I don't think so.
Every gameplay video I've seen for this game has looked absolutely awful.
10/10 seems very unlikely, even coming from GameSpot.
Dear god I hope not.. Oblivion was a awful rpg, and Fallout seems to be changing very little in its formula.. If fallout 3 gets a AAAA for any of the platforms, I will never come to this site again :?sSubZerOoAwful old-school cRPG, but a fun game! No way in hell it's going to get a 10/10, but I'm expecting an 8.5-9.0 for it.

IDK man the game was just weak on all fronts.. It had no real character development.. Combat was lame and boring with a bunch of flailing.. Leveled system, no real story to follow.. No real choices to make any missions.. No real Uniqueness in skill choice/class choice sense you can do anything no matter what. I would have cut the game some slack if the action was fun, but to me it just wasn't..
We haven't seen a fall out game in like forever so could this be a glorious comeback or it is going to fall under the AAA?macabalonyits going to be lucky to get a 7.0. I don't see anything special about it. This is coming from someone who liked Oblivion despite its faults.

All of those are hallmark Elder Scrolls game traits (except for the story to follow possibly, it's traditionally there but somewhat buried), and it's a pretty well-regarded series. And in some cases, things like the combat were done better than the previous games. I mean, do you remember the NPC's in Daggerfall? The menu to talk to them... haha.If it doesnt score between 1 and 10 I'll admit ownage.carlisledavid79
That's a rather bold prediction. :o

I by no means am a fan of Elder Scrolls, but I can at least say Morrowind had things that did not match to Oblivion.. For instance I had a choice to make with major and minor skills and IT DID matter which was which.. In the end you never had access to all skills.. Secondly everythign was handplaced, with very little leveling.. And there were conquences, if you joind one guild it bared you from joining antoehr etc etc.
I hope it doesn't. It looks like a good game, but I can't see it getting a 10, especially considering what Bethesda is doing to this franchise.-RPGamer-
What, like giving it another chance by keeping it alive?
No, by ruining it! We like our games to stay exactly the same. Its forbidden that you change a series in any way. Doing so is like heresy.\sarcasm

By exactly the same, meaning depth.. And changing a series, meaning dumbing down.. I would agree with this statement.. No one is saying to keep it the same, most don't mind change.. What we do mind when things are dumbed down to the point that it makes it even hard to consider it a rpg to begin with.

IMO, it's hard to say at the moment. I feel it will be better then Oblivion but it will be not without its faults. Should be a good buy or multiple rent's.

Don't start the "change" argument. No matter how long you argue or how many things you cite, people will never get it.By exactly the same, meaning depth.. I gotta say at this point that it should be noted that none of us have actually played this game to really know what its going to offer.

From what I have seen from the videos and articles about the game, things ment to advertise the best parts of the game.. It looks to be a slightly altered version of Oblivion.

Sorry for the 2nd comment but i wanted to reply to this. I have never played the other fallouts and I would probably feel the same way about Fallout 3 if i did. but even if it dosent show the Fallout Franchise Justice it will most likely be an awesome game along the lines of Oblivion.
So my response to you Loyal Fallout fans. approach this game as if its its own game. Pretend it is not a fallout. Otherwise you will play it and get mad because it just isnt the same.

Which is why your comment fails.. Not once did I mention the previous Fallout series.. Oblivion was a BAD RPG by any standards imo.. I am not comparing Fallout 3 to the previous games nor I am comparing Oblivion to the previous elder scrolls games.. I am comparing Oblivion and Fallout 3 (my observations of the game) with rpg's in general.. And there is my point, OBLIVION WAS AWFUl.. It had no real character development, a leveled enviroment of both loot and guys making exploration USELESS, poor story, side quests had no real dicision makign what soe ver, NO REAL CONSQUENCES.. The lists just goes on, Oblivion takes the pedastal for the most dumbed down game I have played that has been tooted as a AAA rpg thats supposedly a hardcore game.

Yes b/c Oblivion is set in a post-apocalyptic world (environment/scenario), with VATS (battle system), and SPECIAL (dev system) etc :|
This is the same thing I don't like when people say FF titles are all the same. :|

ah, I missed the "Oblivion Hater" part. Well my friend you are going to hate life this holiday season cause nothing is stopping these "dumbed-downed" games you mention. Oblivion got so much Praise I thought it was another MTV music awards. Im assuming your from the PC gaming genre and if so, i feel your pain. Im a walking PS2 fanbase and the garbage that gets released today kills me. So its something us true gamers just have to sit through im afraid.....

But all FF titles are the same. Terrible and kiddish RPG franchise.
I'm just kidding with ya
But back on topic, considering how much of a success Oblivion was this will most likely will get the exact same praise.
Get ready for the "professionals" calling it one of the best "RPGs" of all time.

I disagree with this.
I got the following quote from a Deus Ex forum and the subject about Deus Ex 2. That game, on it's own was a GREAT, but it was a terrible sequel. Here is what one poster said about that argument:
"DX2 by itself wasn't that bad. But the fact of the matter is that it IS the sequel to the ever-so-awesome DX1 and it didn't live up to it. You simply can't tell people it was a good game in it's own right so don't compare it to the game it claims to be the successor of. It is the successor, so it will be compared to what it claims to be an extension of by name and it falls short on all accounts save graphics which is simply expected through the passage of time."
That's the problem with Fallout 3. I can pretend it's not a sucessor, but it is. And there's no use in saying it shouldn't be compared.
