Fable coming back

A new Fable is looking more likely than ever, with a new report claiming a story-focused entry is in the pipeline

I’d certainly love to see a new Fable game and it’ll be very interesting to see what kind of game these guys could make if this turns out to be true.

I'd like to see a new single player Fable so this is good news for me. I also think it's a good idea to give it to a new team to re-invent it, the formula became a bit stale by 3, who knows what they'll come up with.

First one was good, second one was average, and the third one was forgettable. Hopefully 4 brings back the charm that the original Fable had.

Hopefully, if fable does come back, its given to the proper people. Fable 3 and beyond were either boring or just bad. Fable is one of my favorite video games and i'd like at least one more solid game from the franchise.

I loved the first one, but the sequels sucked. I hope that they make it more like the first one and less like the sequels.

Maybe this game will actually be developed by competent and honest developers, instead of a bullshit artist.

I've heard this rumor several times now, and it was officially confirmed that GOAT dev PG was working on a new action RPG, so the rumor seems to make sense for now.

It will be interesting seeing a high profile project like this from PG, other than FH. Will it be exclusively single player? I hope they add some online features honestly, it helps keep the game in the limelight for longer and allows a bigger audience to enjoy it but the focus should be on single player story driven.

I like Fable 2 the most, I'm not a huge fan and never played the first. I'm more excited that the game is being done by PG than anything else to be honest, its day 1 from this dev for me, just tell me when.

In MS's defense, Fable 3 was a 2010 game. Plenty of time between releases

I'd personally prefer a new IP in the same style as Fable, but I'll take it... hopefully it's a reboot because I never finished any Fable games. Might have to go back and finish the first game... I have it sitting there on XB1.

I bet MS regretted turning down Lionhead Studios when Lionhead offer really cool ideas on what it was supposed to be Fable 4 (before Fable Legends) set in Victorian era. Lionhead sure had better ideas then what MS ask them to just make an all MP game which by the way no one ask. I'm sure MS saw the era of there ways and will try to go what Lionhead had hope to do. Whatever Fable setting will be, I hope it turns out to be fun.

@cainetao11: I heard about this late last year, and Playground Games have been hiring people from well name devs such as what's been reported in this article. So with 400 people on board they should have no problem making Forza Horizon 4/Fable 4 at the same time, and if this is all true we should see FH4 around September/October this year and Fable 4 in 2019.

No point in regretting anything in life. Can't be changed and commiserating about it doesn't make the next game happen.

LOL at no one asked for in regards to Fable Legends. I didn't ask for a new God of war with a male Ellie either. When I do ask for a game like say Half Life 3 it doesn't get made. None of these companies owe us shit. It's business, we pay money for what we wish to play.

Closing Lionhead could be used as a capital loss and certain write offs. Now someone is probably making a new Fable. There is so much that us at SW do not know about the ins and outs of corporate money.

No we like gameplay first and foremost, unlike you cows who like graphics first, story second, and gameplay last.

Sounds like this could possibly be what Playground Games is working on. My only hope/wish is that the game features campaign co-op n some kind of multiplayer. Helps keep the game alive rather than a one done sp only game thats dead after u beat it.

I kind of want them to keep it SP, and just use the system they had in 3 where you could see other people's gamerpic (which could also be turned off) in the world and could trade weapons/armour/clothes with these people.

Co-op would be awesome, but damn that's going to be hard to do, but if done right would be killer. I think they should just leave MP alone for a title such as this as the series (If I recall) has never had MP, but I do think MS will want some sort of MP in it to implement some form of microtransactions (ooh that bad word lol) to make money on the side.

Given that every entry in the series was a disappointment to me, I see no reason to get excited yet.

If it's a new Fable done by Playground, I'm actually interested to see where they take it.

I'm curious to see where this goes. I've always felt the fable series has potential it doesn't meet for me personally. i hope a new development team can make the combat feel more satisfying
