who's going to win the best racing game this year?

I'm getting both. I would hope that F1 2010 would nail the open wheel/ F1 racing much better. But GT5 will probably be overall the much more complete game across all the different styles of racing. GT5 looks to have spectacular graphics. F1 runs on Dirt 2 engine which was also great visually, but I think GT5 will have it beat easily.2ChalupasWhile GT5's career will be more varied, I highly doubt it will be as in-depth as a specialized racer. As for the visuals, F1 has what looks like comparable (if not better) lighting, superior track detail, the best wet weather effects in any game, and most importantly, da foliage. Not to say that it'll be the better looking game (let's wait until release to make such claims), but by no means will GT5 "have it beat easily."
p.s. I'll see what I can do about getting both as well.

Yeah, but probably every clip of F1 2010 is using a Directx11 PC version at max settings. GT5 Prologue looked better than console versions of Dirt 2, I was referring to the console version. So I would assume that the final version of GT5 will look better than F1 2010 on consoles.
At max settings the PC versions surely will be even better looking just out of haivng higher resolution and the fact high end users can get it to run way higher than 60 FPS with all the effects turned on. But both look spectacular so far regardless. The rain/spray effect shown in F1 do look incredible.

Regardless of the version, you still have the lighting, damage, weather effects, da foliage, and the ability to total your car in a variety of ways. I still think it's gonna be a close call.sorry I'll wait for another rally game by codemasters there F1 games don't impress me. GT5 will be a killer this year
GT5 for me. But I will get F1 2010 if its good which going by the developers history I think it will be.
I'll probably be getting both, but I've heard some great stuff about F1's career mode. Much more in-depth than just choosing a bunch of races. Unless PD really stepped up their game with GT5's career mode, I'll prob have much more fun playing F1 2010.
Probably both for me. I highly doubt however that any racing game is going to offer more then GT5 will.
Gran Turismo 5 will win. I would list all the reasons why BUT i don't feel like typing for an hour.who's going to win the best racing game this year?
oajlu
NFS Hot Pursuit.:P
Honestly I'll go with GT5. I've waited quite awhile for that game to come out so yeah can't wait for that. F1 however does look amazing.

Actually all the video footage released to date has been captured from Xbox 360 :) Here are a few answers to some other questions from the thread 1 - F1 2010 will have all the cars, tracks, drivers, teams from the 2010 F1 season 2 - The career mode in F1 2010 will be the most in-depth of any next-gen F1 game, with the ability to speak to the media, have proper driver rivalries, upgrade your car and team throughout the seasons etc. 3 - F1 2010 is out Sept 24thF1 2010 easily, GT5 might end up being a better final product, or a better car game, but TC asked which will be a better racing game and this element never was particularly impressive in GT
They never were...last gen they made awesome racers (TOCA and Colin series) but their games still were not on GT4,FM or PGR2 level. This gen they totally failed...GRID/DIRT1/2 are really crap cmpared to their previous game. I hope F1 2010 will be close to Toca than Grid in terms of handling/physics. GT5 will smash it anyway ;)Well considering Codemasters are the best racing game dev, F1 2010 by far.

If they put in freaking Windows Live in F1 2010, I won't pick it up. That's what killed Dirt 2 for me (I own the Codemaster's Racing Pack). I'll just take my GT5.zero_snake99
Ugh, I forgot about the GFWL crap. One day, I started up DiRT 2 to continue my 75% complete save, only to see that somehow the save became corrupt and that I had to start all over again. Wouldn't have been a problem if I could've had multiple saves or backed it up. GFWL would be a huge turnoff for me if it were to be included in F1 2010.
Still, I'll have to take it over GT5 since I don't own a PS3. Rest assured, if I did have a PS3 I'd probably get it on launch.

I already have Dirt 2 on steam... so you'd think thats good enough for DRM, right? Wrong. WL ruins gaming. I not only do I have to sign in to Steam, but I had to create a Windows Live account TO EVEN SAVE!!! I hate microsoft. It's BS because MS doesn't even support PC gaming anymore...Please Log In to post.
