Yeah, graphics on that tired old engine looked great in 2006... Not any more. They should have used RAGE tech or the very leased updated the graphics engine heavily.
The game looks fine. Graphically it might only be a minor improvement, but artistically there's a hell of a lot more variety to the locations. I mean, check out:
It's definitely looking less bland than Fallout 3. Plus the gameplay will be better, so who honestly cares either way?
Doesn't look any worse than Fallout 3, even that wasn't exactly mind blowing graphics.
But seriously playing any Fallout game for the graphics = LOLOLOLOLOLOL
Now those are more like it. Fallout 3 was a decent looking game aside from the pathetic character animations. I expect the same from New Vegas. I think TC just posted a poor screen, or they royally screwed up the console version. The game looks fine. Well, as long as it looks as good as (chances are it will look better, of course) Fallout 3, which at times was a beautiful sight...
...I couldn't care less. That other guy pretty much nailed it with the statement that "playing a Fallout game for the graphics = LOL". :)
Sorry to nitpick, but...are those pictures taken with or without texture mods?Must be the console version, I think the PC version will look better.
Here are screenshots I took from my Fallout 3 gameplay.Hakkai007

What the hell is wrong with so many gamers on here? (not the majority I add having read through)... its a massive open world game not a scripted corridor shooter for one, and as long as it still looks good can't you just enjoy the overall experience? no wonder the Wii gets ragged on so much if you can only play graphics king contenders :x.
looks exactly like Fallout 3. they just took fallout 3 and coated it with the new setting, just like how they took oblivion and coated with fallout 3s setting.

if you honestly think oblivion looks the same as fallout graphically you should probably get your eyes checked out.
OT: while i didn't really enjoy FO3, i always thought it looked beautiful, especially for an open world game. i don't know why so many people are hating on it's graphics...

For me it was the opposite. I loved everything about FO3 except the graphics (360 version). They weren't god awful, just rough. But if that's the worst thing I have to say about New Vegas when it releases then I'll still enjoy the game immensely.
I don't really mind graphics on these sort of games anyway; it's the content that counts.

In comparison Fallout 3 had (without DLC)
-163 marked locations
-~20 side quests
-~35 free quests
And new Vegas has
-well over 200 marked locations
~70 full fledged sidequests
~90 free questsThe above info provided by "cerberuspledge" Thanks Brother...

S'all good.
just hope that the quest will be as deep as they were in Fallout 3
Even back in 2008, when I used the best mods out there Fallout 3 still looked bad :( I liked the vegetation mods but they weren't enough lol.

It's Obsidian. The main thing they get right every time (okay, perhaps besides SOZ) is with their deep quests.
Actually, I'd argue that they're better at making deep RPGs than pretty much anyone else in the business - especially Bethesda and Bioware.

PC Gamer Hands-On: "An early play of New Vegas suggests, then, that it's darker, funnier and more engaging than its Bethesdan forerunner. If you're a wasteland devotee, you're certainly right to be excited. There's little doubt that it captures the underlying spirit of the first Fallout far better than Fallout 3 did - the dark comedy is more cutting and the people you come across are often deeper and more interesting to toy with. It's an altogether fiercer game."http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/10/06/chugging-down-toilet-water-in-fallout-new-vegas/
people really think that obsidian is doing a mediocre work on the graphics and will do a excellent job in gameplay and story ? very unlikely narog84
Sawyer (Lead Designer & Project Director) is pretty much known for good gameplay and Obsidians writing standard is on a different Level compared to the rest of the current mainstream industrie (Though, there are some indie developers I have high hopes in that department in)
So yes.
As for the work on the graphics. I really like the aesthetics of New Vegas, the buldings etc. and the weapon animations which are drastically improved. In fact much of the animations seem to be improved except for engine limitations. (Diagonal walking)
