Famitsu Reveals New Okami Game: Okamiden

The mystery of Okamiden began a few days ago when a trademark was discovered. The name, which was filed by Capcom, hinted that a sequel to Okami would be on the way.

Now Famitsu has provided a full blow out of Okamiden and it looks as though all of the rumors about an Okami sequel were correct. However, the series is now finding a new home on the DS. Details are scarce right now, but the game is scheduled for release in 2010.

This may or may not have been posted in this particular thread, but for the people saying or who have said that it's from "Gaiden" I doubt it becuase the key word in 外伝 is　外　(gai) which means "outside, outer, etc ..." 伝 (den) however　is part of 伝説 (densetsu) which means legend. According to WWWJDIC 伝 is the same thing (there is a difference, it's just not identified by English dicionary entries). So it's like Ookami Legend(s?)

Edit: What's funny is I've said taht the chance of a must get game on DS was slim just a few moments ago, now there is a must game for me to get and I have to say that it's a perfect fit for the DS.

DS is appropriate. I mean wii would be outraeously mean. At least this doesn't feel like a visual tease. I would have wanted in on xbox 360/ps3 for graphic reasons.

Two artistic and awesome games that didn't sell well on consoles. Though the Okami formula fits perfectly on the DS.

Awesome as news, the DS is basically a perfect fit for a Okami game so great news all round imo, although I would have preferred a Wii seqeal instead of a DS one, it'll probably be just as good anyway the DS one :).

I just saw a scan of Ghost Trick, and it looks weird.:P I might keep a eye on that one too.

damn, it will work best on ds, but it would be the only console/handheld i don't own! i may have to get a ds one day, but i will wait until i can get one for like £40 like i did with psp. make a wii/360/ps3 sequel too!

Dragon Quest 9, Okami 2, the DS gets every big name game that would normally go to a console only for the DS. I am surprised that FF14 or MGS5 is not on the DS. Or are they?Willy105

No man... the DS touch screen was always more suited to the painting gestres involved in the game... and with the DSi's excess processing power, who knows, if this game is a DSi exclusive, it might be able to pull of graphics nearly of the same quality as the Wii/PS2 versions with little downscaling

Pretty much, any other system.. the ultimate best case would have been PS3/360 to see the art****in HD110million

Phantom Hourglass still had cel shaded 3D graphics. I'm supposing that if they use 2D graphics in 3D environments (kind of like the reverse of NSMB), then the game'll look just fine.
