Seriously, this game is looking so bloody awesome. What is there not to love?

Few features.

World

-There is a small campsite in the middle of a large forest called Brightwood.
-Bowerstone returns for Fable 2.
-Bowerstone has different districts, such as the slums district and the rich district, as well as a merchant street.
-Each tree, as well as the tree's branches and leaves, are animated individually according to their own unique physics.
-Albion is 10 times larger than in the first Fable.
-Each tree in Fable 2 has roughly 120,000 leaves each.
-There are around 15 million poppies in Albion.

Features

-A second player can come in and out of the game at any time as a guest. This player keeps all gold and experience they earn and takes it with them back to their own game world.
The host can determine what share the guest gets of the gold and experience gamed when the guest is in their world.
-Guest players will get an hourly rate of pay for helping the host out.
-Guest players can kill the host player's family.
-NPC's will be able to recognize and respond to any guest playing with the main player. For example, if you have an evil guest with you and you're a good character, people will react accordingly.
-If you go into another persons game as a guest the look of the character will be based off of your character's look. If you don't have a character of your own you'll have a generic pre-determined look to your hero.
-The host can give the guest items to take back with them to their own game.
-Demon Doors are returning for Fable 2 and are still only opened by meeting certain requirements or performing certain actions. Some can only be opened in co-op.
-The game world will alter according to your interactions with it. If you trade with a small camp you may find that it's given the camp the push it needs to turn into a small settlement in the next 10 years.
-Good and evil are being tracked as well as rich and poor, and both can affect your physical appearance and how the world reacts around you.
-Morphing is going to have a large part in Fable 2, with the different morphs relying on , , corruption, purity, strength, will, and more.
-Experience is affected everytime the player passes out or collapses during a fight.
-Because so many people played as good characters in the first game it's going to be more difficult to be good in Fable 2.
-A dog is going to be the main characters main companion in the game from near the beginning on forward.
-You can use expressions towards the dog to help train it.
-The expression system is back for the main character, including some expressions such as "flirt" and "pose", among others.
-You will have no direct control over the dog.
-You can play with your dog, such as throwing it a ball to play fetch.
-Your dog works with with you to alert you of danger, hidden areas, and assists you in combat.
-Your dog will morph according to your actions as a player. If you're a good character your dog will look pleasant. If you're an evil character your dog will appear scary.
-If you go into a fight with your sword drawn your dog will attack the gun-wielding enemies first and vice versa.
-You can feed your dog but you're not responsible for feeding him.
-If you overfeed your dog it can become fat.
-The lower your health is the closer the dog will stay to you rather than venturing off further down the path.
-A gambling mini-game called KeyStone (a cross between roulette and craps) will be released before the release of Fable 2 on Xbox Live. Any money won in the game can then be imported into Fable 2. This game will cost points to download in advance but will be included for free in Fable 2.
-You'll get more experience for a good "****" of fighting and less experience for "button mashing".
-Instead of picking up gold from enemies you'll have to rely on getting gold from gambling or various jobs offered around the world. You will also get no gold for completing quests.
-Jobs you can have include blacksmith, farmer, assasin, and henchmen.
-The more you work at a job the more your skill in that job will increase.
-Village shops will offer you free items as thanks if you happen to have saved that village from a particular evil.
-When you marry somebody you become a part of that community.
-You can have a dowry during marriage.
-Due to marriage you can have a father-in-law.
-Instead of mini-maps there will be a new breadcrumb trail.
-If your spouse is killed your son or daughter will have to go to an orphanage.
-You can purchase and own any building in the game, ranging from dungeons, houses, inns, to castles.
-Most buildings or structures you can buy have specific quests associated with them.
-You can play as a male or female.
-You can get married and have children.
-Just as in the first game same-sex marriage is possible.
-The appearance of your children will be determined by the appearance of your spouse as well as that of yourself.
-If you leave home for too long your family will react accordingly upon your return, either by being very happy you're back or by being upset that you've been gone for so long.
-If you're evil your child will exhibit evil characteristics. If you're good your child will exhibit good characteristics.
-As the breadwinner of your family you will be responsible for your families survival by making sure they have enough money to eat, etc.
-You can have protected or unprotected sex.
-If you play as a female character you can become pregnant.
-Combat will be used via a one-button system. There will be one button for your sword, one for gun, and another for magic. This kind of combat is based off of timing and positioning of the character.
-Combat will be position oriented; your character will interact with the environment around him to help him fight.
-You can pick up and throw bottles at enemies.
-Your combat ****will change according to the kind of weapon you're using.
-The player will unlock more skills and combos with particular weapons as they become better at fighting.
-Aside from swords and magic the player can use guns.
-The player can use a more accurate aim with a crosshair during gameplay.
-Hobbes will be making a return for Fable 2.
-While Peter says you can complete the main story in 12 hours if you rush through it it would much longer to do everything in the game.

The awesome? Xbox 360 GotY, tbh.

