After the SONY conference in February, and after picking up their jaws from the floor, MS had to come up with something that would make the X1 look to be at least as powerful as the PS4, and at the same time, never really be measured or proven.

Awesome plan MS, you truly are the Shinra Corps of the real world.

So still just dedicated servers and that it frees up a few % of the CPU. Goodie. I AM SO GLAD WE ARE STILL TALKING ABOUT THIS! It is not going to become anything else if we make more threads about this.

i threw it in here because this hasnt been posted yet. and from what i understand, online games could use the cloud to carry the load. i dnt care if it's true or not, the 300,000+ dedicated servers good enough for me. i am interested in the family sharing coming back tho. it sounds like they r going to do what i've been asking them to do and that's bring back the policies for digital only

oh really so why did Microsoft invest 8.6 billion into the cloud in 2011?  try reading the article or watching the video.    You sound like an uninformed nervous cow.

Actually no, it had been rumoured long before PS4 reveal that MS would be merging aspects of its business, and that Azure would greatly benefit MSs plan for the next Xbox.

The thing is, it has been proven. Persistant worlds for example are nothing new, they've been done in MMOs for example. Now thats possible in any genre, the new Fable which will just be an action / RPG will have a persistant world, and that actually can't be done without the cloud. You couldn't achieve that just on local hardware.

The AI in Forza 5? Again, you need  the cloud to collect all that data and feed it back to players.

Even just really simple stuff like how they're using it in Sunset Overdrive. "Price also added that the console's online cloud structure and horsepower would allow more "hardcore data collection, correlation and translation" that would be tough on current generation consoles. "We are going to be relying on heavy back-end services to churn through the data we get from players to understand what they're telling us and what they're doing in the game." Basically means that that conversation between the company and players allows for a constant stream of updates and tweaks based on player behaviour and feedback. This was utilized in Halo 4 as well, and have you noticed just how much the multiplayer has changed in that since launch? Much better now.

I think where MS threw people off was by saying that for every XOne, there would be 3 times that in processing power available in the cloud. Which could well be true but people autmotically assumed that to meaning that XOne's would have 3 times the graphics, 3 times the power etc. Which isn't the case at all.

And before people bitch and cry saying this has been done on PC or whatever, the difference in this scenario is that MS, a platform holder, is providing this service to all devs. That hasn't been done before. As the Respawn guys said, they went to both Sony and MS. MS offered them Azure for a cheap price, and so thats why its on Xbox and Windows and not Playstation. Sony aren't offering that same level of service because they simply don't have the infrastructure MS does.

i wonder what the family share plan will be, so excited and so glad to read that article last night.   It definitely is coming, i just wonder how they are going to go about it.   My thinking is you can lend it to someone for a specific amount of time but wont be able to play it yourself?    I guess you know now why its delayed and needs to be thought out, they have to balance publishers concerns and what consumers want and try to come up with a happy medium.     Maybe they will have an always on options as well, looks like you will have the option for DRM if you want is what I am thinking, and that is fantastic....    Sign the petition guys, obviously it is working, Whitten mentions it.

100 percent, if you like this kinda stuff, i would really think hard about how you buy.    So maybe at launch there will be an option to make your physical copy digital in case you want to add it digitally and the disc then would be useless?    It does look like the familyshare plan is coming, how it will be implemented is another thing and like Whitten says it takes time for alot of reasons.   Now they can push it off launch gives them time to add it down the road.

i look at it like this, the ps4 is an extremely impressive piece of hardware and probably is the better overall gaming machine (single player wise.) while the x1 may be the overall better console when u factor in multiplayer gaming, entertainment options and the launch titles although the games will probably eventually even out.

PS4 is going to be a great console, no doubt. And I am absolutely sure Naughty Dog will destroy faces with their first 8th-gen game, but I am just all about Xbox One right now. I will get a PS4 one day, but it'll probably be 6 months to a year from now. Definitely waiting for GaiKai to come on board.

I'm REALLY tired, and it is SO FRAKKING HOT so I honestly can't tell whose trolling and who isn't... but wah? The only advantage the DRM had was family sharing (Which would be implimented without mandatory checkins for physical copies)... Fmily sharing was a 45-60 min demo for several family members... Not exactly the most awesome feature... Hell I remember some steam games giving out free 3 day passes for some gams a while back... No one cares if MS impliments 24 hour check ins for their digital purchases either, it's a little draconian in comparrison to other services like steam (once online then forever offline)... It was only the physical copies...

Yea that's structured badly... TLDR: What actual advantages are there on the consumer end for Always on DRM / One account per disk rules? :/

I am so pumped family sharing might be in play, for all intented purposes its back in play, how it will be implemented is the next question.    Now with the woman that PNF appointed Mrs Larson-Green, communication is going to be a hell of alot better, it already started with the awesome Mark Whitten saying "shame" on Microsoft.    I hope the familyshare plan is lending a game out and im ok with that game lent out digitally having a time limit on the game im playing and when it runs out within a 24 hour window, it reups every 24 hours, this is the kinda vision is possible only with Microsoft because of the infrastructure clouds 30 billion into clould technology futuristic beast that it is.

Family sharing was a 60 minute demo according to who Cboat, the guy who said prince of persia would be a XBOX exclusive and mistaked it for Halo 5???   Phil spencer said it wasnt a demo, so please the bottom line was nothing "was" in that situation.   it was all up in the air for speculation, we can now only imagine what it will be since its definitely coming out...
