Fable 2 is an enormous load of poorly designed garbage.
Its world is tiny, maddeningly restrictive, and boring, its story is flat-out idiotic bull ****, to a degree rarely seen even in this industry, its core mechanics are horrible, its character building sucks ass, and allows you to be a jack of all trades (which doesn't really matter I suppose, when your entire goddamn skillset only relates to combat), the game doesn't really have multiple ways to play through it, aside from a few branching quests and the ending, which takes the whole ME philosophy of "implied decisions are bad" to another level altogether, "teh hughe decisions!!1!" are few, far between, and poorly implemented, the quest design is godawful, and, to top it all off, it's loaded with technical problems, from pop-up and bad animations, to glitches out the ass.
Fable 2 fails miserably, not only as an RPG, but as a game, in general, and you calling it "the best RPG ever" would be ****ing hilarious if it were not so sadly indicative of the state of the genre.
This.. Add to the fact that it's extremely easy casual experience, you cannot die whatsoever. The only real choices you make are right at the end of the game weather your bad or good. Everything outside the main storyline is just one big sidequest mini game that has zero effect on the main story. It's just the sims outside the main story. The storyline is laughabley poor, specially the ending. Not to mention the annoyance like the bugs an playing as a good character will have you stalked the rest of the game by basically everyone in the town. Fable 2 is a pretty sucky RPG experience. JRPGs are better than this crap.[QUOTE="jethrovegas"]Maybe I'll wait for a major pricedrop.Fable 2 is an enormous load of poorly designed garbage.

Is there really that much of a difference other than one is from Japan and the other is from America? I know old Japs tend to be more turn-based and western more action orientated but if they are so different judging at your comparison of shooters to racing games then why are both genres ending with RPG?

The game's open-endness far surpasses other RPG games like GTA4 or MGS4.Olimar_the_Minumm judging from that sentence, you don't even know what an rpg. and this year, Fallout 3 was a FAR FAR better rpg.

KOTOR
KOTOR II
Morrowind
I said RPG, not action adventure game. KOTOR and KOTOR II seem to be more about fighting than character development. While Morrowwind is absolutely horrible and you cannot get stuck into it at all, it feels like a deeper version of Obilivion which is just a bland dungeon crawler. It is an RPG, you see this link? What does it say? Role-Playing, not Action-Adventure.Can you name a better RPG?Olimar_the_MinMorrowind, Olivion, Fallout, Fallout2, Fallout 3, The Witcher, Mass effect, KOTOR, Secret of Mana, Crono cross, Diablo, Diablo2, Guild wars, Baldurs Gate, baldur's gate2, neverwinter knights. Pokemon Chrystal (yes i love it!)
[QUOTE="jrabbit99"]The game isn't that good. Yes the graphics are good, but really there's just not a lot of content after the story. There's nothing drawing me back into the game. Unlike Oblivion, there are no guilds to enter or anything like that. Also, the combat and spells were really shallow. There was barely any categories to level up in, far to few. R3FURBISHEDYou have no desire to experience the other 2 endings? Experience how the game plays, how people percieve you when you are, say you were good and pure in one playthrough, good and corrupt? Evil and pure? Evil and corrupt? I personally am very interested in being good but corrupt. Will I choose many? Or will I choose only myself?
Once was enough for me. Button mashers get very boring and repetitive after awhile and magic was entirely too overpowered.

You can infact watch all 3 endings with 1 playthrough regardless of being Pure, Evil, Corrupt, Good & whatever. Simply by reloading the save just before you get the 3 only choices in the game. It's just one big pointless sims mini game outside main story, and seeing as being good or evil has no effect what so ever on the main story(which lets face it is what you'd play any RPG for.). There's no reason to play it all over again, it be understandable if it was far longer than 10 hours long and had a better storyline but no it doesn't. You play it once. No incentive to play it again. No, Fable II is a fun RPG.
I'm sorry, any game that allows me to spam poses for ten minutes so that I get married within twenty and then have a baby within twenty-five minutes is not the best RPG ever.

They're different approaches to the same genre. They both have an RPG core, but have different elements of gameplay incorporated into them. That doesn't create this enormous ground-breaking difference, though. Half-Life 2 is incredibly linear, but that doesn't make it any less of an FPS than say Battlefield.

No, but it does have RPG elements to it. The same way that having linear or non-linear gameplay doesn't make a game an entirely different genre.
Fable 2 sure was fun, but I'll stick to Fallout 3, thanks.
Anyway, I suggest you explore some of the RPGs previous generations offered...

pshh are you kidding? scyther was soooo much better than pinsir....
Fable 2 has got to be the best RPG ever. I just got it and it really deserves an 9.5 rating at least. The graphics are seamless and seem very realistic while the story is near perfect. The game's open-endness far surpasses other RPG games like GTA4 or MGS4. I do not understand how GTA4 can get such a high score while a great game Fable 2 can't? Is it bias? Fable is the obvious better game.

the RPG genre was created by using board games such as D&D as a basis, these board games had the strongpoint of actually roleplaying you characterm meaning you create you have multiple choices and paths on which to choose from which eventually define your character's way of acting and thinkings (hench the good and evil bars in KOTOR, or the lawfull, neutral, chaotic, good, true neutral and evil bars in D&D) at best you could say that the JRPGS are adventure games with RPG elements, but no more then that

Final Fantasy 6
Final Fantasy 7
Final Fantasy 9
Xenogears
Chrono Trigger

Legend Of Zelda(the whole series)
Phantasy Star 1-4

actually yes it does, it's missing one of the most (if not the most) important part in an RPG, it's like saying you have a racing game in which you can tune your car, buy parts, get endorsments, and sponsorhips, but you have no actual driving
i mean by using your logic what seperates GTA: SA from say.... Final Fantasy 7?

That doesn't make new games not FPSs. And having a multiple choice path isn't necessary to make an RPG. If that was the case then RPGs didn't really exist until the mid to late 90s. Having a good/bad character is just another gameplay mechanic, not a genre-altering factor.

Ultima was launched for the Apple II in 1980, it allowed you to do stuff like killing an entire city of you wanted to (and you had to bear it's consequences)

Can anyone tell me how fable 2 was good in your eyes?
Too short, Too easy, Worst ending ever, You buy and find weapons that don't matter (except the Red Dragon lol), Overall I knew it was going to be super short when I found the first 2 heros so fast.

wtf...
Anyway, you should play more RPGS because it's clear you haven't. I can respect your opinion if you simply don't like JRPGs but even so, better games would be: Baldurs Gate, Summoner, X-Men Legends, KOTOR, Oblivion, Morrowind, Diablo, The Witcher, and Titan Quest (Fallout 3 and STALKER aren't on this list cause I consider them shooters w/ RPG elements). However, if you do like JRPGS, the list of better games would simply be too large to post.
[QUOTE="Xalaten"]I doubt you have played Fable 2 then if you just call it a action adventure game with some minor RPG elements. Fable 2 is easily very deep with it's characteer development that changes depending on every move you make! Look at Fallout 3, that's what I would call a shooter with an automated shooting system while Baldur's Gate has horrible graphics. It's barely an rpg but if you must label it as one it's not even the best rpg on the 360. That would go to Mass Effect.
Fable 2 is just an incredibly simple, incredibly easy yet pretty action adventure game with some minor rpg elements. Calling it the best rpg ever is a slap in the face to true rpgs like Baldur's Gate and the Fallout series.
Olimar_the_Min
I doubt that you played MGS4 or GTA4 since you called them RPGs. :|
