it was good up until the last 1/3 of the game, but good overall, and fun co-oplamprey263
the last third is where it really shined!!! by that point you realize the story is just a means to an end and you just sit back and enjoy the really fun scripted story moments.

Darksiders 2 was my GOTY until I played Sleeping Dogs. Breaking bones and arms is just too much fun

[QUOTE="15strong"]

Way too repetative and bland. The world was gave no reason for me to actually explore it. And don't tell me radio towers and enemy camps. I'm talking the want to actually explore every nook and cranny, and Far cry gave me no reason to do so. Money didn't really matter. After you hunted one thing you hunted them all. It's really fun for about three hours and that's about it.

The animation however was done really well for a fps.

Liquid_

What, in your opinion is a non-repetitive and non-bland shooter?

Dishonored and Borderlands 2 come to mind. Borderlands more for the pure shooter aspect.

Oh and for the people talkign about AC3, I am enjoying that much more than Far Cry. I guess for me it comes down to how well made the world is in an open world game. And AC3 Boston and Fronteir is really awesome to play through.

Playing through it now and Im enjoying every moment of it. The freedom of gameplay(most of the time) is what I enjoy the most. Hunting is a blast but upgrading most things is way too easy. unfortunately, the more I open up the island the more my frame rate drops.

It`s probably the most FUN game I`ve played in 2012, but there were other games that i thought had a more interesting story, like Walking Dead, or the mind f*** that is Hotline Miami. I did love the whole decent into madness, really reminded me of Apocalypse Now.

The most satisfying game was Hotline Miami 2012. My GOTY was Kid Icarus: Uprising.

Far Cry 3 was good, but the QTE boss fights kinda killed my will to play it, not to mention how repetitive it was and how some absurdities in the stealth system. 7/10 from me. Overall though, the game was too easy to be satisfying. And dont get me started on the bullet sponge animals that on higher difficulties would burn through an entire clip.

Still haven't played it yet which is unfortunate. Hopefully I can get it in summer time when there is a clear window for me to finish my humongous backlog of games. That is not even counting the games that are coming out this following months.

...but a game that left me completly satisfied in 2012? Probably Dishonored or the Walking Dead.

In terms of the outposts and some of the hunting, maybe. It certainly wasn't satisfying in regards to anything got to do with the story.

Outposts were imo the only good part about the game, but the outposts made up for the lackluster everything else. So still a 7/10 in my book.

Im cool with your preferences as I too am not a big fan of QTE's, but we're talking about two boss qtes in a 40 hour game.... i wouldve rather a more realistic boss fight sure but the qtes were harmless in the overall scope of the game to me... Bullet sponge animals and even in coop though run rampid and can be irritating.

I was like, I can't wait to fight the boss, and then after "I" won I was like "WTF is this sh*t". And I was really let down :(

Oh and I forgot about hte turret sequences. They too made helped make the campaign unenjoyable.

The game imo really was nothing but a poor man's STALKER (except for the fact that STALKER is actually challenging).

But again we're talking about isolating a grand total of 5 minutes of gameplay in what was otherwise a large and robust game. How did you feel about climbing a peak, pinpointing your next objective, hangliding to it, releasing and parachuting into the outakirts of a camp only to stealthily pick off each guy one by one with razor precision? I actually felt depressed when i finished the 34th outpost.

The Outposts were good, great even. But that is the only part of the game I liked (the story missions, hunting, general exploration were very meh, hangliding didnt impress me at all).

Fair enough... the story was a means to an end though i liked a few characters alot. It wasnt that any one part excelled over any other, for me it was the elements used togethwr to give me the sense of power over the world. Gunplay, tactics, ecploration all scratched an itch especially when used together. I actually didnt like fst travel Haha

So fun.... wait till you get the winged suit and you take an atv shiit stacking over a cliff, only to release to your winged suit and parachute down safely to the beach below. Game is really satisfying

trials of the rakyat, were the standout parts for me. every outpost was the same story, sneak up, knock out alarm, kill 6 people, the and, like I said it got boring, don't get me started on those fookin radio towers.

Hmm, I forgot about those, I always did those when I found them, and I didnt stop until I got the perfect score. Good fun, despite me not being a fan of the game's gunplay. They were varied enough and the goals were fun to pursue.

My personal game of the year is The Walking Dead.

Far Cry 3 was amazing aswell, but its a pity that there's pretty much nothing to do once you've finished the storyline and captured all radiotowers and outposts. And collecting all relics and lost letters is way too unsatisfying, some of those relics are a real b*tch to find.

And there was too little Vaas in this game.

Agreed. Just wish the story was better and the South map was not as good and fun as the North

TheEroica
I pondered that myself... I felt the same, only it made me wonder if I felt that way because by the time I transitioned to that part of the island I knew the mechanics/process so well or whether it was because it just wasnt as compelling.

The South map was not as interesting as the North because it lacks the random encounters between Rakyats, the privateers and animals. And the environments of the South are worse.

No, that honour would go to Shogun 2 Fall of The Samurai. While It's an expansion it still counts as a seoperate game simply because of the unlimited replay value and new content it delivers. I put in more than 200 hours into Shogun 2 Fall of the Samurai alone compared to Far Cry 3, which I was only able to play for 3 hours before I got bored and ended up never playing it again.
