Too bad the PC version is bugged all to hell, check out how many posts there are on the PC forum over there about crashes and such. Link

Luckily I was able to get my running stable after hours of tweaking, that is, its running smooth so far.

Arronaxxx

all plat fourms have problems, there is bugs the pc version is the least bugged with a new pacth coming very soon. Ps3 has the must problems i hear.

No, the PC version is one of the most bugged games ever, read some of those posts, people can't even get the game to start, some can't even install it, others have had their saved games get corrupted. Trust me, I have the PC version(360 version as well) and the PC version is super bugged, its insane.

i've heard the PC pirated version is bugged to hell - intentionally.

i've had no issues with the PC version at all, and i'm using Vista 64. my friends have had no issues either.

Same here, been playing for a week, havn't seen any crashes or bugs. Smooth like a butter. If it weren't for that *censored* level cap...

I don't get that. Why does it exist? You should be able to make your character as powerful as you want, not as powerful as Bethesda wants. That's just stupid.

About The Witcher:

"The game uses the controversial TAGES copy protection system, which, when triggered, quietly and undetectably sabotages the content of the game to make it unwinnable by making certain keyNPCs disappear permanently. TAGES has been found to conflict with disc image drive emulators."

Salt_The_Fries

yeah, this system is present in one form or another in many many games. people think their l33t and understand how the whole scene process works and that pirating is the same as retail - more often than not it isn't. i remember reading an interview with a developer about a recent game that was huge on PC, can't recall which it was but it was in the last 2 years: '95% of the complaints we get to our tech support lines, and on our tech support forums, are from people who pirated the game. how do we know that? the issue was meant to come up as part of our DRM protection - the irony of all this was how aggravated and annoyed the people were that reported this issue. they acted so righteous and swore and yelled at us - but they never paid a dime for our work.'.

it's very common these days.

It's funny, i have the PS3 version and i haven't experienced any bug in about 20 hours of play time, except the notifications one of course, but that was easily solved by turning notifications off. I guess the PS3 version is not so bad after all.

You can't intentionally bug a pirated game, it doesn't work like that, pirates take the retail game and Nuke / Crack it.

Just look through the thousands of posts from people who have crashing issues with Fallout 3 on PC, its bugged, theres no way to deny it.

3picuri3

just keep thinking that mate. it's a well known fact that games have been intentionally gimped when DRM notices something is amiss. sometimes they let the game run or seem cracked intentionally but the DRM silently unravels the game with a series of bugs, aiming problems, AI problems, etc.

i'm sorry, but i don't think it's a coincidence that friends of mine that pirated have issues, and those that bought have none.

they had systems similar to this in Codemasters games in the past and false scene releases have also featured intentionally borked features / save systems.

i can deny it's bugged because i haven't encountered a single bug with what is an identical setup to many people complaining while i'm 40+ hours in - neither have any of my friends that bought it. weird eh?

Again, it doesn't work like that, you can't bug a pirated game, a pirated game is the retail game that has been Nuked / Cracked. Do you even know how that works?

Just because you haven't had any problems with it does not mean the problem doesn't exist for other people who have different PC set-ups and different software installed on their PC's, its bugged and its there, theres no denying, thousands of people have issues, thats proof enough.

it appears i know better than you how it works - because it has happend in the past. they're called fake scene releases, intentionally bugged to discourage pirating. sorry mate, it exists.

2nd, the process of cracking is nowhere near as simple as you make it out to be, DRM can be 'stealth tied' to gameplay mechanics - google up Codemasters DRM and inform yourself.

maybe me and all my friends are lucky, but maybe Bethsoft was clever and it's just a ton of pirates whining - which i truly hope it is :).

Thats not a pirated version, thats a fake torrent which usually have viruses in them, its not the same thing as a Pirated version, you don't know what you're talking about.

I never said it was simple, I said a pirated game is cracked / nuked, when its done properly, the crack / nuke, bypasses the Securom or whatever method the company uses for copyright protection.

Lame game IMO, dont like the art style and the setting (whats so interesting about half dstroyed buildings). I am also not a fan of the VATS system.

