There are 2 things holding back FFXIII/MGS4 on the 360 -
1. Disc space. The obvious one.
2. Japanese sales. Another obvious one. The 360 isn't selling too well in America but still has the highest install base, but if it sold even okay in Japan (it's sold half a million - I am talking at least 3 million sold in Japan) MGS4 and XIII would've been on the 360 no doubt.

I agree with your second reason, but your first is just silly. You act as if you can put things on multi disk or compress files. Most games on blu ray are big because they use uncompressed audio, video and multiple languages. Every time I see people try to bring the blu ray capacity issue into the equation I just chuckle. Because blu ray is a non factor.
Well, we'll see what happens this holiday season with the $400 PS3. That might increase the install base enough for them to keep the games exclusive. Zhengi
WELL, ps3 installment increase doesn't mean wii and 360 increase would stop. company only care money. not loyalty.

I didn't say the other two will stop. The thing is that the only problem with the PS3 for third party devs is that the install base isn't large enough. If the install base increases, that's one less concern they have with the PS3.

I think japanfamistui president know more insiders than you.
you still have no proof why they have to stick with ps3.

MGS and Final Fantasy are big sellers in America too.
The creators of MGS4 said they are definately keeping it PS3 exclusive and Final Fantasy has always been a Playstation franchise since the PS1. I don't see any of them going multiplat unless PS3 sales are absolutely horrible by the time they come out.
Wow it's been almost 7 minutes since the last "MGS4 to go to 360" thread. Props for being able to hold it in for so long.
Anyway, to the lems, I thought 360 was TEH BEST GAMING EXPERIENCE EVER CONCEIVED, why do you need Metal Gear or Final Fantasy? You have Splinter Cell and Blue Dragon, which are much, much better.

Final Fantasy use to be a Nintendo franchise before Sony came into the picture, don't think Square-Enix isn't afraid to switch sides when needed.

I actually have to question Famitsu's president. Kojima has said that MGS 4 would be exclusive. SE has said that FFXIII would be exclusive. I want to know what insiders he has that says otherwise.
Also, I'm looking at the situation objectively. If PS3 can increase its install base and become a viable console, what's the point in making those games multiplat?
I don't know wy people think MGS4 is sony's savior, it's an awesome game, but the franchis it'self however is not known by casual gamers usually like h alo or mario
However, FF13, I may get a ps3 just for that, man, it looks soooooooooooo awesome. If it did go to the 360, that would be awesome, but playstation has that certain feel for Final Fantasy games even though I don't want a ps3 right now that much
Doesn't Sony owns a small % of Square? If so this basically guarantees exclusivity of FF titles. MGS on the other hand could possibly go multiplat. Either way I don't expect these games to be multiplat, at least for a long time after their exclusivity.
CPM_basic
sony own about 8%percent share of square enix, butwhy DQ9 becameNDS exclusive, infinite undiscovery a x360 exclusive?
Yea idk how much of a say Sony has in SE. I mean the PSP is gettin a remake while the NDS is getting new games (DQ9, FF Tactics Advance 2, FFXII: Relavent Wings). Also the CC series for nintendo and the DQ: Swords game. I mean how much say does PS3 really have.
AND QUOTE ME ON THIS. If Square starts going Multiplat to 360 with thier main games (Not spin offs) I will DEFINATLY get a 360 instead of PS3.

Final Fantasy XI is on the 360.

actually both konami and square haven't confirmed ff13, mgs4 ps3 exclusive.while they complain about ps3 poor sales comsistently.

That's a very good point...
If the PS3 were to lose Final Fantasy XIII as an exclusive, best thing to do would be to buy SquareEnix. That's a large fanbase to command. Exclusives are the only thing to keep consoles alive. That's the reason why Nintendo has survived this long.

Yep, companies saying a game will be exclusive is the best indicator of exclusivty. I can't wait to play the exclusives Assassians Creed and Monster Hunter 3 on the PS3. After all, Ubisoft and Capcom said they were going to be PS3 exclusives!

They've already confirmed it. SE has shown many graphs showing that FF XIII is on PS3. Kojima has said MGS 4 is exclusive to PS3. I don't understand where you're getting that they didn't confirm it.

yeah, and vf5 is a waterdowned ps3 exclusive with no online battle.also dmc4:D

Not all developers are the same. Konami isn't Capcom and Square-Enix isn't Ubisoft.
Square Enix is trying to draw attention to JRPGs in the West by making new IPs (Infinite Undiscovery) and multiplats (The Last Remnant), but I doubt XIII will be released on the Xbox 360. Honestly, I think it would be best if they worked on new IPs for the Xbox 360 instead of ports you know? If they want to expand revenue in NA and the EU they have to support all three consoles this time around, which it seems they're doing. Exclusives sell the best and pull the most attention, so making exclusives for all platforms is win/win.
If Blue Dragon could sell over 400,000 world wide (A game targeted at a niche audience) I think Square has a shot at making their games sell well on the Xbox 360. The Japanese gamers WILL buy a console for 1 game, that's been proven with the large spike of sales for the Xbox 360 when Blue Dragon was released, and Final Fantasy 7:Crisis Core for the PSP. They just have to make a quality title and not a rehashed MMO and they'll do all right. (Even the port of FFXI sold 140,000 on the Xbox 360. Wierd)
Considering that both companies have indicated that they wish to focus a lot more of their efforts in the western markets (where the money is) both games have a very high chance of becoming multiplatform, especially when the 360 is doing so well over here as compared to the PS3. The reason why it has not been confirmed as exclusive is because both companies are still unsure of how the PS3 will perform in the market and are waiting for the future to pan out (for example sales to pick up, which they have not).
If porting both games is financially feasible then it will probably happen, especially given the enormous development costs of those two titles. It's just business (and in my eyes it would be a very smart business move), not loyalty.
why can't the lems just face the fact that both of those games are exclusive to PS 3 and remained to be that way until you finally hear the devs said otherwise?
lems, keep dreaming.
