I thought the Hermits were saying they were overrated. Fallout 1/2 better than 3 and Oblivion noobified unlike Morrowind and stuff like this.waynehead895
I have lots of freinds who are mainly console gamers who enjoyed Elderscrolls:Daggerfall, Elderscrolls:Arena and Elderscrolls Morrowind more then Elderscrolls Oblivion. Its not just pc gamers bud :P
As for Fallout3, it surprised me and was a good game (although i do think Fallout1 and 2 are better games overall).
To thread starter, thanks for this post, i didnt relize there was a mod for the Nanosuit for Fallout3! :P
[QUOTE="chadwardennn"]Dont tell me Fallout 3 should have gotten an 8 :) Of course, Morrowind is a better game than OblivionSaturos3091Vanilla, arguably. With mods, no. :) Oblivion is Bethesda's community gem That would be Morrowind ;)
I'm pretty sure they named it (appropriately enough ) the G.E.C.K for Fallout 3. For me, Fallout 3 has plenty of content to keep me happy as is, and I've got it for the PS3 so no DLC for me. However, I've bee keeping an eye on the team at Fallout3mod.com and their attempt to remake the original Fallout using the Fallout 3 engine. Seems pretty interesting to me, and if they can do it, I'll likely pick up the PC version just to try it out. I wouldnt be too optimistic. Remember Morroblivion? It was a mod that allowed you to upscale Morrowind to oblivion graphics. Basically, you need a copy of both Morrowind and Oblivion. And then the mod took the Morrowind files and updated all the models with Oblivion models. Bethesda closed down the mod claiming that "it used files from another game" (even though it was their game). I have no idea why they would do this since this would just encourage more people to buy Morrowind :? Anyway, with a Fallout 1 remake, they wouldn't use files from previous fallouts (except maybe music files) but I could see Bethesda closing any such job down, in case they ever decide to try and rob people by destroying--err---remaking Fallout 1 themselves.[QUOTE="II_Seraphim_II"]
Did Bethesda ever release the TES Construction Toolbox for Fallout3? (or I guess it would be called FO Construction Tool Box, even though FO3 is nothing more than an elaborate mod of Oblivion :x )

My someone fails at bumping a two month old thread and then adding nothing to it. You sir get the fail award.
[QUOTE="gago-gago"]If you really care that much about trophies, just give yourself a cookie everytime you kill 1K guys or something. Except the game already has achievements because of games for windows live.Do these PC mods gives you extra Trophies and Achievements? :P

Mods extend the lifetime of a title.
They do not, however, make the title magically better as is.
I hold Oblivion to be over rated, but i do love Fallout 3
Irick_cb
Some do, some actually make the game better. Stalker CS is a much better game with certain mods installed. Not many games are like this but there are a few games that are a little broken without the community mods.

You overlooked the "as is" part.
I should not have to compensate for the Devs with mods to fix their game.
Just my thoughts.
I'm a PC Gamer and I thought both Fallout 3 and Oblivion were overrrated, although mods added a ton of fun (more fun than the original game) :D

I agree with your thoughts lol. Its not very good when a game has to be rescued by the community from being a broken game, a vanilla version of the game should..well work. I was merely pointing out that there are rare occasions where a mod/game overhaul do actually improve the game.
Actually, I'm pretty sure its most consolites that praise Oblivion/Fallout 3 and PC gamers who've played Daggerfall/Morrowind and Fallout 1 & 2 that chastise them.
Love fallout 3 with or without mods. I have it on console because I dont have enough time to do the PC thing. But I have played every DLC and all I can say is it's a really good game. It's my fourth play through
No offense, but none of those mods is anyone near as good as the official DLC releases for Fallout 3.
Fallout 3 has no crappy horse armor type of DLC. All of the Fallout 3 DLC is awesome.
Hermit elitism is pathetic.

I agree, it's pathetic that consolites always fall behind those two words whenever they have no points to make and they know it.

Most consolites always admit the point made by hermits right away, like for instance that Crysis is the best looking game around or that pc mods really add to the experience of a game like Oblivion or Fallout 3, because there basically is no denying those things. Still hermits never fail to constantly repeat over and over again these same points. Why is this? Are you all insecure or something, is that why you're always seeking reassurance? It's pathetic!

We're not the pathetic ones here.. It's consolites who keep on going "WAWA MY GAME > CRYSIS" whenever a console game that looks remotely shiny appears on the hype train. Take a look at the recent surge of posts of garbage like "Uncharted 2 > Crysis" and "Killzone 2 > Crysis" and don't forget the "Metal Gear Solid 4 > Crysis" and god knows what other crap you hear whenever a new shiny looking game gets announced. You want us to stop posting about Crysis? Then you stop posting about it and your inferior looking games having better visuals. Of course, then the cycle continues and the consolite who gets owned proceeds to rave and rant about how it was so obvious he was wrong in the first place and therefore hermits are insecure.

Aside from that, when a point is being made in favour of pc gaming, more often than not (and in this thread definately) there is a tone of superiority that is really annoying. That's why claims to hermit elitism are valid in my book. This superiority is much less a factor in console discussion.