Overall I dont think the game deserves 4.7 million sales. That is waay too much for an average game.

i dunno, but it's one of the main reasons I'm waiting until the game is cheap before buying. I never liked the level restrictions in the old PC D&D games either >_>

"Bethesda has shipped an estimated 4.7 million copies of the game to retail outlets all across North America and the UK"

Those are the shipped numbers... but it did have to sale quite a number of copies i believe in order to be able to ship so many. Or maybe they just fooled retailers into back more copies lol

He has made it perfectly clear that he pirated it by never denying it when it was implied that his version was bugged because it was pirated... He just said it isn't possible for bugs to be caused due to piracy(despite it being rather easy manipulate files when piracy is obvious). Several developers have been quoted saying their games have gotten a bad reputation due to the DRM causing crashes from pirated versions....

oh i know, just trying to get him to admit it. it's generally pirates that give the 'it's 100% retail' excuse when people try to mention TAGES or other intrusive DRM that is tied to game mechanics.

it's no coincidence pirate boards are filled with complaints about crashes and save corruption when official boards have next to none. the official thread on these issues in the bethsoft boards is 3 pages. 3 pages for a game that sold over a million in it's first week on PC. gimme a break it's not due to using a pirated copy.

that was a quick guess, it's actually this much: 731,000

17% of the 4.3 million was PC sales according to PC World.

I will admit, I have not been without my own crashes though(2 crashes to desktop thanks mostly to other programs trying to download updates in the background, and one bug that forced a reload of my save game)

Just not BAD crashes...

Have had more crashes with the 360 version to be quite honest(I got both(technically rented the 360 version) because I can't always use my gaming PC since it is the only PC in the house).

360 version certainly isn't BAD, but have had it lock up 3-4 times. Also, my follower disappeared for about 6 hours before finally finding his way back to me....

Even tho it's only shipped figures that's still damn impressive, and this time around I'd say it's well deserved as well. Hopefully wRPGs in general will see a boost thanks to success like this.

About bugs, I haven't had any significant ones, no crashes either. Some strange stuff like people not reacting to murders right next to them and enemies glitching through walls, but those tend to be around in most open world RPGs ..especially in Beth ones.

believe it or not it was sold out almost across the entire downtown core in Toronto, had a few friends that had to leave the city to buy it. on top of that, like 80% of my friends list are playing the game.. pretty good indicator it's selling well.

I've had some jags and chopping as well as 3 freezes since the game came out. No game breaking glitches yet. I'm loving the game play though. I hope they patch it for all the other people who are having serious problems.

4.7 million shipped means nothing. E.T. shipped 2 million in a few days. Look how that sold...
I'm sure Fallout 3 won't be a flop in sales like E.T. was, but shipped numbers mean nothing at all. Wait until actual sales numbers come in.

Really? I was surprised how smooth it ran for me. After all the hassle I had with Crysis Warhead crashing, and other issues with it, it was a relief. I found out that when I run Fallout 3 from a shortcut it crashes instantly, but as long as I run it from my Games browser it works great, I get a good FPS too!

Companies rarely ship a high number like that unless demand needs that projected number. Seriously I tire of how people put down "ship" numbers.

Actually, Companies consistantly put out high shipments specially on big games this is a simple fact and is how buisness is done, To meet the need of stores publishers shipping plants consistantly put out 2m unit shipments within the first few days.

if your going to have atleast 10 copies in every bestbuy,wal-mart,k-mart...ect over the globe on in any given country then you need atleast that much shipped to fill that order there can be differences of near 50-100k+ units sitting on store shells after the rush to get the game.

Actually, Companies consistantly put out high shipments specially on big games this is a simple fact and is how buisness is done, To meet the need of stores publishers shipping plants consistantly put out 2m unit shipments within the first few days.

Consistently put out 4.7 though? Seriously they don't just make up numbers like that for the fun of it.

Sell-in numbers are useless when you intend to keep a full supply channel, i.e. console hardware. If you intend to eventually empty out your channel (or at least significantly thin it, as you would with a console title), then sell-in should approach sell-through, given enough time.

I don't know if video gaming market is so strictly monitored like music market is, with Nielsen Soundscan and stuff, and even if it is, such knowledge costs much and it is not available for everyone.

[QUOTE="3picuri3"]

[QUOTE="Jamex1987"]How do you know it sold over a million on PC?micky4889

that was a quick guess, it's actually this much: 731,000

17% of the 4.3 million was PC sales according to PC World.

28% PS3

55% 360

They are UK ONLY numbers world wide the PS3 and PC will be a lot closer to the 360

edit: the BS is in bold

Yes, the UK is hardly a PC-friendly market. I'm expecting those percentages to be reversed in Germany and France and much more even in the USA. Heck, we're not even counting Steam/Direct2Drive sales here...

OMG :o. That's awesome lol. I still need to get it too. It'll add at least one more unit sold! Contrary to what the haters thought, F3 is a critical and commercial success (yeah, I know you're mad and all :( but its actually a good game).
