Yeah, I remember when I first saw HL2 I was pretty impressed. I would even mention Crysis but to actually get that game running is really expensive....So Im not just talking about good graphix or a robust engine, im talking about squeezing everything a system has to show its true potential. Something F5 almost did with the GC.

Again, Im talking about the console front. If we were talking about the PC market that would be a totally different ball game. Not to mention on the console its much harder (I think, I may be wrong) to actually suprise someone with graphics than it is on a PC.

A PC can do/have alot of things that arent possible on cosole. Granted Valve has put TF2, Portal, HL and pretty much all the episodes on consoles...they dont always translate that well.

That's not really significantly more powerful. The XBox 1 was about twice as powerful as the PS2, and yet many people still argue that the differences between the two system's graphics wasn't that huge.

TyrantDragon55

Execpt for games like Escape from Butchers Bay, which were developed from the gound up to max out the Xbox... then it's no contest.

Factor 5 spin machine = "Our Wii engine can do everything that the PS3 can do!"

Sheep go crazy....

What they mean by that, is just like Lair, when you put the game in the disk tray, and boot the console up, the game comes on.

See, it does everything the PS3 can do!

Asked about the Wii game's state of completion, Eggebrecht responded: "We're pretty much at a state where we're almost done with the engine. At the same time, we've also been working on content quite a bit because we had enough running very quickly on the platform that we were able to. But the biggest milestone or mark right now is that we're almost done with the engine and it does everything that the PS3 did and then some, quite frankly. So we're pretty happy with that.

Im pretty sure everyone assume they meant things beside graphics. Perhaps enemies on screen, certain effects, ect. Although I dont doubt the game, whatever it is, will look appealing to most hardcore gamers.

People (Bread or Decide) think that SMG could be done on GC? Well no, it can't.

Japanese_Monk

What exactly was done in SMG graphicse wise that can't be done on the Gamecube? I see refinement. Nothing groundbreaking. Again I bring up God of War II which can rival any Wii games graphics IMHO.

Valve Made the Source Engine which is able to get Expanded with each game Half-Life 2: Showed off the Source Engine, Half-Life 2: Episode 1 (Showed off there New HDR Lighting) Half-Life 2: Episode 2 (Showed off there new Physics the Bridge getting Destroyed at the begining Showed that) Left 4 Dead might expand there AI because That game looks to have impressive AI.Nintendo_Ownes7
Any engine can be expanded, that's nothing special. To me, Id makes the best engines. They are easy do maintain, to develop with, and are optmized to the limit, Carmack is a optmization beast. Factor 5 have some talented optmization programmers too. I want to see what they will do with the Wii.

Well, ssbb is using the Havok physics engine that Halo 3 uses, and that definitely couldn't run on the GC. So...

Well okay at least now were getting specific. How does this translate on screen? Halo 3 wasn't much of a visual improvement over Halo 2 either.

This translates on screen by using much more specific physics. In other words, when a character is hit, they flinch/fly in a more realistic way, as opposed to the fixed animations that SSBM used.

Thanks for talking out of ur arse, u're not a game developer COW!

Yeah I only own and play Super Mario Galaxy. What do I know I can only see the game and play it and can compare it to other games I've played and seen. Crazy.

Heck I remember a comparison video gametrailers did for SMG and Super Mario Sunshine. Not a big difference when you see them side by side.

And all this coming from the wii fanboys that don't care about graphics. Hypocritical much?

Didn't Factor 5 a long time ago say that they were disappointed with the Wii hardware and yet they are making a new Wii game?

Julian Eggebrecht:
"Developing for the PS3 is completely different from the Wii. The Wii technology for graphics is well-known; it's essentially a turbo-charged GameCube -- which for 640x480 resolution games is a very formidable chipset."

Anyway I was a fan of the Rogue Squadron games so let's see what happens....

A turbo charged Gamecube can be light years above Gamecube you know. In fact, it's the best way to describe such a jump.

Even though Factor 5 made a Gamecube launch game look as good as a first gen Xbox 360 game in 480i, we will see if they can keep their word with Pilotwings.

No one ever said that is was light years above the Gamecube. We said that it's significantly above the gamecube, which this dev's comment supports.

I love the fanboys in this thread damage controling, acting like they know more about Factor 5's Wii engion then Factor 5 does...

Seriously Factor 5 has a long history of pushing systems... I don't see why we can't just take what they say at face value and believe them.

Well technically they would be right. The 360 and PC could run the all of the engines, but couldn't mimc the motion sensing. The Wii could could do the motion sensing, but not run the engines. Bad game or not, the PS3 is the only console capable of running it.

Probably because as highly talented as Factor 5 is, they can't magically make PS3 quality graphics on inferior hardware.

I didn't see them say they could... They said the Wii engine can do everything the PS3 one can and then some. I didn't see them say that they could magical make the Wii use High Res textures or output in HD resolutions.

Yet another case of "the gaming community take everything literally".