EDIT: Looked up a Saolin thread with better information, so I stole it.

Im with u all the way on this thrones.

Im not too big on jrpgs but have an interest in the western variety. The idea of raising a family with kids and a dog simply intrigues me......mostly because no other game remotely is attempting this.

The idea of buying houses, working for pay and the adventure in general is relaly pulling me in. I cant wait for this.

I just love how 360 is dominating in both rpg categories this gen!

Fable 1 was solid and enjoyable, although very short for an RPG. That said, I am looking forward to Fable 2, but based on Lionhead's track record, I prefer to wait for the game to release before being hyped.

I love many of their games, but they consistently over promise, so I will keep hype for me low, as I prefer to be surprised by a game as opposed to be disappointed due to promises.

There is still an annoucement for the last main feature which has to do with Online. Its most likely just co-op online but it could be more.

This game will take leaf counting to the next generation. I can't wait to spend countless hours counting leaves and flowers, but I think the inability to count individual blades of grass and pebbles really prevents Fable 2 from reaching AAA status.

Dude, this game doesn't just have over 9,000 leaves. That was the beta build.

It has millions of individual leaves now:

Fable 2 is easily one of my most anticipated games this year. But the main question I have does not seem to be answered.

Are we getting a seamless Oblivion/Morrowind-esque game world? Or a world like Fable 1 that is divided into zones...

I seriously hope its the former...

Though I can't link you (totally forgot) I was watching an interview with Peter Molyneux, he said the world is split into 20 large zones which you travel between.

I see the light beams are still looking as awesome as usual.

This is one WRPG-sty1e game (have yet to see if it's an RPG or an action adventure like the first) that I'm really not hyped for. I didn't care for the first and the minor improvements and artsty1e aren't enough to make me interested.

5 gens better than everything else, and 2x better graphics than Crysis 4 on an Intel Googolplex core on a 2.4x10^354GHz CPU. Molyneux can just optimise so well unlike certain developers. *Cough* Crytek *Cough*

Each of those areas are very large. The world is 20->30x bigger than Fable 1. It's not a path, just a large area. They can't have a full open world you know, the X360 hardware can only take to much! Molyneux mentioned that cacheing to the HDD was impossible so this was the workaround.

How is it impossible? Because HDD's aren't standard? Come on Peter, anybody with half a brain knows that 95% of 360 owners have at least a 20gb HDD. The sales you would lose by mandating an HDD would be only those people too poor to afford a 360 in the first place, never mind games for it. Those are the people who buy the arcade and don't put a HDD on it...

There's likely alot of Arcades being sold, if the Arcade is still available as an SKU, TBH.

Its not the arcade SKU that's the problem. Its the fact that these developers think people actually don't buy HDD's for their Arcade/Core SKU's.

So true, I haven't a clue why MS insist upon making the devs do without the HDD only to cater to lowest common denominator when the majority who have HDD's could have benefited greatly.

Well, Banjo is not one of my most wanted, but it is on the side wanted list of games to definitely check out. There are just so many games coming out this year that I am wanting, man....for both the 360 and PS3. But, as far as exclusives go, the 360 really has it nailed down for me.

The world is 20-30 times bigger than Fable 1, and is 100% seamless, that is you can go verywhere it seems visitable, you can jump over all fences, short obstacles and even from bridges to water under

Cities also evolve and change depending on how you play, there are many rpeviews describing this from MS day

*shrug* I got it from an interview. I'll try and find some scans or link tomorrow.

I wish I could believe the parts about an outpost developing into a town or village. Sadly if they do this it will just be one quest and not controlable by you. The biggest problem I had with Fable was the fact that when you were making a desicion that would affect the game it was painfully obvous, the game had no subtelty.

the hype became low when saolin was bannedjaisimar_chelse

The hype went back up to where it was before saolin323 was banned, at least for me. Used to see nothing but Fable 2 threads so I just tuned out entirely.

GAMESPOT PREVIEW

http://uk.gamespot.com/xbox360/rpg/fable2/news.html?sid=6190908

Interesting bits

We're given a couple of examples of the effect a player can have on the world. In one instance, a town's law enforcer pleads your character to deliver ten warrants so that a band of criminals could be stopped. The choice may seem trivial in any other role-playing game. In a typical RPG, ignore the request, and you don't receive a particular reward. You move on, and the world goes on as if you never made that decision to begin with.In Fable 2, ignoring the request will slowly change the town. Crime will increase, and the town itself will begin to transform into a crime-ridden cesspool (in which you can then become an assassin). Alternatively, deliver the warrants, and watch as the town prospers without crime.

Another wild example of this effect on the living world had to do with a roaming gypsy camp. As the character wandered around in the wilderness, he discovered a very active gypsy camp that really seemed to be independently alive - children were playing games with one another (and if you watch closely, they will be acting out the story from Fable - and your Fable 2 story eventually), adults were doing random activities, living life. And then there was you. Molyneux did not show us this on screen, but he describedhow you can settle down with this gypsy camp, taking a gypsy to marry you, procreate, and move around with the camp, living a life as a gypsy. Or you can wipe all the adults out like a maniac, and go to the orphanage to see all the children suffering.