They have every right to use a superior tone when it comes to mods in multiplats... why? because it is surperior, I mean my god, every single "1up" any system fanboy gets classed as a boast of superiority, the only reason you all get so worked up about Hermits is because the list is in thier favour, its easy to claim the #1 spot is "elitist" but you all are, if you dont think "elitism" doesnt occure below #1 then your in serious denial. All factions are as elitest as eachother.Just like I said in my previous post, claiming something is okay because someone else does the same is a fallacy. Oh, look at your first sentence. You're singling out hermits from the bunch and yet you say that? Why didn't you just go "all SW fanboys are pathetic?"
And no, my tone is no less elitist than a consolite going "hermits don't belong here get out WAAAH!" - which is the sort of thing I see ALL OVER THE PLACE. Do I act like I own system wars? No. But apparently I'm the elitist one despite all these people claiming that the PC doesn't count in this forum like they made the damn rules.
For your last point, I don't understand this argument. Please show me one single example of a recent thread where Crysis screenshots get spammed everywhere. In fact, there is absolutely no mention of Crysis (not in a post, not in a signature, nowhere) in the most recent one I can find here, despite it going on for over 200 posts. So one has to wonder really... where is this myth of hermits unnecessarily flooding the forum with Crysis images coming from?
The GFWL client intergration into Fallout 3 is one of the biggest disasters I've ever seen.I've recently reinstalled an OS so now because of that, I don't have access to the 3 DLC packs I bought because the frigging client says my goddamn serial key is invalid. I bought the game from Steam so MS should have no fragging reason to even ask me about that. Now I don't have access to software that I spent money on.As it stands I will NEVER support another game with the GFWL symbol on it.I am in the process of removing the client from the game and transferring the DLC into the Fallout 3 directly and then playing it.
It's one of the worst applications of software I've ever seen. It think that it's completely preposterous that a they would have the balls to tell me my goddamn serial is invalid when I didn't buy the main game from them. This is one of the main reasons I game mostly on consoles. PC gaming is becoming a huge pain in the ass.
I've been playing the official DLC for Fallout 3 and it wipes the floor with any user mods. Point Lookout destroys your argument. And if mods are so cool then why do most people play without them on PC games. I was playing LoD online the other day and most people are playing ladder games, not your open battlenet games thay are full of crappy mods and user content.
I'll take official DLC any day. Your mods are weak, and the chinese stealth suit is still better looking and more useful than your crysis suit.

It comes from the thousands of Crysis images that have been spammed in graphics king threads.
That's like complaining that in a contest of "fastest kind of vehicle ever" the supersonic jetplane wins. There is nothing wrong with hermits posting Crysis images in graphics king contests - and if you think so, looks like you shouldn't be calling anyone else insecure.

It just gets annoying when it lags the ever loving god out of my browser.
I mean, for the love of all that is shiny, have they ever heard of resizing?

PC users get mods and DLC. I honestly couldn't play Fallout 3 without FOOK or MMM. Once you've experienced the benefits of mods it's hard to go back to the inferior vanilla version.
Plus, PC users get the high-res Chinese Stealth Suit.

If you are getting that kind of problem, then maybe you shouldn't go into threads which will have a few metric tonnes' worth of images in them? ;)

The point is that most of the time when there's discussion between consoles there's a lot of stuff being discussed that's actually debatable. But the points hermits make usually aren't because it's very clear the pc has an edge over consoles in many ways. Most of the people don't really debate any claims of Crysis being grahics king or mods adding to the game experience in the pc version. Regardsless of this there's still hermit rhetoric popping up everywhere where these claims are repeated in a tone that makes it very clear the respective posters feel superior to the consilites or console boys (like this thread calls it), which are derogatory terms by themselves.
So what does it make you if you keep on making a point, even though no one is contesting it, and expressing your sense of superiority over this point? Arrogant at the least. Of course the fact the the pc has the edge make it more likely for hermits to behave this way, but that doesn't make it any less pathetic.

:| Again, this is because you DO have consolites saying stuff like "Uncharted 2 > Crysis". And no, it's not "no one is contesting it". Even now we have people who still think you can't hook up a PC to your TV posting on this very forum with their ignorant misinformation. Hermits have just as much of a right to defend their platform and correct misconceptions about it as everybody else on this forum. Hell, even on this page there appears to be a guy who thinks that the PC doesn't get DLC. Why is it that people keep insulting us and calling us elitists when all we do is correct this BS?
And please elaborate on this "tone". Come on, I'm not the one claiming console fanboys don't have a place here in SW - it's those console fanboys who claim hermits don't have a place in SW. :| So again how is our tone more elitist?
Pathetic
So your blinkered logic is telling me that a few superficial mods, fancier graphics and free DLC is going to turn a game I disliked into a game I will adore?
Menalque2
Depends on the reasons why you disliked the game. I hated Oblivion with a passion, but with mods it's at least interesting to play in my case.
[QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"] Cool, I thought using mods for fallout was just draggin the files on the DATA folder, and then selecting which ones you wan to play? Can people be more ignorant on this site?

Come back when mods are as easy as puting a file or folder in the game directory and it works without fail.stepat201
Haha it's funny cause that is exactly how it works.
Let alone that I never mentioned the fallout 3 scenario I was touching on fools being unable to install mods on the PC which isn't all ways easy, Mods do not work without fail on the PC through the Fallout 3 you better hope that stuff is coded right it won't work and will possibly mess up your regular game till you remove the mods. All hermits have any more is mods, they don't have graphics they don't have gameplay they only have mods which is why they mention 90% of the time now, Mods mods mods. Mods aren't easy to find on PC for any game unless you got to preestablished sites for mods, and most games its not easy to install mods, The fact that Fall out 3 is easier then others doesn't dismiss the fact most PC games its not easy to install them for the most common casual users which make up the majority of PC gamers.
You have to pay for DLC though :| A free product most certainly is going to be of lower quality than one you pay $10 forI've been playing the official DLC for Fallout 3 and it wipes the floor with any user mods.
