It's not a friggin party game. It is a fighter with additional side-games that also involves fighting. I dont see any goddamn dancing, fishing, cooking, or eating contests! Just straight up fighting! End of story!

Nah,
SSBB is a hardcore turn based action rpg with a flight sim built in.
Of course it's a fighting game, never been marketed as anything but.
It's a puzzle game.sexy_chimpYou don't solve puzzles in this game. You solve disputes........ WITH VIOLENCE!
It's not a fighting game. Virtua Fighter 5 is, Soul Calibur IV is, Street Fighter IV is... I can go on. :|ferrarimanf355
I agree, I just don't consider SSBB a fighting game. Don't get me wrong guys I am not bashing SSBB infact I reckon its an awseome game, just not a fighting game, a party brawler or something like that for sure.

The Flight sim section is what makes the game AWESOME!

What a fantastic argument. Listing other fighting games with no further explination makes SSB not a fighter.

So Kingdom hearts, FFXII and FF VS XIII is action games and not RPGs?
[QUOTE="fierro316"]It's a party beat em up like Powerstone.krunkfu2
yea powerstone's funner though
but SSB is more fun.
[QUOTE="bigevil_rashek"]I thought it was a FPS with light rpg elements.dhjohns

Powerstone is incredibly weak when compared to SSBM (haven't played Brawl, so I can't speak on what I haven't played).
Not a true fighting game. But still a great game. I always called it a platforming-fighter.
Been playing Brawl for almost a whole month now... it's enjoyable. I wish stage editor was more robust, but leaves room for the next game. Oh and online needs much improvement.
Other than those two things, it's great. Can't wait until I can actually read the menus instead of memorizing those gigantic buttons.

so because you can jump on a platform its not a true fighting game?
Who the hell says otherwise?Lazy_Boy88
Many fanboys. I invite them all to tell me what makes it not a fighting game. I can trace every element of Super Smash Bros to one fighter or another.
Street Fighter isn't a fighting game. Neither is Sould Cailibur. All you do is fight the other guy. If you tell me that its a fighter game, then youre a fanboy. Lulz.
Seriously, though. You fight the other guy. Who cares if that other guy has health or percentage. Calling Super Smash Bros anything else then a Fighter is like calling Mass Effect anything else but an RPG. They aren't traditional, but who cares.

SSBB is a childs fighting game where they can bash buttons or in the wiis case waggle a remote for hours on end till they get tired.
You realize that you can win Soul Caliber just by pressing the same button over and over again. Good luck trying to do that in a Super Smash Bros game. Calling Smash a button masher is a huge slap in the face for those "real" fighters. I have played some other fighters, and I find myself pressing the same button over and over until my foe is dead. You can't do that in Smash.SSBB is a button masher..
get soul caliber 4 or SF4 for real fighting games

...Ugh... Lots of childern ust play this game... yeah.. you are so right... But here is the thing. People don't play Smash to win a Plasma Screen TV and 5000 bucks? Right? That explains the 8.9 Melee got. Yeah, and what did the last Soul Caliburs get... Um... I'm thinking each one, besides that perfect one... got an 8.5. Yeah, outscored but .4 points. Looks like that button smasher with no depth just owned your "super hardcore fighter game that you obviously don't have to push one button over and over again unlike the uber kiddy Smash like you do."[QUOTE="Grodus5"][QUOTE="white45e"][QUOTE="Grodus5"]Street Fighter isn't a fighting game. ok 2 thing wrong with your statement.. um your first quote. It playes like a normal controler so no ""waggle"" so first arguement flawed. 2nd. children with no money can afford it.. um.. $10. less then 360 and ps3.games. yeah, they must be really broke.
