No, you're wrong :)Juggernaut140
This. :) The gameplay in Fallout 2 is far superior, and really, more advanced and innovative, even today. :)

I can't believe that there are people that think Fallout 2 is superior to Fallout 3. It's not even a comparison. That's like comparing Ghosts 'n Goblins on NES to Resident Evil 4. Fallout 3 is so superior to Fallout 2, that the difference is laughable. Fallout 2 looks and plays like an ancient game in comparison.

Opinions?

I have not played Fallout 3 and I have not completed Fallout 2, but what I can tell you is that in my experience Fallout 1, yes 1, is definitively better than Oblivion. I enjoyed it MUCH more.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I played the original Fallout AFTER I played Oblivion.

i guess you like more simplistic games then, which isn't a big problem. if you think i'm wrong please explain, oh please do because i've played it 20 times, how you think that fallout is more enjoyable. i'd love to hear why.

Fallout 2 is fantastic. It has a far more open ended design, and your decisions and consequences affect the world in a far deeper way. And its an actual role playing game. Not an action rpg, that enjoys throttling itself to the lowest common denominator with crappy real time combat. Fallout 3 is a shallow barstard child. A good game yes. Does it hold a candle to the originals? Hell no.

Exactly what I am thinking. Possibly one of the.... how do I put it........? Hmm... silly... things I have heard on SW in a long while.... Oh and I too played FO1 and 2 after oblivion. The depth of the two is not even comparable to Oblivion.

[QUOTE="BobHipJames"][QUOTE="Timberwolf5578"] As far as the core gameplay goes, I'd kind of have to agree with the TC. The old Fallout's have really aged bad in the gameplay department. Especially with the god awful, clunky interface. So, does that mean I have a short attention span and I'm in unintelligent? :|3picuri3
Funny how I've played Fallout 1 and 2 and I didn't find anything wrong with them.

Funny how I played them when they came out and didn't find anything wrong at the time either :o Scary, amirite :| Of course, then I tried playing them later and the gameplay bugged me. Especially the interface. So goddamn clunky :|

I played both games again recently and they have aged very well. I can not think of any better rpgs than those two. And what was so clunky about the interface because it didn't bother me at all. I could easily navigate through the menu and see which perks I had, the overall charma meter and so on.

Fallout1 is best and fallout2 is also very good. Fallout3 was a good game, but not as good as the first two imo.

Even playing Fallout1 and 2 again recently, i enjoy them still.

Fallout 3 doesn't even compare to Fallout 1 or 2... Although Fallout 3 is still quite a fun game, it's not even close to the first ones.

While FO3 is a good game too, it can be a tad bit boring at times, I've played FO2 through prolly 5+ times and I don't think I've ever become bored with it, you always have a sense of progress, everything is just packed in more tightly yet it still feels much larger and varied. Yeah sure it looks dated after 10 years, go figure. Still the better game imo.

The only think better in fallout 3 are the graphic. Other than that fallout 2 is a better game despite beign released in 98. Also imo isometric rpg's are far better than the fp's look alike rpg's like fallout 3 and mass effect ( btw i liked both games but i enjoyed most older rpgs )

^ Mass Effect is more like an action-adventure with stats just like other Bioware titles (yes Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 included).

^ There are older more hardcore console gamers too (myself playing on consoles since the SNES/Genesis era), and I'm not calling all console (owners) turds, just the new casual generation (starting with PS2 and Xbox).

There's no way to build a proper rpg without important choices and their consequences. And if you get caught properly (I don't mena that s**** system) then yes you should be punished.

It would have still sold, had it been an adult title.

Fallout 3 is a great game, but it doesn't offer as much freedom or role-playing depth as Fallout 2. FO3 is more action based which disappointed me because you can't play through the game by just using diplomacy. Even with the atmosphere, I found Fallout 2 to be better. The settlements felt more occupied and more alive than Fallout 3 which is pretty embarrassing that a game this gen couldn't have had a better atmosphere than a game that came nearly 10 years ago. Fallout 3's biggest problems is poor writing, characters, and story. Fallout 2 surpasses it in all three of those.

freedom for role-playing depth? what? c'mon, give examples. i love all this denial without substance, just opinion. fair enough i guess, to each their own, just totally fail to see what people prefer about the originals despite having played them numerous times myself.
