As a response to the "Least favorite genre" thread. I shall make a "favorite genre"
Mine's RPG for sure. Coming in second are FPS and RTS in a tie.
My favorite game of a all ti; Rayman 2. Is however, a platformer

Kou loves balls. Are you going to disagree with him?
Btw this whole conversation is on topic since the point was to mention P4 in the end, wich is an RPG,wich is one of the poll options. :P
RPGs I wish they became the dominant while excluding JRPGs. If I had any hybrid of RPGs it would be MMORPGS :D :D
Hmm... Either Action Adventure (Zelda, Assassin's Creed, Grand Theft Auto) or RPGs (NIER, Persona, Dragon Quest, Elder Scrolls, Mass Effect).. I'd probably give the nod to Action Adventure, but if I was asked again some other day my answer could be different.
First games I ever played were plat formers and it's probably my favorite genre. In the late 90s and early 00s I was heavily into shooters and RPGs as well. In the last few years I have really started to appreciate action games and I no longer care for shooters as most of them fail to hold my interest long enough for them to be worth buying.
My all times favourite genre is turn based strategy. Its rough for me those days and without GOG.com and dosbox, I would have barely anything to play. Despite that, a brilliant gem still happens to show every now and then, like incredibely good and surprisingly originalValkyria Chronicles or Heroes of Might and Magic V.
Oh and best turn based strategy of all time - Master of Orion 2.
Adventure genre. But just to make it clear: I mean real adventure games, so no Zelda, Metroid or other stuff like that.

So you're talking point & click adventures?
My favourite genre is the platformer. Rayman 2 used to be my all time favourite 3D platformer (the n64/dreamcast/pc version. Not the abysmal PS1port) until Super Mario Galaxy 2 came along to destroy it in every way. My favourite game of all time is Pikmin 2 though.
Another genre which I am falling in love with this genare these stylish combat ones like Devil May Cry 4 and Bayonetta. They are fantastic, deep, and really well designed.

What makes Zelda and Metroid not REAL adventure games? Metroid especially because it's entire focus is on solving how to explore an unknown world and figuring out the back story based on this exploration. If that isn't an adventure, I don't know what is
