high budget chat bot....
[QUOTE="GreyFoXX4"] nope. the wii remote can do more than tilt [QUOTE="GreyFoXX4"] but ps3 wand with ps3 camera adds alot more functions and features. hy4knope wii motion + is just as accurate as the ps3 wand. only functionality added by the camera is the ability to recognise your body
Show me a wii game that you can move around in real time in a 3d enviroment or have the percision like the ps3 wand. GreyFoXX4there you go. 1:1 motion controls availible on your wii now. All from an early demo of wii sports resort there are plenty of wii games with pointner controls. there are plenty of wii games which let you move about in a 3d environment.you should already know this So the wii can recognise how far you are from the rf sensor, so infact you can move away from it and your character moves away and so on? So another words it recoginses depth and distance? And you know the ds3 does more than tilt right? It has full movement left, right, forward, backwards and upside down right?
[QUOTE="Baranga"][QUOTE="GreyFoXX4"] They said just like everyone else, its voice tone. So yes voice tone is different than actually understanding your words. So unless you were one of 1/1000 that actually thought milo was using voice tone and not actually understanding the ladies voice then I guess you knew it was false advertising the begin with lol. But gametrailer did have some rude things to say about milo so they were not happy at all with it. And they felt mislead.GreyFoXX4
You continue to disregard that Molyneux said he can recognize about 500 words as of now.
The clamour to call Milo a fake when no-one ever claimed he was real - Molyneux himself admitting to "tricks" - proves just how hair-raising, how unsettling Microsoft and Lionhead's achievement is.
Peter said in the e3 demo that it works and it works today, now actually. And milo understood word for word at the beginning of that demo. So yes it portrayed that milo could understand her exactly, but milo does not. And the picture she drew is already being done in the eyepet game, but yet everyone was so wowed over that part of the demo.. I think yall are damage controlling that it actually does not owork the way that the staged demo portrayed. I'm done with this topic, lemmings came away from E3 boasting about natal instead of games and natal is being shot down left and right as just being staged and does not work as advertised in the e3 conference end of story. But yea as a UI I think natal will be awesome, but not so much in games. He never said he created an AI that was self aware and could grasp the meaning of the words. It was clear it was voice recognition that can respond to a few words and yes those few words where in the demo, what do you think they are going to use words not yet programed that Milo can't understand? He also stated they only worked on the project for a few months. Did you think you could be a real God in Black&White too?

And the sixaxis has nothing on the vanilla mote, let alone WM+.

milo = those robotic voices you get when you call the cinema when requesting film times.
people want to play a game not talk to it
milo was shown just for the wow factor, i admit that it did impress me but i wont go near that game
talking to any thing virtual is just wierd

Well I guess to watch MS conferences I need my lesson in reading between the lines course 101. And to remember to take what they say with a grain of salt.P.S. Fixing to call my bud that was so happy about milo and ask him if he thought it was really understanding that lady or not. Or if he thought it was just voice tone recognition. I'll post back later with the out come.

No lems were boasting over as it was a real skynet. I read some metions about interactions with NPS in a rpg, not real self awere AI. It's not staged it was a work in progess, hello.

You're right, he didn't mean Skynet or Hal in a few months, what he meant is that we've surpassed ANYTHING written in science fiction RIGHT NOW and that it is tangible, in our hands, being demonstrated, in REAL time. Not a few months, NOW. Not Hal, BEYOND HAL. BEYOND SKYNET. Listen to what the man says. What he said is worse than your characterization....it's that bad. Milo: [Giggles]
Eurogamer: Bloody hell.
Peter Molyneux: Now, he didn't really understand every word you said, but from the tone of your voice he guessed you were telling a joke.
Best line from peter the whole interview.
Seriously Milo guessed, how many people believe that
The hypocrisy on these boards are ridiculous. If Sony or Nintendo had something similar up and it got exposed they would be ripped to shreds. Especially Sony. But since it's MS it's okay because Natal is still in the early stages,Milo has no effects on gaming,etc...

"Common sense would tell you Milo isn't alive," whereas Peter Molyneux would tell you absolutely anything to get his hype train rolling, up to and probably including that Milo is, in fact, a real human being living in your television set. The point isn't what the facts are, the point is that Molyneux said the opposite. So why is Milo getting talked about so much again?Dr_SnoodWhen Peter Molyneux speaks. People listen. Then they find out the truth behind his BS.
Kotaku posted a simliar article and they were actually allowed to monitor the screens that the devs were using and confirmed that very little 'string pulling' was being done - it was more observational, they were monitoring databases to try to correct errors in real-time if they happened - stuff like this is common with tech-demo.
what really matters is how it turns out, not how it was done - it is proof of concept, not a product.

you know what - if you actually pay attention to him when he speaks you'd know that he's not overhyping the product, but speaking about concept.
he usually qualifies things like 'we're working on' or 'were playing around with', and then fans get upset when it doesn't work out. he speaks openly about what he's trying to achieve and what he's playing around with. i admire him for it even if it does get him in to a PR mess from time to time - but that's largely due to unrealistic expectations of fans, and people not paying attention to what he's saying.
people that criticize them do so unjustly i think. let him speak, at least it gets people thinking. he's also responsible for some of the best gaming there was to have on PC for quite a few years - so for that i give him quite a bit of credit.
i think it all boils down to fanboys not reading what he actually says, or just taking soundbites out of context to try to harpoon him.
Peters notorious for over exaggerating anything he is working on. And Spong also reported that Natal is not all its cracked up to be. That whole demo was just another fake trailer.

QUOTE: "Science fiction writers, filmmakers, they haven't imagined what we're able to do today."
"This is true technology that science fiction has not even written about. And this works....today....now."
Then he tells us that it was not acted.
These are not unrealistic expectations set up by fans, first of all. The first two quotations are direct quotations from Molyneux. I've yet to see a fan say anything like that regarding the Milo and Kate project, and probably never will (keep in mind, it's not really a product yet, even the technology itself is referred to as "project natal").
As far as "not paying attention" to what Molyneux's saying....I seriously resent that considering I just watched the video a second time just to pull these direct quotes and listened intently to every word that Molyneux said. I'd be willing to bet that you haven't watched the video once with that kind of seriousness, so who are you to act the expert?
Additionally, I'm not even remotely convinced that this video was not acted, I'm willing to bet outright that was a complete lie.
