I'd say MGS3. Mainly because of the storyline, and also because it has better graphics than any other Metal Gear Solid (once again, excluding MGS4) Since 90% of the people would choose Guns of the Patriots, I decided to exclude it.

Metal gear solid.
It didn't have inane story elements and unimportant plot lines like the others did or atleast as much as they did.
But the gameplay sucked. Even Metal Gear 1 plays better than that archaic piece of garbage. Anyway, easily MGS3. The plot was by far the strongest in the series, the graphics were excellent, and the gameplay took the biggest leap in the series with the free roaming camera and the CQC was a great addition.Metal gear solid.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. The pinnacle of the series. Focused story and focused gameplay as well.

MGS1 was very similar to MG1...I guess MGS3, no...MGS2. What a giant leap that game was.
Scratch that, MGS1, fantastic game, got it started.

Sigh. I hate Meryl. She said she was using a fifty caliber handgun since she was 8 years old. And she one hands a Desert Eagle and headshots one after the other, barely flinching.I'd say Metal Gear Solid. It kicked the series off perfectly. It had a great story, great characters and I just had so much fun playing it through 4 or 5 times. The nostalgia is still bubbling within me :D

They're all great games, and excluding PO its pretty close overall, but I gotta give it to MGS3 subsistence, even if MGS4 was in the competition. It just had a certain something that pushes it above and beyond the rest of them, and the new camera and online modes introduced in Subsistence perfected it. I wasn't crazy about MGSPO though, since the psp has only 1 analog I thought it would have been much better if the camera was over the top instead of behind the back. Still a good game though
MGS2: Sons of Liberty was my favorite one. Mainly because the Plant chapter felt fresh with Raiden and I enjoyed playing as Raiden
MEtal GEar Solid 2. I thought I would hate raiden, but his plot & character development was great!especially when I started beating up hostages lmfao!

yeah i agree. i thought he's like a pretty boy acting to be a tough one.. but raiden with sword is cool, but AI snake in MGS2 is a sick he can kill enemies with ease..
MGS1 barely beats out MGS3 in my eyes. But asking me to pick my favorite MGS game is like asking me to pick my favorite super model, either way all the choices are amazing.
MGS2. It had a fantastic storyline and the graphics at the time were really outstanding.
MGS3 was my least favourite because the controls were rather horrible, as was the storyline (way too simplified).

Completely agree with you. I felt that maybe Kojima intentionally simplified 3 because of the backlash MGS2's story created. In my eyes though the story felt very lazy. I mean, you have a guy who fired bee's at you for no reason. MGS2 had stupid bosses as well (like Fatman) but Kojima took the time to give you an emotional connection to the situation (Stillman's death motivated you to get revenge). In MGS3 it was just y'know.. Some guy shooting bee's!
