Because they play the Vanilla Version of Fallout 3, and because they feel getting ripped off by all those DLC, they then automatically think PCMods will let them down too.

Anchorage = mediocre and short
Pitt = fun, but nothing special and short
PCmods = limitless fun and very cool?

Even a fool can install PCmods for Fallout3, :)
Console owners usually get totally hyped when they hear, OMG Yoda/Darthvader as DLC! Or, WoW new customes in [insert game] for only 3 dollars!
Then your mind will prolly blow up if you see these mods, they are all free.

I will only post screenshots of mods that are fun to see, screenshots of gameplay overhauls (which are considered the best of them all, cuz it doesnt simply add an item/quest/house, but changes the way the game is played) cant be provided with spectacular screenshots and consoleboys will prolly say "meh" so I wont be posting those.

Crysis nanosuithttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63LKv0Y3rp8

And yes, this suit doesnt only look cool and pretty much the same as the original (this mod got banned on certain sites cuz it the files to create this suit was ripped directly from Crysis the game itself), but it also has the same functionality. Max speed = well u run very fast:)
Max strenght = 1 hit melee kills
Cloak = invisibility
etc etc.

BulletTime mod... check video, nuff said:p

Marts Mutant Mod
some of the many features:
- adds a load of extra monsters to the game (and i mean a LOT!)
- a lot more creature spawns, the wasteland turns into the wild wild west with you in it!
- groups of monsters fight eachother, you will see this happening a lot, you are no longer the first target.
- Its not unusual to see like 30 ghouls in 1 room in a random Metro :). Splash aka explosion-skilled weapons like Missile Launchers and grenades = win here.
- and a lot more, but i bet you guys don like to read a lot:p

You could have just posted this stuff without all of the BS.

That said, thanks. I gotta try some of these after Broken Steel.

I would hate to have the couple hundred hours of diggin around in the Captial Wasteland to be flushed because of a bad mod interfering with any of the updates.

Uh, I thought it was mainly just us PC elitists that realised that Fallout 3 and Oblivion were highly overrated. :P

Anyway, mods can make great games even better, but they tend not to be able to fix games that are fundamentally broken, like Oblivion and Fallout 3 (for example, even with a bunch of complete overhaul mods for Oblivion, it still wouldn't deserve its scores).
I played Morrowind and Fallout 2 for many hundreds of hours without needing any mods to keep me interested - and even with a ton of mods, I can't seem to stay interested in either Oblivion or Fallout 3. They're the two most overrated RPGs of all time, imo.

I thought the Hermits were saying they were overrated. Fallout 1/2 better than 3 and Oblivion noobified unlike Morrowind and stuff like this.

Dont tell me Fallout 3 should have gotten an 8 :) Of course, Morrowind is a better game than Oblivion, but we are talking about Fallout 3 here. And i dont know what you mean by playing Fallout 2 for hundreds of hours.... You are telling me you've played fallout 2 for what?... 400 hours? I myself have played fallout 2 for like 200 hours, but that is because i played the game several times over the last 10 years. Its not possible to spend 200+ hours on fallout 2, it simply doesnt have enough content for that, unless you mean by beating the game several times over the past x years.

Did Bethesda ever release the TES Construction Toolbox for Fallout3? (or I guess it would be called FO Construction Tool Box, even though FO3 is nothing more than an elaborate mod of Oblivion :x )

I'm pretty sure they named it (appropriately enough ) the G.E.C.K for Fallout 3. For me, Fallout 3 has plenty of content to keep me happy as is, and I've got it for the PS3 so no DLC for me. However, I've bee keeping an eye on the team at Fallout3mod.com and their attempt to remake the original Fallout using the Fallout 3 engine. Seems pretty interesting to me, and if they can do it, I'll likely pick up the PC version just to try it out.

Come back when mods are as easy as puting a file or folder in the game directory and it works without fail.

Installation for most mods (that I've come across for Oblivion and Fallout 3) are as easy as extracting an archive to the main directory of the game.

These mods don't really intrest me. 2 sound like gimmicks, fun to mess around with for a bit, but probably game breaking realisticly speaking. The last one would just be an extreme increase in difficulty and frustration. To high an enemy density is not a good thing by any standards. Mods don't really impress me unless they actually add some meaningful and original content to the game, and in most cases that means adding entire new locations and quests, and it has to be done well. That or entire new games.

The TC's examples were not good honestly. Except for Marts mutants mod. I also thought it looked stupid at first but when you actually play it it's awesome, it makes the game actually challenging and adds variety to the enemies.

There are also survival mods to make the game more realistic and actually feel like you're struggling to survive in a nuclear wasteland. There is a mod that let's you set up small camps anywhere in the world and recruit wastelanders to come live with you in your camp/village.

Then there's FOOK which adds hundreds of new weapons and clothing/armor pieces, also reskins alot of items in the game for the better.

These are just some of the great mods so far and the construction kit has only been out for like 5 months. A year from now there will be epic quest mods and stuff like you see with Oblivion.

Vanilla, arguably. With mods, no. :) Oblivion is Bethesda's community gem. It's been transformed numerous times by mods, and has essentially been made one of the deepest RPGs this generation with them as well. Anyway Fallout 3 is better without mods, but with them it has yet to reach the same level as Oblivion has.

I'm currently running MMM, XFO, UPP, FOOK DarnifiedUI, Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch and a few other random mods for better looking blood, sounds and textures. It was surprisingly easy getting them to work together without any compatibility errors. It's like night and day when comparing to vanilla Fallout 3, which I first played on my 360. Almost every aspect of the game has been enhanced, overall making it a much richer experience.

Oh please, like that's all you can add. Perhaps his example wasn't the greatest, but the point is still there. Numerous gameplay mods (hundreds, and in Oblivion's case, several thousand) help lengthen the longevity of the game. Quest mods that last longer than the official expansions, new locations and areas to explore, total conversions (basically an entirely new game), and various other types of mods help bring up the replay value.

Yeah its overrated in general, it doesnt take a fanboy to realise that, just a bit of common sense.

Oblivion falls under this category too.

Quite frankly as far as RPGs go yes FO1 and 2 destroy 3.

However.

FO3 is still a damn good game, that is very enjoyable.

Anyway, I reinstalled the game today by chance, and I plan to download some mods, so i'll have to keep these all in mind.

Bethesda makes good game worlds...but not very good games. Their story-writing is crap. Only way to play any Bethesda game is with mods.