Now, not everything can be affected by your actions - there must be some limitations. After all, Molyneux does have a convincing and compelling storyline for you. But there seems to be enough in the game to really translate a new idea of in-game freedom here. And on the topic of freedom, somehow we were really excited about this: every building you see, you can enter, and buy, if you have the gold. Oh, and most regions have under-regions. This world is huge.

For instance, specialising in sword combat over time, allows players to hold the button for a flurry of sword swings, whilst later (more powerful) moves will be unlocked with a series of button taps set to a rhythm. The same goes for the gun and magic buttons too, with the latter providing eight unique spells that are eventually unlocked to be cast at range or surround the hero. Combat also becomes something of a self-fulfilling prophecy, with players getting rewarded for being more imaginative in battle. As Molyneux himself put it, "The cooler you are with combat, the greater the XP!"

The "voyage of discovery" won't rest with the story of the hero however; the soundbite also describes another key element of Fable 2, in that it's 100% free-roaming. The notion of being able to jump over any wall, go inside any house, go down any cellar, or just explore the world, obliterates one of the definite disappointments of the first title, even if the feature throws up quite an obstacle for Molyneux and his team: in a 100% free-roaming world, how do you navigate without the obligatory on-screen mini-map???

The game's new interactive cut-scene system seems like a better addition, as it gives you the freedom to react to in-game cinemas by blurting out responses and performing actions. So, for example, if you decide to pass gas during a tense, dramatic scene...expect the other characters to react appropriately.

At this point in the demo, Molyneux realized his time was almost up and launched into a frenzied runthrough of the game's impressive non-player character A.I. simulation (townsfolk carry on their normal lives, such as a group of kids who play-act the entire events of the first Fable over the course of the game), the reworked battle system (its "one-button combat" is actually much deeper thanks to customizable moves, combos, and spells), and your faithful canine companion (he'll help you out a bit with combat, but overall, he's just there for moral support and friendship).

The scale of Fable 2's world is huge compared to the first game. We're sick of mentioning it, but the first thing that came to mind was the jump to GTA IV's Liberty City...
Every region that we've got has got this idea of having this flow-through, which is that breadcrumb trail that you saw, the story that's there. And I love that feeling, as an RPG gamer, that I can find that little secret that no one else has found. To do that, we've had to plan it really, really carefully. The first thing we did is we built the whole world on paper, because there's so much interaction going on there. We had to have this piece of technology which is called layers - every region's got hundreds of different layers in them.

That slums region that we went into... you do exactly what the guard wants, then one whole layer will be turned on, which will lead to a whole stream of stuff going on, like the region getting prosperous, and it'll unlock a whole load of different quests. And then the other layer is the evil side and it'll be more evil and unlock an assassination job. All of this had to be so carefully planned out. We really wanted to nail the idea that for every choice there is a consequence, that you could do something small at the start of the game that would make a big difference. So that small thing at the start of the game leads you to have the ability to become an assassin within the world, and you can go around and take an assassination job and be paid as an assassin.

It seems there's a lot more sandbox gameplay in comparison to Fable...

Molyneux: There's a hell of a lot more sandbox and a hell of a lot more story. In Fable we didn't really spend enough time on the story. Every single building you saw in that demo, even the dungeon, is buyable. But that's completely useless without a really amazing story.

The co-op play was particularly exciting to see in action. Like Gears of War, a buddy can drop in and drop out at any point in the game. Though Molyneux didn't get into the Xbox Live feature specifics, he did tell us to expect a "big co-op surprise" to be announced forthcoming

http://www.joystiq.com/tag/fable/

Mini-map has been replaced with a "bread crumb trail;" a dynamic golden line on the ground that directs you to a destination (read: medieval GPS)
Magic system is divided into focused, single-foe attacks and ranged attacks; attacks can be built up into five levels using various spell combinations

Speaking of spells, there'll be just eight (but remember, they can be combined)
Every house in the game is up for sale; each house will unlock a sidequest, item or skill
Rough estimation: 20-30 times larger than the first Fable [Microsoft says: "a world 10 times the size of the iconic Xbox game"]
The gameworld features seasons and dynamic weather

Cutscenes are interactive; the d-pad can be used to issue certain gestures that will steer conversations
Sex minigame was canned; instead, screen goes dark and moaning ensues (sex can still be unprotected though! Babies, yes; STDs, unconfirmed)
Female character was almost canned; almost.
And finally: Three more Fable sequels are being planned. (Lionhead is currently wrapping up Fable 2 and focusing on an announced project.)

This will defininitly be 360 GOTY! It's about time someone started innovating in the RPG genre.

This is a day 1 must buy for me, I might even pre-order it!
